Why can't I take control of any of my purchased aircraft anymore?

is the purpose of your reply to be rude or are you actually not able to take the problem I have encountered at face value?

I was happily playing DCS with all my purchased modules no problem and now I can't, everything looks normal in the module manager, only 2 significant events have happened between and that is an upgrade to my graphics card and a DCSworld update, my system is 64 bit.

Don't know why, but I simply cannot take control of any aircraft in DCS apart from the free SU-25, I have already wasted a couple of activations trying to sort this out but no joy.

But they are all already installed and activated like I said, they were activated since I purchased them years ago and I was able to use them no problem but now I can't.

When did you upgrade your GPU?

Upgrading GPU and CPU is enough to trigger your Hardware Code to Change, Per Starforce Proactive DRM Docs:

An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated

below:

CPU ID: 13

Windows PID: 3

Computer Name: 3

Hard drive volume serial number: 3

MAC address: 6

RAM amount: 6

Unless you clear the Registry, the Stored Hardware Code is now invalid, so you can uninstall and Activate all you want,

And You will either Get a “Activation Failed” Message, or not able to control your Aircraft.

You Need to Clear your Registry Using the Tool in the Link, then Re-Activate Each Module.

So, Go to this Link,

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=94531

Download the REG File (Right Click Save Target as),

Run it, it will Delete the Eagle Dynamics Registry String and the Old Hardware Code.

Goto DCS / Mods Folder, In Each Module’s /Bin/ Folder, Run the Activate/Protect EXE.

Enter Your License, Choose Activate.

Alternatively, Boot DCS.

Goto Multi-Player.

When the Dialogs Come Up, Enter License and Choose Activate.

If a Windows Pop Up Comes up Stating “Program Not Responding”,

Choose “WAIT FOR THIS PROGRAM TO RESPOND”

After a few seconds the activation will finish and the next module’s activation dialog will come up, repeat.

Don't waste any more activations - just deactivate the module before uninstalling - that way you save an activation each time you reinstall!

So I have now got it all fixed, a more methodical complete uninstallation including the registry keys and then a reinstall and reactivation, strange set of circumstances considering all I did was a GPU upgrade (shouldn't have warranted a hardware code change) but I guess I must have done something else to pick up points, maybe there should be an inbuilt warning to detect possible issues like this.

Anyway, thank you to all those who took the time to give advice, I'm back in the air and can finally try this out in my oculus rift thanks to the tridef drivers.

GPU AND CPU Change will trigger a Hardware Code Change.

Proactive Starforce Forums also have cases of Updating Drivers Causing a HW Code Change.

In my opinion this is a problem Starforce and ED should work on. A hardware change needing a reactivation is somewhat ok, but messing it up like this by not giving a clear message of what is amiss is very customer unfriendly.

SkateZilla Will a DCS module require another activation, even if I deactivate it before changing my hardware (CPU for example)?

Deactivations are limited? 8-()

I know a lot of guys do a clean install of DCSW and their modules after each update - they should run out of deactivations pretty soon... I thought that only activations were limited.

Yes, deactivations are also limited.

However, you do not need to deactivate just to do a clean install (I am one of those guys). Removing and reinstalling the sim will not use up an activation, so deactivating is not needed, or I would have long since run out.

Is there a way to know how many deactivations I have left? I haven't realized I could do a reinstall without deactivating my products... It would be an awful shame to loose my modules like that :-(
