Revan Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 In the Mission editor, whenever i set a bomber to go bomb a certain spot, they just fly over it and keep going, why do they do this? DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!! Aircraft: A-10C, Ka-50, UH-1H, MiG-21, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T, TF-51
rassy7 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Make sure they actually have a payload. There are also a couple different ways to tell an aircraft to attack (a point in the ground, an enemy unit) and somewhere in there you can specify which weapon the bomber should use. That can affect how the bomber attacks. Sometimes I know if you tell a jet to attack and it doesn't on its initial run, it might just be setting up for the attack run and will eventually release the weapon. Weather also should have an affect, though I don't know how completely this is modeled for ai, but for instance, a jet should not be able to drop an LGB such as a GBU 10 or 12 through a thick cloud cover. m9matt Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Are they set as 'Ground Attack' in their task? I normally set two bombing tasks in the advanced waypoints, under Perform task option, so they have a start and end point to drop their bombs. They may also be affected by air threats, which can be changed under Reaction to Threat in waypoint actions.
Midnight Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I feel a court matial coming, charge- Disobeying a legal order. Just kiding mate, will test this as well.
Zayets Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 If they are set for Ground Attack then this is exactly what they'll do : bomb directly over the spot you indicated in the mission editor (there's a line extending from the waypoint you ordered to bomb ending in a small filled triangle). For me this was until recently the only way to order bombing for AI's . After reading carefully the DCS manual I can do now almost all types of bombing runs with the AI's. Very neat. Wrecking Crew Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Set one of your first waypoints to Advanced Waypoint Action -> Reaction To Threat = Passive (or whatever it is called). WC Visit the Hollo Pointe DCS World server -- an open server with a variety of COOP & H2H missions including Combined Arms.
