:lol: Sim pilot's would love their windshields to get dirty, the cockpit to get hot so they can use the ventilation and lightning to strike their aircraft. Real pilot's would love not to deal with any of these things!

I have a 4870x2 on a 27" @ 1920x1200 I did some test runs to check it out here are the results. 1. Cat AI set to standard ( default ) , both gpus ran at about 30% usage Cpu usage was about 70% 2. Cat AI set to advanced , both gpus ran at 30% again but frame rate was less consistant and more stuttery ( not good ) , cpu usage 70% as before. 3. Cat AI to off ( crossfire off ) , single gpu ran at about 60%ish , cpu usage about 70% as before. Heres the kicker , the frame rates on all modes ...... were about the same , with advanced showing some stuttering. frame rate was between 40-60 on average but got real low in towns sub 20-fps With both the GPU and CPU not getting near 100% I would say that game is neither gpu or cpu limited , but poor programming / optimisation limited. I tried manually setting some AA on 2x , AF x2 , it didnt drop the frame rate much 1 or 2 fps. My thoughts , once I get my GTX280 back from repair , I will be getting rid of this 4870x2 , the card is good but not great certainly not £370 great. I am not alone in this opinion , I have read several other posts with people going from GTX280 -> 4870x2 -> GTX280 again. The gtx280 gives me better performance on most games I play and the frame rates are far more consistant. The 4870x2 is good on paper and on benchmarks but is lacking in actual game performance. Hey guys. Here is a small sound "mod" that makes your KA-50 sound more like the ones you heard in my 2 movies "Edge" and "Project 50" (which were recordings of the real Ka-50 at airshows). :) Diveplane helped me out so credits go out to him, i just edited together the rotor sounds to sort of "loop" (though not 100% perfect, but oh well). Сегодня копаясь в старых файлах наткнулся на сценарий к компании некогда создаваемой мною для LO Самой компании не нашел, но сценарий правда немного переделаный для DSC выложу на ваше рассмотрение. Может быть у кого - то возникнет желание сделать из него пару миссий или компанию. Я к сожалению еще не совсем разобрался с новым редактором. Вот собсна и сценарий для 3-х миссий. СИТУАЦИЯ: Несколько дней назад, подразделением СПЦНАЗ с базы НАТО, находящейся в Геленджие было умыкнуто четыре бочки 96 процентного спирта. Спирт был доставлен в лабораторию подпольного ликеро-водочного завода в г. Краснодаре. США под видом борьбы с незаконным обором алкогольных напитков, подняли звено А-10а, для уничтожения завода. Для того, чтобы по возможности вернуть свой спирт, к городу Краснодар была направлена колона бронетехники в составе танков М-2 Bradley под прикрытием M-163 Vulcan и вертолетов AH-64a. ЗАДАЧА: Силами двух двух ветрлетов К-50 необходимо уничтожить колонну бронитехники, двигающююся к Краснодару а так же постараться не ввязываться в бой с Самолетами A-10a. I wanted to make a post about a subject of the flight sims and the TrackIR product. I was flying this evening on Flaming-Cliff server ( 169th ) and after some fun missions with the Su-25T .. Well the funny thing is that i was going to just do some training aerobatics with the Su-25 ( AFM ) when i just tagged along with some other 25's, i asked if the virtual pilots around me had this cool product that i enjoy since the early time of the TrackIR-2 and many other do as well. All the pilots were flying with out it.... i was quite surprised ! many of the guys really couldn't afford to get it and they all wished to have one. Flying with a TrackIR is definitely a much better flight experience and i couldn't fly with out it now . So since many pilots had the TrackIR3 ( with or with out vector ) and went to the newer version 4, why not give the opportunity for our friends to have the same fun with your older version 3 of the TrackIR. What do you think if you could sale for cheap or just make the future Trackir owner pay for shipping, Trade, Donate, Exchange anything would be great for many members virtual pilots. Please add to this post your ideas, opinions and ... which model you can give/sell(cheap ) here. It's almost 2009 and Xmas is not too far back.. For addresses and deals keep it on pm's .. You assume that FreeTrack is legal merely because it has not been challenged in court. Lack of something does not prove the existence of something else. That is poor logic. Just because the RIAA is not going after individuals for pirating music and movies doesn't mean it is legal, yet using your logic it would be. Yes as flight simmers we are a very small community. We should be supporting those people and companies that actually give something to the community instead of taking what others have done. Maybe NP could offer software for a charge that was compatible with any webcam. But then I am sure there are some who would still whine about it. Would CH stand by if I hacked their software to work with my Saitek that has really poor software? Doubt it.

Here is what I did... Create a dinky little mission, just you on the airfield. Cut your HUD off. Take off, watch your instruments, find a landmark and try different things and see how the aircraft reacts. I was fighting trim and the AP for a long time. I was also fighting inertia. Inertia is the hardest thing to figure out. But with practice you will know when to pull a tight turn and when to swan turn the shark in a graceful turn. Use the VVI and the ADI alot more than you use it now. Also, measure yourself. Not like that...but create a metric for how you are doing. I thought I knew how to land or make turns, until i had to land on a pad. Then I was screwed, or I thought I could circle an objective, until I had to do it and maintain situational awareness. Its tough. But practice, practice, practice. Sorry for the ramble. Love the sim. SunDown

Well, I can't help with the mysterious "6", but I can tell you that the PVI-800 doesn't use minutes and seconds, it uses minutes and tenths of minutes. In other words, if you had a coordinate of 43 degrees 15"30', then it should be entered into the PVI-800 as 43155 (43 degrees, 15.5 minutes). Also, you may already know this, but when entering the longitude, it expects 3 digits for degrees, so you may need ot add in a leading "0". Finally, you need to specify positive or negative, where positive is north latitude and east longitude, and negative is south latitude and west longitude. So to enter in the following coordinate: N45 degrees, 15"30' E43 degrees, 55"0' You would enter the following into the PVI-800 as TP2: Switch PVI-800 master mode to EDIT, Press the TP button, then the number 2. Then enter the coordinates for the first point by pressing these buttons in sequence: 0 (for positive, or north latitude), 4, 5, 1, 5, 5, ENTER, 0 (for positive or east longitude), 0, 4, 3, 5, 5, 0, ENTER. THen switch the master mode back to OPER, press the TP button, then the nuber 2, and you should be pointed toward TP2.

Simulators world is a niche. Let´s face it. We are a small world and fractured in a lot of sections (flight, ground vehicles, ships, subs ..). Perhaps the future will be to join all those worlds in large massive battlegrounds with multirole capability. My dream will be a mmosim (massive multiplayer online simulator).

We've had enough helicopter sims. I say more jets!!! ...all kidding aside, I would love to have tanks and such added, but I doubt that it's possible/feasible/likely/ever-going-to-happen...Maybe if ED got together with the people from steel beasts...

The good thing is it's the same socket as most CPU's on the market. The bad thing, as I said, is that you'll aparently only be able to get a CPU with an FSB of 266,5MHz max. Which isn't half bad, but doesn't give you a whole lot of options to be honest. With a FSB like that you'll be looking at an E6*** or Q6*** processor. The Q6600 is still fairly pricey, and eventhough I'm perfectly happy with mine, I wouldn't recommend getting that one for new, it'd be better to shell out a little more cash when you have the chance, and make a leap of progress, rather than a not all that big of a step. You can check Tomshardware's CPU charts. Or, you could buff the €250 to €500 or something when you can, and go for a newer/better system that way. It's always tricky advising people what to upgrade. Upgrading can be a lot of money, and not always be money well spent. It kinda depends on what you expect/are willing to spend. That said, for now, seeing as your processor isn't that half bad to be quite honest, and mainly that it's not old enough to really have any feasible upgrades that come at a low price, I'd suggest giving the RAM a good hugging for the time being :) Shouldn't cost much, but will make a difference, not necessarily much of a difference either though. -Z

:clap_2: Very nice gesture, and a great idea! Rep inbound! :puke: You guys are flipping incessant with this misinformation. Why are you so determined to steer people into a crappy counterfeit? Do you even own a TrackIR 4? There's no comparison in hardware specs (except with TrackIR 1, which is ancient, and wasn't even designed for gaming). $15 is going to get you a webcam with a horrible frame rate and 30+ ms latency. Both are the death sentence for accurate tracking. This guy is trying to get a cool technology into the hands of people who'd like to try it, and the FreeLoaders just can't help but break into the conversation like a spoiled little kid. I feel like I want to have a dialogue with another adult, but my 4 year old niece just won't stop tugging on my sleeve so I'll look at the turd she just dropped in the living room. TrackIR 2 will work in mouse emulation mode (i.e. 2 DOF). It isn't as good as TIR 3 or 4 from a spec standpoint though. 2's resolution and sample rate is worse than both, and like the 3, the FOV is 33 degrees (compared for 4's 46 degrees). Still, with a higher combination of FPS and sensor resolution than just about any webcam or Wiimote, it's a start!

Or people could spend 15 dollars and use freetrack wich works just as well... :) And it has 6DOF.
