День добрый! Недавно приобрёл игру Lock-On Горячие Скалы и пропатчил до версии 1.12 В целом игра понравилась, хотя имеются вопросы. :book: 1.

I don't know if this has been asked before and I serached the threads on it, but to no avail... In FC 2.0 multiplayer, is there AWACS support for the Ka-50?? If there is support, is it going to be like in FC/LO where I get messages all the time if there are enemy aircraft in theater? Or is it going to be that I can dial him up on a freq, so I dont have to listen to constant updates? Thanks in advance!1 point

I second to that also. I'm long time F-16 enthusiast, partially thanks to Falcon 4.0 and its offspring, partially because it's a truly multirole and partially because of it's, in many ways unique, design. And after my contry acquired some of them, I'm really obsessed :D Another favourite is F/A-18, another multirole and carrier capable, to add even more spice :) I'm myself really curious, how would that be, to try realistic Falcon, but in another skin, so to speak ;) So familiar, yet so different. Right now I wait in patience for the A-10C and FC2, but l can't help but think ahead, like every pilot should do during flight ;) Blue Thunder and Airwolf are codenames of super-helicopters, which were the main stars of a movie and TV series, respectively. The first (being my long time favourite) was a modified Gazelle, the second was made from Bell 222. There are detailed articles about them everywhere on the Internet (like Wikipedia and imdb.com), also Google picture search shows various photos and sketches of the two.1 point

Topol-m, it's not fair! It's about aviation knowledge, not real video-games :D Your question isn't up to this thread standards :P1 point

Great that this mod is continued! Acedy, thanks for creating the scripts! Panzertard, Yoda, thanks for continuing its development!1 point

There aren't exactly blueprints of the A-10 cockpit floating around the internet, but I found this... ...here: http://www.strandedduckling.com/html/frame.html I have no idea who this "BigB" guy is or where he got those dimensions, but I can tell you that they're pretty close.1 point

I was an Aviation Environmental Systems Technician for a while in the military. There are a lot of different systems used for cooling weapons and equipment, but the two most widely used are Air Cycle Turbines (ram air) and Chemical Condenser (liquid chemical). The liquid chemical system is similar to what you'd see in a car, but the military uses chemicals that make freon seem drinkable in your morning coffee. In some heat exchange systems they use liquid nitrogen when necessary, but that is super inefficient and dangerous due to the high expansion rate (800:1) of a chemical that is -321F. Liquid nitrogen is just super compressed gas. It's much more efficient to compress a gas or liquid in a closed system where it doesn't have to bleed off. The Air Cycle system is interesting and super efficient: There's a scoop that takes in ambient high speed air from the outside of the aircraft. It flows through a turbine fan that is connected to a shaft to another turbine fan that turns fast enough to pull clean air from around the outside of the compression section of the jet engine(bleed air). The hot air is forced by that turbine system (ram air), through a small orifice. The physical impact of the super heated air being rammed with such force through a small orifice super cools the air to around -30F. This system also inherently pulls any moisture out of the air. Other valves provide pure hot bleed air to increase the temp of that air if it drops too low, depending on the system or area being cooled. On most weapons systems there are elaborate heat exchangers made of classified materials that this air runs through. A good example of this physical reaction of Ram Air is to blow on your hand with your mouth open (like steaming glasses to be cleaned), then blow on your hand like you're cooling it (small orifice in lips). In Russia, I wonder if they allow for the ambient air being cold enough to cool systems and have a mechanism to turn the env system off in that case hehehe. I've read about how the trees explode from the cold there. Have you seen this happen EtherealN? Do you have to use special cold resistant tires on your car? Can permafrost be used to cool your beer? I've always dreamed of camping in the Taiga.. now THAT is roughing it.1 point

Thanks Acedy for your effort and for what you have done for community. I think Yoda and Panzer are good successors for this great anti-retards tool :)1 point

The main body (the green thing between the wheels) is shaped like a wing, where the motor sits, it's just a top-down-U-shaped wing. The handle acts as an elevator and vertical stabilizer. The prop sits centered in front of the main body.1 point

Prop is can be seemed at the front of this 'flying trimmer'. You know these kinda light weight machines with a strong prop engine can do everything in the air. The elevators and ailerons are usually placed at the back side of the model, so at this angle (you see on video) they are not so clear to be noticed)1 point

I got to admit, that I missed your point, SUBS17. However, if it is, what you noted in your post: I've got to say, that you missed the point of the /U /M /D modifiers. What you programmed is a simple switch. You have to do that with e.g. press and release commands: BTN T7 /P Dogfight_override_mod /R MRM/DF_override_cancel BTN T8 /P MRM_override_mode /R MRM/DF_override_cancel The /U /M /D modifiers apply to other buttons in case you used the DF-Override-Switch as a modus-switch. In this case, you can add /U /M /D modifiers to other buttons: BTN T9 /U (function1) /M (function2) /D (function3) In which case T9 performs function1 when DF-Switch is in the up-position and BTN 9 is activated, function2 if the DF-switch is in the middle position and function3 if in the down-position. Please check the help-file for further details.1 point

If you are flying a russian plane, in the search phase it's better probably to use the ППС mode on your Radar. This gives you a better range of detection. You also need to scan the entire area in front of you. Point your antenna to the left, check the elevation, then center, and right in a contineous loop, so that you don't miss any targets that are not exactly in front of you. When you see a target, first you should make sure if he's alone, or there are more in close proximity. So you don't lock the bandit just yet. But try to remember his position/spd/alt. Look out for other bandits, and when you're already close enough to engage and fire you're weapons, then you should lock and fire. Depending on the weapons you use, there is a different strategy you may employ, but basic advices are: - After firing, point your nose off the target(but try to maintain the lock), don't just proceed ahead at full speed. - Watch your SPO warning system. It will give you valuable information on what's the enemy doing and the weapons he may be using against you. - Don't get too close if you're not sure what is happening, better be safe then sorry. My personal advice is to disengage and extend at a range of 15km or more to the bandit. This keeps your escape window open, any further and it shrinks significantly. - If you're alone, do not engage multiple bandits, you may hit one, but you'll probably also get shot down. The best advice is to join a well established online squad, flying the type of plane you fly. They'll probably teach you all about Air to Air Combat.1 point

Thanks again. I of course appreciate everything that is going on that brings an update to Lock On. I appreciate the hard work and all the time. I guess I can only hope in the future that some of these multiplayer quirks such as tail numbers, skins, payload editing, mutiplayer lobby etc. come with further DCS modules. I know that not all is possible, and that mutiplayer is not the be all / end all, but I hope the future brings a strong focus on mutiplayer. I do look forward to all the pluses that FC 2 will bring :thumbup:1 point

VERSION 2 HAS BEEN RELEASED!! REFER TO THE FIRST POST FOR UPDATES! Important announcement: v2 is the last version of this mod that will be developed by myself. However, this does not mean that it is going to die. I know that alot of servers are using it, so I have been looking for successors who would like to continue the work. Fortunately Panzertard and =RvE=Yoda have volunteered to do so, which I appreciate very much. Thanks fellas! As you all know they are very active members of the DCS/LO community, and I am sure the mod will be in good hands. From now on they are the new developers of this tool, so please direct any suggestions for new features to them! :)1 point

FC2 is based on the Black Shark code. The features in question were no longer supported when the Black Shark multiplayer and GUI code was written. ED did invest in adding code to support payload changes for the FC flyables in the new code, which was not there to start with (in Black Shark).1 point

Technically strafing in the military sense is firing a numerous amount of unguided ordnance in a forward direction from the air to the ground from a moving platform. The linear trail of bullets kicking up two trails of sand on the beach you see in Hollywood films is bad strafing from an inexperienced pilot. Good strafing puts all rounds in a "fuzzy circle" that is not elongated at all. In most cases you want to use the full functionality of the Shkval system with its ability to track moving targets, aim the cannon within the traverse and elevation limits, and improve range-related aiming. Rarely is setting weapons to fixed or manual going to give improved results over the normal automated modes. 2A42 30mm Cannon Perhaps unexpectedly 2A42 cannon typically has a range advantage over rockets which is a good thing. Altitude and speed give good and marginal improvements in ballistics respectively. The primary weapons controls are RoF, Burst Length, and AP/HE. Rate of Fire is a balance between speed and stability. A high rate of fire gets the burst out quickly so the attack run can be ended sooner for more safety. The high bullet density reduces the chances of a wiley (helicopter) foe from dodging the rounds. The time that the cannon has to be pointed in the right direction is likewise reduced which otherwise might be tiring for the pilot. The downsides are that a high rate of fire upsets the airframe more and can produce misses. Also the chance of correcting errors in aim is less because the burst is shorter in duration. Burst Length is again a compromise. The burst should be tailored to the target. How many rounds (-% that are going to miss) are needed to confidently destroy the target? Ideally, the pilot should fire one and only one burst (minimum length to confidently destroy the target) per target before moving to the next target or breaking off the attack. HE/AP. HE is the usual round for most targets. AP is best used with the narrow range of targets that are light enough armor to be susceptible to 30mm fire but are too strong for HE rounds. BTR-90s to T-55s is approximately this range. The BRDM is better attacked with HE and T-72s are too much for all but a determined AP round user. Examples: Short, low RoF, HE - Soft non-threat static truck with high confidence of hit Medium, high RoF, HE - Static towed AAA emplacement Long, low RoF, AP - Static T-55 Medium, high RoF, AP - Moving BMD Since the 2A42 is not mounted on the centerline of the aircraft, the pilot will notice a "sweet spot" when the target is slightly right of HUD center where the recoil from the cannon is directly in line center of mass of the helicopter. Firing from this "sweet spot" won't upset the helicopter. Attacking a moving convoy is best done directly from the rear (2nd place directly from the front). Aiming is easier, closing speed is reduced, and rounds have been known to bounce off the ground and hit the thin armor under some vehicles. Defensive weaponry is also less likely to be effective firing to the rear. The BMD-1 (I think) for example cannot turn its turret rearward. S-8/ S-13 One of the most unfortunate things about the S-8KOM is that it is an anti-armor weapon which requires a direct hit to destroy any even lightly armored target and a near miss to affect softer targets. The S-8OFP2, which is available in DCS:BS is rarely configured to be used on missions and is not present in the maintenance rearm menu, is much better against soft targets with indirect effects. Because of this it's important to concentrate these rockets are tightly as possible to increase pK against the desired target. The aircraft should be made extremely stable prior to firing as yaw and pitch moments can send the rockets well off course. Fire in medium (25% S-8 pod) or long (50% S-8 pod) bursts at the center of target clusters. Attempt to aim at a single specific target, even if at the center of a moderately dense target group and accept that even one target destroyed is a good result. The short (1 rocket per pod) burst setting should be reserved for live fire training and S-8TsM smoke marking uses. It may be required to switch the fire control system from automatic to manual to achieve acceptable firing ranges (and thus safety) in a high-threat environment at the cost of accuracy. The S-13 is another misleading beast. The rocket variant modeled is designed to destroy by penetration into hardened concrete or earthen structures such as aircraft shelters or bunkers. The warhead type is unsuitable for soft targets and the rocket density (5 per pod) makes hitting anything armored an extremely lucky event. Attacking Psychology Overall, success in terms of safety and effectiveness is achieved in unguided ordinance delivery by some simple rules: Right tool for the job. Understand what your ordnance is capable and not capable of and choose accordingly. Precision and fire concentration. It is much better to kill 1 target than to almost kill 10 targets. Plan and execute. Decide beforehand what the attack attempt will look like in terms of weapons used, range initiated, and range terminated and stick to that plan. Don't get shot down trying to improvise or lookey-loo at your handiwork.1 point

Actually, they were two so you'd be looking for a pluralis there, and who cares if they were "fake" or not? Nas ne nagonyat was still a kickass song and that's what matters. ;) Oh, and if it's "one hit wonder" it's an 11 years long and 6-studio album hit. :P1 point

Hi Divinuz, Slower than I'd like, but it is coming along. One of the delays was that after much discussions with the beta testers, which by the way include a real-world military helo pilot from Eastern Europe, it was decided that flight school needed to be the first series released. We are now in the script development stage. After that is validated we go to production, testing, then release. I'm sorry it is taking a long time, but I rather release a great set of videos rather than a rushed one.1 point
