Damn what a manifest. As I read the title line I did expect some other points, but accusing ED for DCS being a storage intensive sim is quite akward. Also your download issues. Even if there would be a desire to play while downloading, how often do you download the whole game? If you feel you have to speak up, there would have been far more seroius things to complain. The net.dostring story is realy a big one or the fact, that dispite the known performance issues in VR there is still no option to switch off that f..king flanker in the main menu which eats up your VRam. But there you have it, there is no we, there is only a you, and a me and sometimes it might be an us. Every one has its own problems and wishes and ED has created a big monstrous Frankensim with thousends of individuals with even more wishes and needs. I think despite all frustration we have to acknowledge that ED does a lot of work. Just look in the changelogs. And often enough a well ment change turns out to be a boomerang and creates new issues. And they do care about the community. Nineline and BIGNEWEY sometimes have more patience than I could probalbly have. They are not perfect, but to handle such a demanding community with such a big sim is quite a challenge I asume. You can´t satisfy everyone and there are often questionable descisions but thats just how it works when you have tu run a business and make design decisions. And don´t forget, only because you are a active member you don´t own ED nor DCS. It´s their product and their decision and you can make your decisions as you like. Maybe you have more luck with the developers of that other sim. Its smaller, runs smoother and doesn´t cost anything.

Hi, thanks for the dxdiag. Your system seems to have some kernel errors in WER. Ensure your system is up to date, check all drivers. Make sure your bios is up to date also.

Unplayable isnt how I would describe it, clearly thousands of people are playing DCS in VR. As mentioned in the other thread you started its best we take a look at your dcs log and dxdiag to offer some advice, but all options have quirks, there isnt a fix that will help when it comes to wanting perfection based on personal preference. It will depend on the settings, the hardware, and its performance. But please continue in the other thread we can take a look at your setup specifically to see if we can help. best regards bignewy

Silver_Dragon replied to celestHawk's topic in Chit-Chat
17 hour and 13 to unpack? what system are your computer... and your internet conection? I have a 1 Gb conection and download and install DCS only take arround 1 hour (from 2020). I have a exclusive SDD (2 TB) and working on DCS from 7 years ago and none problems. If you have many maps, you have 400 GB of data on your SSD... My instalation has 974 GB and has none problem... Welcome to the expensive world of flight simulation... I have a Horas Warthog from 5 years ago and many other perifericals, a 1080 Graphic card and and 2 32 Gb RAM DDR4 and work properly. The comunity has part of the comunity... but remember, ED and 3rd parties maintain them. Welcome to the real Simulation on PC...- 12 replies

Get yourself high and fast, the less atmosphere the phoenix has to go through means less drag, if you can get through the transonic region to Mach 1.2 (a lot of drag in the transonic area) before you launch that’ll help too.

The event will be held among JATF members. LockOn Greece is one of them along other squadrons. -
Rocket design book? Operating manual of what? All I know is R-77 definitely can work off STT. That’s how it was fired from J-11A, Su-30MKK, Su-30MK2

Hi, In some instances George keeps scanning the ground (low) and not forward anymore. Not sure when and how. Is there a way to center him back? Did deslave (fixed) but after choosing “searching area” he is fixed to scanning the ground low.

Hi, all options mentioned come with quirks, and personal preference is the only way to go. But lets start by attaching your dcs log and dxdiag maybe we can offer some tweaks that may help. best regards bignewy

There are currently 4 problems in VR: 1. terrible almost unplayable shimmering with DLSS off. 2. terrible almost unplayable aircraft ghosting and hard to spot aircrafts with DLSS on - even with latest DLSS 310.4.0 and preset K - especially when fighting over a forest, enemy aircrafts may literally turn into an unplayable messy warped streak of colors. 3. double aircraft image rendered in close range dog fights - even with DLSS and MSAA both off. 4. completely unplayable FSR or NIS (DLSS alternatives), since enemy aircrafts often literally become invisible in the sky. These problems SHOULD BE FIXED - trying to play DCS without stuttering, ghosting, or shimmering, should not be an idiotic form of black art. This report is for the developers. Do not respond if you only want to explain that this is the way it is and we should all just learn to live with it. Do not respond if you only want to list your black art list of work arounds that took you ages to compile and which does not really help or work. Cheers, and thanks for an otherwise wonderful masterpiece (aside from the other annoying bugs that weigh it down, of course).

I'm not sure how telling the GPU utilisation is nowadays. In yesteryears, when it was just rasterization power, it was much more straight forward. Today GPU can hit several different walls. Rasterization, Frame gen, Raytracing etc..... I'm not sure how the utilization is calculated exactly. I have seen the GPU stuck at 97% reported in benchmarks while setting new (personal) records. Long story short. When the reporting is somewhere in the 90s, I usually assume the GPU is properly loaded. Otherwise I usually see it hovering at 70something when running a frame cap at 120Hz.

TrackIR View Snaps to Wrong Position After Pause
SharpeXB replied to Liam Wonka's topic in Chit-Chat
Welcome to DCS Yes that’s what recenter does with TrackIR, very handy. The only improvement suggestion I could make would be to remap that to an easier to find key or stick button than F12. But if that works for you don’t fix what ain’t broke -
rtx 3060 12GB or rtx 5060 8GB for dcs?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to TomaToma's topic in Chit-Chat
The latest AMD graphics cards are really good, especially for the money. So a 9060XT (or 9070XT if you’re willing to pay a bit more) is a very good choice for those on a budget. I’d still be on AMD myself if the Varjo Aero wasn’t nvidia-only. -
I don't understand why people here list all their broken work arounds - this problem needs to be fixed - period! - all you do by listing this endless list of broken work arounds is to suppress the report and the problem. There are currently 4 problems in VR: 1. terrible almost unplayable shimmering with DLSS off 2. terrible almost unplayable aircraft ghosting and hard to spot aircrafts with DLSS on - also with latest DLSS 310.4.0 and preset K - especially when fighting over a forest enemy aircrafts may literally turn into an unplayable messy warped streak of colors. 3. double aircraft image rendered in close range dog fights - even with DLSS and MSAA both off. 4. unplayable FSR or NIS, since enemy aircrafts often literally become invisible in the sky. rather, the problem is in the radar of the aircraft. In the AA rocket design book and in the operating manual

From 14900K to AMD 9950X3D Is Lack Luster
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to The_Cokester's topic in VR Bugs
This is also my experience: I’ve never seen GPU usage higher than 92-94% in VR. If I were actually GPU limited, usage would be 98-99+. -
Sorry, half of the OP is questionable (to put it politely). 17+h downloads and router hickups - sounds like a you-problem to me. "chewing up harddrive life"? - welcome to 2025..... DCS doesn't hit the SSD any harder than any other big game. Ever glanced over to MSFS? Flightsims are hardware hungry? - Headline worthy news, really. It has been like this since Falcon 3.0 on a 100 MB harddrive.....

Most new people I am sure would rather find out for themselves, and that is the beauty of the free trials, DCS can be experienced for free.

How do you figure that the GPU can't keep up? It is much more likely that the CPU hits a wall with calculations. Especially in VR, the CPU is much more a limiting factor.
-
agree, but I also wonder if keeping users that spread misinformation on this forum, isn’t actually making prospective new users avoid trying out DCS on the first place

Okay but then is your problem with TJ radar or the R-77? Where have you read or seen that R-77 cannot be used STT?
