Anyone using SweetFX?

NP. I´ve simply copied the Data of SweetFX (regular and 64-Bit Folder) into the Bin Folder of DCS. Nothing more.

The 64 bit folder is just a storage place. Those files need to replace the 32 bit files of the same names in the folder above. Nothing is reading the folder they are currently in. There is a readme in that folder which explains this.

Copy all the DLL from this folder to the parent level folder if you want to use SweetFX with 64 bits applications/games

I understand that.

My question: did he copy and use the x64 DLL's that are in that folder

Thanks

Taking his post at face value; I am guessing they are still in the subfolder.

BTW, I noticed your location.. I'm apparently your neighbor.

There are a few of us from the DC area.

Interesting about the DLLs. I have a recent version sitting on disk, but that isn't what I have been running, at least I don't think so. I used different sources for DCS and ROF, so I will have to take a closer look.

I had the same problem with the 64 bit dlls. I'm running it on Win7 x64, could it have installed as a 32 bit program? I installed it in a games folder outside of the Windows folder originally, it is now on a different drive since I got an SSD. It was never installed in Program Files or Program Files x86, so I can't tell if it's a 32 or 64 bit installation...

I installed the x32 version (1.4) d/l from the author's site on Guru3d. That's what's running now on my Win 7 x64 system.

It looks to me that the x64 version is the same as the x32 version with the exception of the 2 DLL files that were included in the "64 Bit" folder but I can't be sure of that. When I copied the x64 bit DLL's into the Bin folder (as instructed by the x64 Readme), the game crashed at start-up. I deleted all SweetFX files at that point and re-installed the x32 version. Game then ran fine.

Question at this point is the x32 version working? I'll have to split the screen and try to determine.

All this with the texture mods implemented and HumVee's Sweetfx settings.

I just took a look at my install in DCS, which is PeterP's setup. It appears that he included the 64 bit dlls (based on file properties) that I have in my download of SweetFX 1.4. It is working just fine.

EDIT: That is in DCS World v1.2.5. I have not tested anything in 1.2.6.

Interesting.

The D/L of SweetFX V 1.4 from Guru3D did not include the x64 DLL's. I D/L'ed the x64 package from the link HumVee included in his Revised Textures for DCS World package.

Where did you get your D/L of the x64 SweetFX package?

Thanks.

Update: Found the x64 d/l for SweetFx on Guru3d. The x64 D/L package does not include all the files that are in the x32 package. There are no installation instructions in the x64 package. Leads me to believe that the X64 package either installs over the x32 bit package or the x64 bit package is incomplete.

Any ideas?

Hi!

Sorry Mate, i´ve missed your Thread the last Days. Apologies for that.

The SweetFX x64 Download contains only two dll Files, which must be copied in the bin Folder too. Nothing more. I´ve missed to tell you that you have to do so.

The Readme of the x64 Files says :

Copy all the DLL from this folder to the parent level folder if you want to use SweetFX with 64 bits applications/games

Since DCS World is a 64-bit Application (when using W7x64), you have to use this additional dll´s. Otherwise SFX won´t work (atleast on my Side).

Ah, one more thing : I´ve only posted the Link. Nothing of that is my Work. Credits to Toby. :)

Humvee,

Thanks but a question;

The x64 D/L package link that you included in your post includes a SweetFX folder and a folder that contains the x64 DLL's you state should be installed to the Bin folder.

When I copied the x64 DLL's into the Bin folder, my game crashed at start-up (before the GUI screen loaded).

Did you use the SweetFX folder that was in the "x64" D/L or did you install SweetFX from another D/L source? The x32 SweetFX D/L contains files that are not in the x64 D/L package, that's why I ask.

Update:

Ok, got it sorted. Used the x64 SweetFX package with the x64 DLL's copied to Bin.

Works like a champ.

LOL... 4 months... that didn't take long to get bored :D

Ha! That's 4 months to find a girl, plan a wedding, move in together, get good with her parents/family, get 100 people together for the wedding and have a honeymoon...all in a foreign language (I am an American living in Japan.)

I'm back to DCSW now because I need a break and so does she!

(That and her dad is into RC cars and helicopters, so I'm getting it ready to show him what kind of toys I play with...)

Not sure if anyone will want it or not but this is my SweetFX profile:

Just a few details:

Film grain is turned on to give static textures a living feel. It doesn't look that great in the menus but while you are playing it gives a much better effect.

Bloom and vibrance are used to give better lighting and glare effects to lights.

Finally advanced CRT, with the CRT bend/barrel effect off and set to high res, gives you the feeling that you are looking through a camera's LCD while recording a video.

These effects together totally changed the DCS World experience for me.

(FYI: the color pattern from advanced CRT isn't that strong while I'm playing the game.)
