Watari Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Hi duds Im coming back to the huey since 1.2.4 and im impressed from the progress! The huey makes a lot of fun actuall I have a x52pro and i think its a little bit too twitchy. What curves or axis settings should i use? thanks :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html
Cibit Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I use an 18% curve on both X and Y axis with an x52. A lot of people seem to favour 10% from what I have read:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
xxJohnxx Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I use no curves at all. Check out my YouTube: xxJohnxx Intel i7 6800k watercooled | ASUS Rampage V Edition 10 | 32 GB RAM | Asus GTX1080 watercooled
Lib Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 No curves on X and Y. 20 curve on the rudder Slider and User curve ( 0 28 43 53 58 61 64 71 83 93 100) on the collective. You take off without "a too long push of the throttle" and land smoother.
Metal Hawk Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 No curves here also. That's with a saitek X-52 pro. At first I tried it with curves after suggestions I read from others but at the end I've found out that it's better with no curves. Same for the pedals. But it all depend on the quality of your hardware and your personal preference.
Suchacz Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 There is no need to using curves with my modded G940  Definitely recomended for flying helos! Per aspera ad astra! Watari Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 ok so i simply have to practice more :joystick: but i try the slider option on collective :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html

hitman Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Most joysticks are twitchy, and some are twitchier than others. My Warthog doesnt need a dead zone for any axis, but if I were using my old X52, I would definitely set up a dead zone and curves. To give you an idea what those settings do: a dead zone is the amount of play your stick has vs the amount of play you want to use when in game before it registers as movement from the stick. If you naturally have a little bit of play, you will want to use a dead zone that is equal to the amount of play you feel you need, so it wouldnt feel so twitchy. Curves tell you how fast the input is at a given curve - ie a flat curve means you will have a minimal registered input throughout the entire axis, vs a well rounded curve may register the most movement at 90 degrees, and the least amount of movement at 0 and 180 degrees. If I didnt make that clear, then perhaps someone can explain it better.
Scupper Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I have an X52 Pro and use curves of 21 on the X and Y axes, - I think it makes things a lot easier. Having no curves would be fine if you had a long stick like in the real aircraft but on my X52 it's way too twitchy, - why make life difficult for yourself? I think I have about 12 on the rudder.
msalama Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Can't access my sim computer just now, but I _think_ I've got a 15 curve with a tad of deadzone on the stick, and a similar curve with a larger DZ on the pedals. I'm using a T-Flight HOTAS with a Saitek Pro Flight pedal set, and while those are OKish otherwise, they're still too twitchy and coarse without curves. I've been thinking of extending the stick somehow. But whether I ever get around to actually doing it remains to be seen, because I'm a lazy bastard  But in the meantime I'll just make do with how they're set up now... The DCS Mi-8MTV2. Hi Msalama, I am both a lzy bastard and a very busy person. Nor am I into electronics. But I took the bull by the horns when I saw Peterp's videos and explanations of how to extend the MSFFB2 stick. It was loads of fun planning it all on the way to work, buying the components, and then one saturday I just did it all. Results? Brilliant! Way better control, especially for choppers, and also gives a better immersion feeling, not gripping a stick on your desktop.... I recommend the journey. Have fun! bart Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I'm using a TM WARTHOG joystick and throttle for the Huey with no curves on anything. It seems to work ok. Watari Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Thanks for your advices! Im checking my input with the indicator and i cant imagine that the real huey do that bank with around 1cm of stick movement. Im really not that bad coordination and fine movements (dont know the right english word for "motoric skill") Im happy with a curve around 10 on X , Y and rudder. :matrix: =SPEED IS LIFE=:matrix: http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/speed-is-life.html
