So my main bird is the a10c, what fov you guys running with these big screens? I assume as far as a real world reference you should be backed up or zoomed back so you have visibility of the mirrors correct? This is one thing I always keep messing with, also I run this game in 3d but was wondering everybody's knowledge. Thanks

Should of said Fov

How I mounted my 55 incher on the vol air sim pit. Basically got a wall mount for it then mounted it to the actual vol air mount. Used a speaker stand as a kickstand sort of thing then drilled holes into the legs of mount and nut and bolted it at the height. Then put a nut on upper screws to get a tilt forward of tv.

At last, I am next lucky guy to play DCS at 58" 4K screen. It is so awesome to see your wingman a few miles away, or civilian traffic from 8k feet :-)

I bought Panasonic 58" LED TX-58AX800E and as a few of you guys already have a similar model already I wanted to ask if you played some more with picture settings, have you found maybe a sweet spot and would like to share ? I am currently trying all the options and there are is many...

First two photos of my setup included ;-)

Congratulations on joining the club! I've had my Pana for a month now and absolutely love it. I too, though, struggled with getting optimal picture quality. I've tried many combinations of settings but still haven't managed to find what I would consider to be an ideal setup. Overall, it seems to me that the Pana just simply can't do deep blacks very well. For now I'm using the below settings, and rely on SweetFX to individually tailor colors etc. in each game I play on it.

Picture Mode: Monitor

Back light: 80

Contract: 85

Brightness: 0

Color: 80

Tint: 0

Sharpness: 0

Color temp: Normal

Vivid color: Off

Color remaster: Off

Adaptive backlight control: Off

Letterbox: Normal

C.A.T.S.: Off

Video NR: Off

MPEG remaster: Off

Resolution remaster: Off

Caption smoother: Off

Brilliance enhancer: Off

Pro settings:

Contract A.I.: Off

Advanced picture:

Game mode: On

4K pure direct: On

Black level: Dark

Thanks!

Below my settings for comparison:

Viewing Mode: Monitor

Backlight: 90

contrast: 85

brightness: 0

color: 80

tint: 0

sharpness: 60

color temp: normal

vivid color: off

color remaster: min

adaptive backlight control: off

letterbox: normal

ambient sensor: on

noise reduction: max

mpeg remaster: off

caption smoother: off

brilliance enhancer: min

Advanced settings:

contrast control: auto

Option settings:

game mode: on

4K pure direct: off

I noticed that I do not have a black level setting - probably one of the differences between E and U models, but just out of curiosity does it make noticeable difference ?

What is more I found two interesting videos.

The

one shows all settings after Pana calibration. This is specifically for E model but I suppose U cannot be much different ? I applied all those settings for Professional1 as well as Monitor Viewing modes and I must say I am happy with the results - colors are more natural and vivid now (especially in Professional1 mode).

The

one is about removing green and magneta tint if needed.

I can officially say I just joined the club..

just took the plunge and got a Panasonic 58" AX800 :)

Should arrive later this week. Thanks to those that provided some pics and opinions on the screen.

Lucky enough time to grab one; last in stock of all the shops I looked at.

Managed to get it on clearance for $2299AUD/ approx $1795 USD.

I feel a little guilty for some reason; committing to a big screen

Things we do to further the immersion in simming.

Just bought a 50" 4k that I will have mounted close. Did a quick test at 4k 60hz and Wow!!! Unbelievable! The only real downside I can see is at 4k I cant read the text from AWACS etc in the top left lol but that's a small thing to give up for the visuals!

Welcome to the club,

IVe just been testing with the plasma 55".

DSR 2560x1440, everything max, MSAA 16x, no mirrors. 50-125fps. Locked vsync at 50fps(screen is 50hz vsynced), and it runs great, smooth as.

Will never go back to monitor, screen real estate is bliss.

hey, i'm curious.. are you able to ALT-TAB out??

i am not able to do it - sometimes it would be so nice to be able to get out and switch channels in TS etc..

but i have to be in full-screen (or NOT in full-screen - i forget) and i can't do it without screwing up DCS.........
