Who needs expensive cockpit when you have wood and black paint lol. Made this in 3 hours and it's so much better with the keyboard up infront of you like that. My next task is to make a UFC with the keyboard using a modifier key on my TM Hotas :)

Damn, I am going to have to rethink my cockpit design now. Now where did I put those sheets of metal and my welder, I'm not sure I can get wood to bend like that. :)

That is a very strange question to ask on cockpit building forum. Obviously those who want to have an expencive cockpit are the ones who need it . even if there is wood.

Come on now, it was my attempt at a joke lol. Don't try to burn me and go all serious on me now.

Probably more money then a real life jet.

Not much more.

1. Buy used jet.

2. Attach sim computer.

3. Buy wife whatever she wants.

OK, that last part might get expensive but.... :D

I'll take one of these:

ElMirage_CA_F-4_03.jpg

IIRC Someone had a 1:1 Scale replica forward section of a F-18 for sale,

The entire forward fuselage, replica Seats, panels, windscreen and canopy. for like $40,000.

It was originally used as a Photo stationary (as in you sit in it and they take your picture).

I think the Blue Angles Still Cart their F-4 Forward Section Around.

There's Full Size Forward Cockpit sections of fighters being sold from Scrapyards for thousands of dollars if you want it.

TBH, You Only need the cross sections, and you can build your own cheaper.

As someone with 20 feet of fighter fuselage, never confuse "need" with "want". The words are not interchangeable. I take your question and pose another --- why use wood when you can use cardboard, paper mache and crayons? *chuckle*
