I made my own affinity tool for myself a few days ago in AutoIt when I found I couldn't get TaskAssign to work. At first it was a simple script that would run in the background and set the dcs.exe affinity when it found one, but I kept adding onto it. I wanted to merge the two Black Shark desktop icons into one and never have to set the affinity again. After I decided I was going to release it on the forums I cleaned up the interface, optimized some shaky code and added some error checking. Here is the result: EDIT: Use this new google code project page for instructions and download link. Version 2 removes the need for any user configuration. Just run and it works.2 points

Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark" Checklist Fairchild Republic A-10C "Warthog" checklist can be found here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=55949 I created 2 versions now of the Normal Checklist : - Normal Checklist (Beginner) This is the checklist as I started out, with keyboard and position columns for the beginner. - Normal Checklist (Pro) This is the same format/layout as a reallife professional checklist, it has no switch locations or keyboard shortcuts in it. This adds to the reality effect and can be used if you know where the switches are. Eventually you should be using the Pro checklist ofcourse. =-) Download: Normal Checklist (Beginner) Normal Checklist (Beginner) v2.1.pdf Normal Checklist (Pro) Normal Checklist (Pro) v2.1.pdf Probably the best thing is to print it out using 2 pages per side so one page has A5 size. Changelog: ************** Normal Checklist Version 2.1 ************* Stopped/Running engine temp gauge test figures added. ************** Normal Checklist Version 2.0 ************* Item location panels now correspond to the manual so beginners can find the items easier. Several items renamed to correspond to in game labels. ************* Normal Checklist Version 1.9.1 ************ Typo fixed thanks to ddahlstrom ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.9 ************* Fixed Fire Suppression mode label to OPER instead of WORK Moved Cyclic/Rudder/Collective Movement check before setting engines to Auto throttle, this way it is the normal way to check, not when the engines are in flight power, checking collective movement would cause the a/c to lift off. ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.8 ************* Fixed error in ground power key assignment, thanks Nightshadow81 ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.7 ************* Removed "Targeting Navigation System ON" as it is for ground/maintenance purposes ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.6 ************* Fixed a error, "INU Heat" first then "INU Power ON" ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.5 ************* Added Hot Refuel/Rearm Checklist During Shutdown checklists set Parking Brake First to prevent a/c movement in high wind conditions ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.4 ************* Added Collective Low Check before engine startup Added Governor L&R Off in shutdown checklist ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.3 ************* Some minor errors corrected Made a Pro & Beginner version Pro has no keyboard shortcuts and location columns ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.2 ************* Some errors corrected Items added that I missed Some orders changed (allthough in game the order doesn't seem to matter) All keyboard assignments added ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.1 ************* Some minor changes/errors I found while using the checklist they have been fixed now. ************** Normal Checklist Version 1.0 ************* Initial release.1 point

The trick that you didn´t know when you started with the sim but now is vital, that procedure that you did wrong and you found the proper way, the hardest thing you had to learn and how you did it, those little things not well documented that you learned by trial and error or researching, that hotkey or switch you always forgot and could have save you loads of hours....1 point

Well I finished my simpit. I love it. It's worth the effort. I couldn't have done it without the encouragement from you guys and a great CAD program called Google Sketch It (free). http://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=1501 point

Does your joystick have the twist assigned to the rudder? I found that BS assigned the rudder to both the pedals, and the joystick, causing some unwanted rudder action.1 point

Adobe PhotoDeluxe 1.0 for Windows and Macintosh. Если кто хочет спасти его от свалки, могу продать. Цена ваша, но такая, чтоб не жалко было ехать к вам с этой бандурой. :) Дефолт сити.1 point

Thanks GS2, Ive often wonder'd about this, as Im being chased all over creation by em nasty fighters, that want nothing more than to give me a A2A enema.;)1 point

It surely depends on the opponent fighter that is aiming at you. AFAIK F-15C and Su-27 give almost the same readings, whereas a MiG-29S will give much weaker readings at the same distance. I think, 50% on the RWR will indicate somewhat about 100-120 km for the Su-27/F-15C, while at the same time it could be a MiG-29S at about 80 km distance. So the MiG with a weaker radar has to be closer for the same indication. Values are a rough estimate based on my experience.1 point

before saying 'it won't work', you guy should read carefully what ModMan said you when it detect that your game is installed in c:\program files\ folder on a vista OS.... ;) here is what you should read (in setup installer) before choosing your install path did you read it ? i think no :) Windows VISTA 32bits and 64bits users: Don't install ModMan and your game in "c:\program files\" folder due to UAC protect feature. hehe ok CH stuff here we go.. 1: When you unpack them your first impression is that you have made a terrible mistake. You just payed out a small fortune for stuff you have seen your mate playing with last century. Zero sex appeal. Seriously look "meh". You notice the stick isn't the same stick your mate had last century because it now has 3 lights on it and a USB plug. Same deal with the throttle, memories of the ubber throttle quadrant for the FLCS or the saitek come to mind as you stare as this bland piece of yawn. Then you pull out the pedals, soooo close together. Yep ... ripped off. But NO! You aint hehhe. In fact you got what you paid for. Some seriously sweet hardware the has no style whatsoever but works like a treat. 1: Stick, looks meh. Spring pressure is way way low. You first thought is god this is not good. After you get used to it then you may start to think differently. I chuckle at all the trimming threads as I hardly ever trim unless I have to scratch my nuts or something. It is deadly accurate, does what it is meant to very very well. If your table is smooth and clean they won't move and inch. 2: Throttle, looks uber meh. WTF is up with this slide thing? Get used to it. Remember a collective should be used in the opposite way to a fighter. Fighter you would push forward to "power up". In a chopper you pull it towards you (Or up) to "power up". It won't take long to get the hang of this and now I can switch between chopper and planes no worries. You will be pleasantly surprised when you find out how accurate the thing is and another plus, it stays exactly where you left it. No creep. Also won't move if table is smooth and clean. 3: Pedals. Once again with all CH stuff. They look crap. Also a bit close together for my liking but you get used to it and they take up way less space then my old thrustmaster setup. Once again very very accurate. However on carpet the damn things move around like they have a life of their own. I jammed a couple of books between them and the wall that sorted the problem :) 4: Every one of them need a USB 2.0 port. The DO NOT daisy chain. If you don't have that many ports spare you have to get a powered USB hub but make sure it will work with them. Anyway as you can tell I love them. I spent quite a bit of time doing research before I bought them. I wanted something that I did not have to modify out of the box and I wanted it to work well. The only thing I have to find out for myself is the longevity of them, So far I have flogged them hard for a couple of months and still deadly accurate. Time will tell on long term but from what I have read it should be pretty good. Some linkages for you.. another one of the reasons I bought CH. Community support is hardcore :) The CH Hangar http://www.ch-hangar.com/ Stickworks... http://home.att.net/~stickworks/contents.htm From these forums comes this thread by Ghost... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33591 Want to mod that CH stuff aye?? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35520 Now scroll down...... You just started grinning didn't you emenance  Anyway questions about programing should not be directed at me because I know squat about it. I learned to program in only what I needed, I was more interested in flying then fighting so as long as the gear came up and I got toe brakes I am a happy camper :)1 point

The ability to do such would need to be hard coded into the game I imagine. We really should have a dedicated server by now. The fact that we don't is pretty pathetic in my opinion. Hosting is sloppy and tacked-on at the moment.1 point

You can just make a real simple profile with this in it: USE ALL_DIRECTX_BUTTONS Then all buttons will be DX buttons except the ones you specifically program. You may need to add this also: USE HAT1 AS POV to get panning view control with the hat. Take a look at the TM Default for games profile that comes with Foxy, it basically does this, plus sets the microstick up for mouse emulation. Hope it helps..1 point
-

Beyond my expertise. You'd have to know a whole lot more of how the sim is coded, how Vista gets a boost where XP doesn't and the raw data of the utilisation of the sim on your PC to even come close to answering what's going on. When I first start a mission (and I chose Battle single mission as an example) DCS is running on a single core at 100% utilisation while the sim is paused. If I then tab out and change the affinity to all 4 of my cores, I get an instant ~15fps boost. Therefore it's obvious that the engine isn't being GPU limited but CPU limited. Throw a faster processor, change nothing else and the FPS will rise even more. Now, how Vista is handling those threads within DCS is a mystery to me (there were 22 threads running under DCS.exe when I checked during battle and have seen as little at 18 ) Theoretically, each thread can run on any 4 of my cores. I can't explain why the kludge works for Vista and not XP though. I'm a hardware guy, predominantly server and storage and only dabble in OS and software on the side. Most of the time core 3 on my box gets the most workout when I spread the affinity across all 4 cores and will peg upwards of 90%. Now, whatever thread(s) are on that core are again bound by the limit of the CPU and regardless of whether the other cores are relatively idle, you've again hit a bottleneck. A thread can be as simple as an I/O request from the sim to disk or the whole guts of the sim, depends largely on the code. If you were to look at CPU utilisation as a whole, it wouldn't show a maxxed CPU but if you split it by cores, at least 1 core may be running near max - hence, your ceiling performance wise has been reached even though you have 3 cores worth of CPU cycles relatively idle. Then there's the engine itself, the inner workings that I'm not privvy too. Take FSX as an example, you can limit the FPS so that the engine can devote more CPU cycles to other things (like drawing distance, buildings, AI aircraft, etc). Perhaps DCS is limiting CPU dedicated to FPS in this way so that it has left over CPU cycles for the flight model for instance.1 point

FC is made to install into an existing LOMAC installation- it's not a complete sim itself. Install- 1. your original LOMAC >> FC >> 1.12 patch IIRC- each update will place another icon on your desktop- get rid of the older ones. Does the problem occur with the FC install itself or the 1.12 patch install? In what form did you pick up FC? (a cd or a download?) PICK YOUR 1.12 PATCH CAREFULLY!! There are 3 versions of it for the various media (cd, Euro-cd, download) Installing the wrong one will cause all kinds of havoc.1 point

Update: I've solved my own problem; and it is not difficult to fix!! This is a known issue with a few people, and it usually occurs when you mix new vid cards (nvidia anyway), new drivers, and try to run DX9 games with DX10. The solution: Force DX9 in DCS: BlackShark. The method: 1. Right-click on your DCS shortcut. 2. Select 'properties' from the menu. 3. In the 'target' box, rename the shortcut to include "-DX9". *example* "C:\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console would now look like ---> "C:\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" -DX9 --console 4. Click 'Apply'. This should run BlackShark in DX9 now, and as an added bonus, I get a couple extra FPS! Hope this helps any others!!1 point
