lesnyborsuk Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Hello, since I have read some books about ally fighter pilots, now I would love to read some concentrating on Luftwaffe side. I am not looking for historical cold facts, rather pilots testimonies, dogfights stories and some everyday reality. Can you advise something? The more is better because I am not English native, so I would try to find it in my spoken language :) Thanks! I remember when sex was safe and flying was dangerous.

Yurgon Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Adam Makos with Larry Alexander: A Higher Call. It's about a very unusual encounter above Germany and how the opposing pilots involved in it met decades later. Franz Stigler's recollections in this book also include meeting the aforementioned Marseille and Galland and how he became a member of JV 44. I can't praise this book enough.

PLP Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Look forward to reading these :book::thumbup:. Slightly off-topic, I found Pierre Clostermann's the big show to be the best fighter pilot's account of WWII by far (read it in french - it is superbly well written.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mnemonic Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 "Stuka Pilot" by Hans Ulrich Rudel - best book I read about WW2 german pilot: http://www.amazon.com/Stuka-Pilot-Hans-Ulrich-Rudel/dp/1908476877/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1389052382&sr=1-1&keywords=Stuka+pilot
lunaticfringe Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Galland himself- "The First and the Last".
SNAFU Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The best book about and from a German fighter pilot of 2ndWW is IMO "Feindberührung" by Julius Meimberg, but it is written in german and I don´t think it will be translated any time soon, since the publisher is a small - but very good one. All books I have published by "269" were worth the read, but it only offers 2 books in english I am afraid. http://www.neunundzwanzigsechs.de/main.php "My Logbook" is not as good as "Feindberührung" IMO, but still a good read. It`s not only about his time in WW2, but also about the beginning of the Bundeswehr Luftwaffe involving the F-104G crisis.
