That's some seriously 'informal' wiring. :)

Wonder if he eventually routed it through the roof?

A lot of tallent on here! How you guys end up being able to prefectly match the wrap on tail parts or body side and top it's awesome, i just did stripes on my fiest one and ain't that easy. never tried yet on tail. This is my first attempt in DCS, a lot different than FSX when i did some a few years ago.

The Speculars itself is a challenge, took me a bit to understand and find a way to work with them so i can easily adjust or modify. But, here's my first attempt. Finished it last night, a RCAF SAR copter. A Griffon was my victim as this first portait. :) Hope you like it, i try to get close to the real thing as much as i could, but i had some problem with the color matching, end up i had to hide the Overlay layers with some highlight, it was getting all color light, the last color is a bit more less yellowish.

Question, the Huey you have on your screenshots, is the model used in Model viewer, not the same as in DCS world, how are you able to use this model in DCS or is it possible to also load in ModelViwer, the model we get in DCS?

Hello guys,

Thanks for you kindly words...

Hello Razorback,

Aie, it's not easy for me because my English is not perfect, for the software I use Photoshop and PaintNet.

For my civilian version I like the clean Huey and for the military Huey I love just a little dirt.

In first:

With Photoshop I play with the layers for have one clean or weathering version (fuselage + tail).

In second:

After when I think that my work if good I save to BMP format.

In third:

I open PaintNet and I load my BMP files and I save in DDS format.

DXT1 for all my fuselage textures and tail.

For the blades I save in DXT5, flight suit...

In fourth:

I test the result with ModelViewer of ED, if I meet one problem I return with Photoshop and I fix the error, save to BMP, open with PaintNet the same file and I save to DXT1.

After I teste again with ModelViewer.

Sometime I must watch my repaints IRL with DCS because sometime ModelViewer is not good for obtain the best result for me.

The must will be that one guy who talk English for make one tutorial because it's not so easy for me...

I hope that this little explanation will be not too simple...

Bye, Skull.

EDIT:

Other repaint WIP:

Hello no sure that I've well understand but the Huey used by Modelviewer is the same than Huey of DCS.

From screenshots of DCS or Modelviewer it's the same...

About the 3D model of Huey for Modelviewer or DCS the 3D model or shape is here: C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\World\Shapes

Of course the rendering from Modelviewer is not also beautiful than DCS but it's really the same 3D model.

When you created one skin it's more easy and fast to watch the result with Modelviewer than DCS, because DCS is more long to load and watch the result.

If it's not your question please can you answer here ?

Thanks, Skull.

Thanks for the reply.

If you look closely at the engine exhaust pipe, the one on your screenshot pointed on my previous post the Kern Country one and mostly all your sreenshots, the pipe is straight and not coming much out of engine cover, now if you look at mine of the skin i will post in a few seconds and even Upuaut's screenshot, our exhaust pipe come's out more and is angled up.

Yours has cleared ceiling/roof windows, ours they are green glass. Yours, the engine cover has 2 small opening windows which we can see the engine through, ours, does not.

The model uou have is the exact model i get in ModelViewer, the Ab212.edm if i remember. I noticed it at first because i want clear roof windows and asked myself when i've seem your snapshots " how in hell does he gets clear windows and not the greenish windows. "

Hi Doum76,

in the Modelviewer use the ARG 1000 and 1001 to show the slick version of the UH1.

ME1.jpg

In DCS you can activate it in the Mission Edtior (uncheck the boxes).

Ok maybe I understand your question,

For the pipe and engine cover are just present if you choose in the Mission Editor the option "Exhaust IR suppressors" as this screenshot:

Huey%2001.jpg

Here without this option:

Huey%2003.jpg

And here with this option:

Huey%2002.jpg

About the green glass if I don't say mistake you can find these textures here: C:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Textures

With all my repaints I never changed the green glass to clear glass but it's easy to make...

Please can you tell me now if my answer is correct but if it's not the case please contact me here...

EDIT: It's perfect, Upuaut give you the better explanation that me +1

Greetings Guys,

So here i am with my second projet, i decided to make the Canadian Forces Liveries, there is one that comes with DCS, but decided to make my own and try to match the real Camo pattern design and markings, logs etc.. but most, fool around with the speculars, i wanted to make like the pictures below, mat brown, green being a bit more reflectiv than the brown and the markings more reflective than the green, and having Scratches to show when sunlight comes on, and some mat and glossy spot to mimick paint uses and touch up or so, you can see mostly what i mean with the few pictures.

I've made a little video of the WIP moving the hely around to test the final result of the tests and wraping being perfect on all parts, which was a little job to match. :) Tel me wha you think, i still need to work on the crew members skins and i'll then be able to release the livery.

I ran into troubles with my livery... for whatever reason, it looks like silver instead of gray.

I played around with the SPECM file (light green, gradient from black to white), but no matter what I did, overall the Huey is too shiny.

The ground color is the exact same as I used for my Mi-8 livery. It looks good there. I even tried to use the SPECM file from the Mi-8. As you can see in the 2nd picture, the two airframes have a complete different color.

Can anybody explain me why the Huey look completely "wrong" and different than the texture? And even more important, can anybody tell me how to correct it? Any help is very appreciated. I need the Huey to have the same look as the Mi-8.

Please PM me if you need the psd files or the dds/lua.

Remove all the SPEC files from the skin folder and then open the description.lua file and change the corresponding lines to "true". See if that works.
