Mustang Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 I agree with you. Everything should be sharp for the eye where you look at close and far. Except ofcourse things like heatblur. I wish the blur can be tweaked out this HDR setting. And keeping the good things from it. Is it possible? [EDIT] I edited hdr.lua in (../config/effects/Posteffects) and have set the blur value to 0.0 Personally, I think it looks much better now. I use the cold HDR setting, but I need to adjust sweetfx to have a better intensity and colour filtering. Blur as it is being used as a masking technique has nothing to do with reality as it is masking problematic or cheap graphic quality issues. Like the old soap episodes from Dallas, a masktechnique for rimples xD (uh... I had to watch a few times from my older sister when I was a kid.. ;)) @Mustang Thanks for the improvements over the last versions. Be careful, if you completely remove the Blur you will lose alot of lighting and things will look very dull, see these two comparisons: hdr['bMagn'] = 0.0 hdr['bMagn'] = 0.35 the blur in cold.hdr does more than you think, it can negatively affect sky and sunlighting and possibly other things as well.
Cnuke Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) You are right Mustang! :) Thanks for the screenies. Although I added just a little bit, step by step. It's now at 0.05 ;) , but I also changed the hdr level/brightness in hdr.lua as well, to overcome what you have highlighted. With adjusted sweetfx settings, it's very pretty now. I will need a bit more time to figure out myself what is possible. It's a little search here to not have blur in the cold hdr setting, but to keep it as beautiful as possible from your mod. Milli Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Any idea why I'm getting these sharp edges to certain cloud tops? Regards, Milli
rcjonessnp175 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I get the same. I imagine it's a dcs bug just like the disappearing cloud bug. I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.
Mustang Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Any idea why I'm getting these sharp edges to certain cloud tops? Regards, Milli I'm afraid this is a small drawback of the larger clouds version, you sometimes see the edges of the cloud renderbox clipping the texture, try the standard version of this mod if it continues to be of concern for you ;)
Milli Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Thanks Mustang. Yes I am using the larger clouds so I will have a look at the smaller ones. Regards, Milli
Marioshata Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) I think I like the blur in Cold HDR, also the colors (world and cockpit) seem the best to me. The only thing that is bothering me a little is that the clouds look a bit pinkish, but hands down to Mustang. Edited August 26, 2014 by Marioshata

Mustang Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Same problem with standard version here. OK i have fixed the problem, please download and retry the updated standard version.
Milli Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Will you be able to fix the larger clouds also? Regards, Milli
uboats Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Hi Mustang, I'm using the latest 5.38, while I found very obvious horizontal line once starting from the air 2000m. 5.35 is more obvious, so I changed to 5.38. But the line is still there. nvida gt750m Edited August 29, 2014 by uboats [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |

rcjonessnp175 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 noticed it when you have clouds and a fog bank. The top of the fog bank is very pronounced at times like that I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.

Mustang Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 v5.39 uploaded with some small changes to fog parameters (altered smoothstep values in sky.fx) I have also decided to host just one version of the shader mod for the time being, the clipping bugs with the 15% larger clouds have been troublesome, if can i figure out how to fix this i'll host them up again :)
dureiken Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Hi, thanks for this awesome work. Just a question : I tried to install it and after PeterP Dynamic mod but they seem to use the same files (hdr.fx and skyquad.fx). Does your mod change HDR too ? thanks
Vex Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Hi Mustang, excellent mod. Thank you for your work, man! I've got a question, I've noticed there was a version of your mod with simplified clouds for better fps, but it was for v5.16. I like how it looks on the screenshots, but improved fps are my main interest. Is there any way to incorporate the simplified clouds into last version? Or if it's inconvenient for you - I see you decided to host just one version of the mod - can you tell me where and what do I need to modify in the files to get it? thanks in advance
Mustang Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 v5.41 was uploaded late last night with some little tweaks to sky.fx and hdr.fx. Hi Mustang, excellent mod. Lizzard Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Hi any idea ? Thanks :) just compare the files with a tool like examdiff..you will see the differences...there are just a few. So you can decide yourself wich files to use..Mustang`s or PeterP`s..just a matter of taste:) My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Vex Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) change the part in bold to a lower amount to around 0.2 or so. Great! Thanks. I'll play with the value a bit and see how it works out, so far about 0.8 seems the best for me. Edited September 6, 2014 by Vex
