As we know spitfire has two different type wings, one is short and another is long.

So how to change it in the game? Just like call the ground crew to change it? Will it be two different variant plane?

It has not been confirmed that we will get the option.

If we do get it I would guess it would be something you can change in the mission editor. If we do get it :)

I hope so the elipical wing on a spitfire is a beautiful thing.

For armament it was 2 types of wings - 2 20mm + 4 .303" or 20mm + 2 .50".

The Spitfire IX/XVI could have 3 types of wing tips - extended, standard and clipped.

I hope we keep the clip wing as I believe it was historically the most common wing for the Mk IX Low Fighter version at the time and reflects the natural historical progression of the Spitfire. I do not want something less common in terms of the progressive time line for the sake of a beauty competition. The wings were clipped for good reason at this time of the war. Lets try to keep it real.

Once the Spit II is simulated we will get the early classic shapes. As with so much in life, all good things come to those that wait, LOL.

Happy landings,

Again, that is not a sure thing right now. Its a hope.

Ouch, I misread your post:

"It has not been confirmed that we will get the option."

as

"It has now been confirmed that we will get the option."

Hang about, has she got wing tanks then? Wasn't expecting that...

I spotted the switches in the electrical panel (on the port frame, by the seat). However, it had been my impression that the mkIX didn't possess wing tanks.

I'll have to check, but those switches are probably a modern addition to a restored IX - the Spitfire VII/VIII had a "Fuel transfer valve selector lever" (55) on the lower instrument panel - the fuel in the wing tanks was transferred to the main top fuel tank, rather than the engine being run directly from those tanks. (Thumbnails From A.P 1565 G & H Spitfire Mark VII/Mark VIII Pilot's Notes issued in December 1943):

Transferred directly to the pilot? :drunk:

We'd probably would of seen a pre-release notice if it was coming this year. 2016 will be a good year for WWII releases hopefully.

Seems more likely and I suspect it won't be until we get the Normandy map either. There's so much work going on with 1.5/2.0 at the moment.

I am really looking fwd into the Spitfire Mk IX! Really!!!!

Next will be the Normandy map, but I guess I'll still have to wait for a while for that ....

No problem in that, I'm busy already with the 3 ww2 birds and 2 helicopters :-)

Yes, interested in this too. Some modern day airshow Spits have extra fuel tanks in the ammo/gun compartments in the wing, is the developer modelling MH434 as she is configured today?

Real Air's Spit XIV for MSFS had those ammo compartment tanks modelled, complete with multiple filler caps on the wings, something that always drove me nuts as it wasn't authentic to the WW2 period.

Also, what is that black round thing above the gear selector on the right side? Wobble pump for the wing tanks if the electrics fail?

Wouldn't be surprised to see the P-47 before any Normandy map ... it was in front of the Spitfire until a few months ago.
