Friedrich-4B Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 ok do i have this correct; there will be a DCS spitfire and a VEAO spitfire? any eta? DCS Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX; VEAO Spitfire F. Mk XIVE. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]************************************* Fortunately, Mk IX is slightly stable, anyway, the required stick travel is not high... but nothing extraordinary. Very pleasant to fly, very controllable, predictable and steady. We never refuse to correct something that was found outside ED if it is really proven...But we never will follow some "experts" who think that only they are the greatest aerodynamic guru with a secret knowledge. :smartass: WWII AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE
Drag0nWIng Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 As we know spitfire has two different type wings, one is short and another is long. So how to change it in the game? Just like call the ground crew to change it? Will it be two different variant plane?

westr Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 If we do get it I would guess it would be something you can change in the mission editor. If we do get it :) I hope so the elipical wing on a spitfire is a beautiful thing. Just like call the ground crew to change it? Will it be two different variant plane? For armament it was 2 types of wings - 2 20mm + 4 .303" or 20mm + 2 .50". The Spitfire IX/XVI could have 3 types of wing tips - extended, standard and clipped.
Talisman_VR Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 I hope we keep the clip wing as I believe it was historically the most common wing for the Mk IX Low Fighter version at the time and reflects the natural historical progression of the Spitfire. I do not want something less common in terms of the progressive time line for the sake of a beauty competition. The wings were clipped for good reason at this time of the war. Lets try to keep it real. Once the Spit II is simulated we will get the early classic shapes. As with so much in life, all good things come to those that wait, LOL. Happy landings, Talisman

Cripple Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Hang about, has she got wing tanks then? Wasn't expecting that... I spotted the switches in the electrical panel (on the port frame, by the seat). However, it had been my impression that the mkIX didn't possess wing tanks. Quoted from: http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/concise-guide-to-spitfire-wing-types.html/2 I'll have to check, but those switches are probably a modern addition to a restored IX - the Spitfire VII/VIII had a "Fuel transfer valve selector lever" (55) on the lower instrument panel - the fuel in the wing tanks was transferred to the main top fuel tank, rather than the engine being run directly from those tanks. Cripple Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Thanks for that info. Hmmmm, I wonder if they are a modern addition, and if they will be deleted? chop367 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So are we looking at a pre-Christmas release of the Spitfire maybe? I hope so would bring in some $$$$$$s for ED. Very popular aeroplane. lets hope so, wallet ready..........:pilotfly:
fastfreddie Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 lets hope so, wallet ready..........:pilotfly: We'd probably would of seen a pre-release notice if it was coming this year. 2016 will be a good year for WWII releases hopefully.

Some modern day airshow Spits have extra fuel tanks in the ammo/gun compartments in the wing, is the developer modelling MH434 as she is configured today? Real Air's Spit XIV for MSFS had those ammo compartment tanks modelled, complete with multiple filler caps on the wings, something that always drove me nuts as it wasn't authentic to the WW2 period. Also, what is that black round thing above the gear selector on the right side? Wobble pump for the wing tanks if the electrics fail? Edited December 16, 2015 by jocko417
