  1. Well as a rule fixed-wing is easier to fly than rotary-wing. Purely from a fact of stability. You can let go of everything in an aircraft and it won't just drop out of the sky. You can't really do that in a heli. You probably can with the much larger machines but you take an R22 and let go of everything - well you have an appointment with St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.... The real challenge will be the systems, rather than physically controlling it. IMO anyway...

  2. Hi dudes, especially responsible for website ;] I will not say present theme is ugly but... anything chances for new one ? I don't think to delete current but give the user option to choose from x to y in User CP. And second, we have XXI century. Today the standard of internet connection is not modem speed, any chances to take out signature size limit? Option to users' CP which turn on\off loading signatures can eliminate long loading for people who have really slow, slow connection, so it is not problem I think. :)

  3. Well, since there are so many polls around:doh: I'd love to make my own one :hehe: So here it goes... Please tell us with which program was the beginning of your long adventure with Eagle Dynamics flight simulators.

  5. If you are using the latest version of ModMan (6.3.0.1, I believe), I think it will make the necessary entries in the graphics.cfg file for you. If not, follow the Readme instructions. Basically, it's a standalone mod. It makes no changes, nor does it replace any files. Instead, it provides a set of alternate CDDS files for the sim to use. You can actually put the files anywhere you want, just as long as the graphics.cfg points to where they are. Here's why it works this way. The sim is looking for certain textures. It looks for them in the order that locations are listed in the graphics.cfg file in the "TextureCollections" section. Here's what a partial section of mine looks like: TextureCollections { highFolder = ".\\Bazar\\TempTextures\\"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\r1.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\r2.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\TestTextures\\A-10_Realistic_Cockpit.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\TestTextures\\Realistic_Moon.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\EnglishCockpit.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\TestTextures\\A-10_Su-27_Skins.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\TestTextures\\Su-25_Skin.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\TestTextures\\Su-27_HI-RES Basic.cdds"; winter = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\CoastlineWin.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\CoastlineSum.cdds"; spring = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\CoastlineSpr.cdds"; autumn = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\CoastlineAut.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesBMP.cdds"; common = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesTGA.cdds"; spring = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesSprBMP.cdds"; spring = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesSprTGA.cdds"; ... So, when the sim needs a texture, the first place it looks is in the "TempTextures" folder. Then, in my installation, the next place it looks is ".\Bazar\World\r1.cdds", then "\Bazar\World\r2.cdds", then "\Bazar\TestTextures\A-10_Realistic_Cockpit.cdds" and so on, in sequence down the list, until it finds the texture name. As soon as it finds it, it stops looking. So, since the Reload textures are placed ahead of the default textures (".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\High\\LandTexturesBMP.cdds", etc) in the list, the sim sees them first and never makes it to the default ones. More of an explanation than you need, I know, but sometimes it's helpful to understand how the sim is structured and how it goes about finding what it needs. EDIT: Also, IIRC, there are two lines, also in the graphics.cfg (found in the Config folder btw) that ought to be changed for improved texture appearance: OldLandNoise { perSquare = 4; perSquare2 = 150; front = 1000; back = 10000; top = 2500; map_high = 20000; bottom = 2000; noisemax = 0.8; noisemin = 0.6; Alter the last two lines in bold print. :: EDIT ENDS EDIT 2:: And one other notation. This also pertains to the graphics.cfg file. (Warning: this next may well have a negative effect on FPS.) Find the "LandLodDistances" section. The default, in part reads: LandLodDistances { LandDay { L01 = 40000; L12 = 60000; Change the bold print to read: L12 = 80000;. This eliminates the distance line issue. But on my machine, at least, it also eliminates fast frame rates. So experiment with this one. ::EDIT 2 ENDS Rich

  6. Damn... Wait, I'll make another poll in 2 minutes and ask a new question .. What simulator did you start with in your adventure to flight simulation? Poll coming !!! :music_whistling:

  8. The opposite happened a few more days before with different names too.:D But seriously these missions are a cool idea and really demand A2A tactics in a way that couldn't be bettered afaik in LO regardless of a/c flown.

  9. Because there is really nothing else out there. I am not putting down BS, I am just not interested in helicopters much. I'm somewhat interested in an AH-64D module if we were able to fly pilot/navigator in multiplayer and share workload with a buddy. Besides LOMAC will keep me busy for a very long time as I just got it a few months ago.

  11. Where's the Im only tired of stupid, meaningless polls...

  12. No answer for me up there. Polls are good only when solve questionable preferences of the community and help developers to pick right choice if they have doubts. Some are useless. That's why I think polls should be making by devs more often.

  20. its true. the last russan beta verson was handed out. with the US+other version still in works. To me this means the ME is finished along with campains and training mission. and are working out the last of the buggs in transluation. And still finishing the manual transluations(If not allready dun). So time is gitting shorter on the releas date. I belive the 2008 releas date to be true. and I think it to be befor --------- No I wont jinkx it...:D

  23. you got latest DirectX and try reinstalling graphics driver... don't really know what it is, you're gonna have to try anything and everything to see if it helps... reinstall the game (make sure you got the right patch installed)... try different drivers... graphics settings... etc... if you're not overclocking and your whole system is at default I doubt it's PSU issue then as 750W is enough for your system.

  24. Man I appreciate your effort to dig up information but, a number like 18 km does not say much. We need to know EXACT launch conditions, and we already have the speed profile of the missile, we can easily determine its range, and I tell ya it is far better than 18 km. Look two pages back, on the page with aim9L(older than 9m) and amraam competitor. Please examine this declassified information carefully and you will see! You will see 9L could quite confidently fly 15 nm without reaching speeds where it no longer is controllable, IF you give it the right condition. The same things are presented in the Mig-29 manual scans. You will note the aim9 ending up with a 3.5-4 km chase range in the same conditions that the R60 does 2 km chase.... Imagine the impact this has on a head on shot 10.000 m v 10.000 m where r60 has 16 km(M1.1+M1.1) range(R-27R is 35km), and aim9L is MUCH superior in range to R60. Unless the r73m1 (first released version is what we talk about here!) has the same range as R-27R it is IMPOSSIBLE for it to be more than just slightly longer legged than 9m It's all about what condition, and the page there you link to is a development history, but does not really go into where the numbers are taken from. If you increase engine thrust by 30% and weight also by 30% you gain no extra top speed

  25. Hi all, :music_whistling: yes, you have well read the title. Following my Work In Progress in LO modeling within the ADA Team, since it will will be more or less the first 3D cockpit ever made in Lockon. In the past, Tomcatz showed some issues with its early L39, now I will show you "my Real Thing". :smartass: As my old physics teacher said, a schema is worth thousands words. Nowadays, with the great Video Director LOTHAMROTH, :D let me say a video is worth 25 schemas per second! So to illustrate my work, please "hit" this: Beware, this is a 124 Mo video, if you want to watch this on other support, please follow those links: Streaming: Vimeo: YouTube: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=LVUIi8vGDmI Mirrors : http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index....le=920&lang=en http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=1U7VITXV A special thread for technical questions will be open on the www.ada-mod.org forum, but let me summarize the cockpit work: All are 3D analog gauges (no MFD possible in LO...) - Altimeter, Vertical speed, IAS, Mach are active - G-load and special alphajet incidencemeter active - 3D horizon ball - some Warning lights - RPM, fuel flow and ITT active - canopy opening - gear lever and speed throttles - HSI is transformed into RMi, but not fully working My thanks goes to Lothamroth for the video editing, AdA-mod dev team for testing and ideas sharing, Patrouille Virevolte my aerobatic team, Cpt Stark for the "millions hours livery" and "Ninja", the real Alphajet solo display 2007-2008! Enjoy! :pilotfly:
