  1. Hi all, this post is for anyone already having or planning in getting Crossfire setup. From personal experience with 2x HD4870 cards ever since I bought them I was on occasions experiencing these dreadfull microstutters related to dual GPU setups. Be it due to bad driver support or maybe even OS causing it, I think this installation procedure helps if not eliminate these microstutters (I've done this about 2 weeks ago and so far have not had one instance of my framerate jumping up and down (above V-Sync limited 60Hz) like crazy, causing stuttering. So if you haven't tried it already do this: Download latest Catalyst package (or any driver version you preffer and/or you feel is best for your card, also to use Catalyst Control Centre you will need installed MS .NET Framework 2.0 prior) then... 1. Uninstall your Catalyst software via Add or Remove Porgrams in windows Control Panel 2. Shut down your computer and take out secondary video card (don't just unplug the power and CF cable, take the card out completely) 3. Start your PC again, this time boot into Windows Safe Mode 4. Once in Safe Mode, do a search for all files and folders (tick system and hidden files/folders also) starting with "ati" (in search window type: ATI*) and delete them all. 5. open registry (start/run menu and type "regedit" and hit enter). Look into all these and delete what ever registries are in ...../Video folder a) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Video b) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet003/Control/Video c) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video d) HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/VIDEO *if folder is already empty that's fine 6. Once registry is cleaned, restart computer and boot normally into windows. Cancell the popups that asks you to update driver for newly detected hardware and install Catalyst Display Driver and Catalyst Control Panel. 7. Reboot again after installtion is complete and make sure driver is installed properly and all is good. 8. Now shut down your computer and install second video card, but do not connect Crossfire cable yet. 9. Start windows again and let windows automatically install drivers for the second card. 10. Once second card is installed shut down computer again, this time connect Crossfire cable, and face connector labeled J1A to main card and connector J2A to second card. 11. Start windows again, Catalyst will auto detect Crossfire being available and will prompt you to enable it... you enable it and you're done. Process is bit lengthy especially since it's not that straight forward when changing driver version, since you have to open the case, unscrew the card, disconnect the power cables.... yada yada yada... but I hope it solves this problem for you as I believe it did to me. EDIT: it's been just over 2 months that I've been installing Catalyst drivers in this way and not once did this microstuttering occur so I am of opinion installing Crossfire setup this way does help.

  4. Well, since we have Monstrous Aviation here, I though we should have Miniature Aviation as well. I’ll start with one of the smallest, full size, flyable, home made airplanes in the world. It is located in Oshkosh EAA air museum in Wisconsin. Stits Skybaby wing span was 7ft 2in only!

  5. . LRM mod RC5 soon entering public test phase I would like to present the project that we have been working on last week or so, which we now feel is ready for public testing on the RvE dedi. The mod includes a good amount of ways to deal with exploits currently in the game. We also implement a few system details that should have been there from the beginning. Everything is done in lua input/output, and the full details are available here At 1400Z today 20th of september 2008 the LRM mod goes live on RvE dedicated in HL. This first test is just that....a test. Balancing will me made continously and we appreciate all feedback. Server stats will be disabled while we are still in testing phase. Remember RvE Server runs 80s only setting, and using unauthorized payload (example 120C and R-27E) will get you banned Update : Currently working on a fix for the magic barrell roll ;) Something in this way... If missile has enough energy (in relation to its target) and is of a maneuverable type, then if close enough for proximity fuse, BANG. . Update 23rd september: Documentation for RC5 is now online, server will soon become "the 90s server" ;). Link to the documentation is here

  12. No it wasn't. It had an FDL which worked for its own flight, at least IIRC - very similar to what F-16's are equipped with. If you want a real mini-awacs, you need to go to the F-22, or possibly the MiG-31. The ability to datalink a few targets to your buds might make you feel like a mini-awacs, but there's a huge difference from there to here and what not ... usually dictated by the class of datalinking terminal. And so far, AFAIK, no fighter other than an F-22 can operate as a full blown JTIDS terminal ... on either side.

  13. We had forwarded your suggestion to ED. I'm sure something will be done with threat circles in the future. Remember, the ME, like the rest of the product, will continue to evolve. FYI - color selection is already implemented for trigger zone circles, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing or something similar was done for threat circles. No, the options cannot be accessed while in-game.

  14. I wondered whether the gun-pods could be made to converge; in real life at least. Anyone know if the pods require calibration -as the on-board guns have? (in RL) It's a shame that you cannot get the pods to converge at X-distance: if you could do so THAT would be an effective and destructive shower of s**t!

  16. The problem with the current amraam is that it ALWAYS finds something if maddogged :P. It's a perfect "Scen everywhere and kill". You can even use it for close range radar. When you don't know where the bandit is, then you fire amraam and watch where it's going XD Naturally, this is even easier with R-77 :P (smoke) I'm thinking now, after considering it for a while.... we should enforce a lock for both R77 and 120 to deal with this.. To prevent people from firing amraam by mistake with no lock, I could just make so that it sets master arm off if there is no target, and if you override this anyway (because I can only toggle, not set "OFF"), then you get the same punishment as the ET exploiters get

  20. To be honest I don't quite agree with the gunpods being weak. I seem to recall taking out a bunch of M-1's on the =RvE= server the other day with Tito using two gunpods and the internal gun. As Peyo said, the trick is to fire only in short bursts, and let the change in yaw and pitch settle before the next bursts. Admittedly this was using the vanilla 25, which handles a lot easier than the 25T and all other hardpoints were already empty... But again, practice makes perfect, especially with the AFM.

  22. I wonder in what contexts these weapons are used IRL. I guess these gunpods feature in Chechen-style or Afghanistan-in-the-soviet-era style conflicts, against static soft targets and troop concentrations. We simply do not really have the right type of targets in LO, like a group of militants defending a position, a technical vehicle, a militant camp etc. etc. I agree against a moving column these gunpods are not a good choice.
