COLD WAR Echo Event is made for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 1.12 combat flight simulator users, and in future for LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 2 users, after release in early 2010. In this event we simulate possible air conflicts of Cold War between USA and USSR. Where USSR side is represented by russian speaking community, and USA - by english speaking. Our first event will be held on 27th of February 2010 in honor of LOFC retirement and coming release of LOFC2. Briefing will be available on 30th of January on our forum. Registrations for the Event will be started on 16th of January. Format - 24x24 (may be changed after crashtest). Alright, a while back before I even installed DCS: Black Shark, I went through all of the producers notes so I wouldn't have to wait a million years before I could fly the Ka-50. As I was watching these, I was always thinking "Man, these videos are reaally long, and there is like no enthusiasm in this guy's voice." Sorry, Mr. Wagner. I mean, the videos certainly have a lot of information in them, perhaps even too much information for a lot of the users (Like explaning the page in the ABRIS that details satellite locations and their effect on accuracy.) There certainly are some people who will use that information, but I can imagine that those people are a smaller minority. So, when it came time to play the game, I couldn't remember much at all from the producer's notes. Not all information had stuck with me. I decided to make my own series of tutorials, sacrificing the amount of information for less time and a much, much more casual tone. I figure that if I take a much more casual tone and focus more in the key elements, then people will benefit more from it because it will keep their attention better. Now, I am not an expert with the Ka-50, I probably made some mistakes. I am always up for re-making these videos. They seriously took me like fifteen minutes each. If you spot an error in any of my videos, please point them out to me. I can at least make a comment within the video itself, if I don't remake the video entirely. Some videos may have some language in them, possibly deeming them NSFW if you have speakers. Again, I stress that I took a very casual feel to them. Autopilot Tutorial - I plan to remake this one later, it is too long at nine minutes, and I stutter and say "uhhhh" too much. The units needed are units we have in DCS and the info needed is selectable ammo type and rates of fire. Dmut made his post to request that the information be provided as directly as possible, i.e. already extracted from the sources instead of linking us to said sources. Basically, save time for us if possible.1 point

1. You forgot all the people who bought new hardware for their computer to be able to run BS with acceptable fps. And also all the input hardware(HOTAS, TrackIR and so on.);) 2. It is solid, but unfinished in my AND in many other people's opinion. No one says that we are dissapointed because of this! I never would do. I and others are dissapointed of the priority of ED's developement. Thats all. 1st A-10 and 2nd FC2.0 and we(at least we both :)) would not discuss now;) :thumbup: Good call... Where is the mission cache? Is it the temp folder?!? Seems like Trackfiles only...no names, just date+time as filename. The only one released SDK yet.;) They never said that they release it shortly...sure... No, I talked about AI (Artificial Intelligence) Radio Chatter. Not human;) AI Radio Chatter is not possible because there is no dynamic battlefield/campaign. And even when you put in thousands of Air&Ground units, you never will hear them talking. You never hear some Flights calling for help. You never will hear AWACS telling you that Bandits are inbound. You never will hear Tanks calling CAS. etc. etc. You completely miss the point. Even when there are 100+ missions all over the internet, which I doubt!! It is absolutely annoying for many of us, making missions. And hey, I make missions in ArmA since OFP! You know that demonic editor, scripting language and nutty engine behviour and bugs??:D But we are not talking about strange behaviour...we are talking about missing functions!!! That is much more worse then some bugs which can fixed. For lonewolfes or public player it might be okay. But for a big Online Squad it is neccesary to make interesting and/or dynamic missions/campaigns. And not to hopping through a few servers and grab missions from where you have no Idea if their quality is good. I'm really not sure;) It is not the thing with the mission. It is not the thing with the radio chatter etc. It is the sum of all together that makes long time multiplayer gaming for a online squad magotty (hope that expressions is correct!?) But when comes the improvements? When comes the mission planner? With A-10 or later? Or, other then stated, with a patch before the a-10 comes? There is no official statement, which tells me that it will not come before A-10. Earliest date... AND: I am interested in multiplayer gaming only. You see, I absolutely know what you mean. But I don't know a single Teammate(from our 90(!) pilots) that have FC ;)1 point

Dcs wouldn't exist I feel if it weren't for lockon. And for those who haven't played lockon the su25t is an outstanding flight model and to be combat effective takes quite a bit of study and aviation skill. The flight sim community is tiny and it's nice to have a number of quality products to choose from. F.c 2 will give shark and "study sim" heads a chance to have player fight/strike support in an online community. If it weren't for dcs a modern day flight "study sim" wouldn't be realized and you'd be chasing the ever lasting development of fighter ops or jet thunder for a modern high fidelity study sim. It's not about what you want or what I want. It's about what dcs decides and we roll with that. They take all the risk and we in the end get a solid product at a pricepoint under $40.1 point

No. Majority of DCS user that came from LockOn/FC want it. ;) DCS user from Falcon and/or other sims and/or new to sims don't (because most of them wouldn't/can't use it. They/we need other things that are much more important.);)1 point

Началось все с конкретного предложения: Вместо того чтобы ответить: "Мы посмотрим что можно сделать с сетевым интерфейсом для облегчения администрации сетевой игры в будущих проектах и патче, если он будет" посыпались предложения использовать скрипты, постоянно админить сервак и улучшить помыслы игроков интересной миссией. Зачем тогда редактор миссий делали? Там-же тоже код открытый, кажись. Можно тоже было ответить: "мы вам исходники дали, пишите как хотите, каждый под себя". Непонятно мне это.1 point

Well, just for the record, I also couldn't care less about FC2.0... I only fly study sims. However, I'm not going to begrudge ED for developing a product that alot of people want! I just hope they get back and start focusing on DCS only soon. Mission planner sounds like a nice improvement. How about a better mission debrief system as well? On a side note, this is the ED forums where FC and LOMAC have had a home for many years now. The vast majority of the people on this forum might be screaming for FC2.0, but don't see how you guys can claim that the majority of DCS: BS flyers want it. The population of this forum is LOMAC/FC biased. In fact, I'm hoping that the FC2.0 doesn't come for quite a long time because I'm afraid that all the missions we've spent so much time building will become incompatable with DCS/FC2.0. Does anyone know for sure or not if this will happen?1 point

I am not sure what you meant in your post about "thrust-drag-intercept points". Missiles can pull massive G's, but it costs them energy to do so. The secret to missile evasion in LO is to minimise the amount of energy the missile has at the intercept point so that it cannot pull those massive G's and hit you. The equation the missile has to solve is a bit more complicated than just determining where the target will be in a future point in time and trying to get there as fast as possible. The missile also needs to arrive at the intercept point with sufficient energy to maneuver and hit the target. I have little idea what the intercept logic for a LOMAC missile is but would like to hear from anyone who has studied it. I spent a few years selling Process Instrumentation and Numeric Controllers so control logic is an interesting subject for me. A "really dumb" missile would just head straight to the target. ( HOJ shot ?? ) A "less dumb missile" would just calculate the targets motion vector and aim for a point ahead of the plane ( Lead pursuit? ) maybe switch to aiming directly at the target just before impact ( Pure Pursuit? ). A "smarter" missile would leave the rail and ( assume a "long" intercept flight ) immediately start climbing. Why? Air resistance is a speed^2 function so the slower the missile flies the less energy it loses to friction. It can also get that Gravitational Energy back at the end of the flight when it comes downhill to hit the target. Lower air density will allow the missile to fly further and faster too. The above is just some thoughts. From watching Ironhand's tutorials and replaying my own Tacview tracks it appears the Medium and Short range missiles just fly a "less dumb" profile, although the ER seems to initially climb when coming off the rail in a direct head-to-head. Open the Mission Editor and Click on the Helo Icon on the Left. Find an Airbase and Click over the Runway - You will see the Helo Icon appear in Yellow as well as a Menu open on the Right side of the screen. From the Right menu, ensure you select 'Player' from the Skill Tab and 'Takeoff from Ramp' from the Type Tab to ensure a Cold-Start. Hit the 'Fly' Icon, Save the Mission and you're Good to Go :)1 point

Eagle Dynamics is making very sound decision in releasing the Flaming Cliffs 2.0. Lock On/Flaming Cliffs series is still very popular all over the world and continuing that series makes perfect sense. I am eagerly awaiting release of the FC 2.01 point

Yes, noticed and unhappy:( I don't have FC, I don't want FC. I want the Apache Module. And this needs first the A-10 Module(would also be nice to have ;)). And the longer the A-10 takes, the longer the Apache takes. Oh, and before I forget...I want a new engine (okay, not really, just Mutlithreading and 64 bit .exe:music_whistling:) Sorry, but that's all what is going through my mind when I read this.:huh: Why does the FC2.0 Patch have priority over the A-10? (I read it this way) But, Groove or EvilBivol-1, does the FC2.0 supports the A-10 Module? And maybe also the upcoming Apache Module?1 point

Не могу не поделиться, прошёл таки вторую миссию "конвой":clap::clap::clap:!!! 5 вечеров мучений и вот оно счастье, отбил да-же Серёгу, хотя он всё равно встал как вкопанный, и в наушниках "...Серёгу потеряли!", ну да ладно не суть. Искренне благодарен создателям, т.к. эта миссия научила меня ОЧЕНЬ многому, даже наверное перевела в следующий уровень ). Проходил я так, до конвоя иду низко 100 м и ниже, "... чтобы духам меньше времени на прицеливание", скорость 180-200 км. А это уже непросто, рельеф скачет то вверх, то вниз, то вдруг упираешься в склон горы, то ветром сносит(во всяком случае мне показалось, что всю дорогу до левого поворота, машину тянуло в сторону и шла она, как-бы немного боком). А потом принимаешь патрулирование, высота 200-300 и на максимальной вперёд, выскакиваешь на аул за поворотом (не помню какой) и на те здрасте, стоят не смущаются в лесочке бородатые дяденьки. Резко правый вираж с набором высоты и отстрелом ловушек. Отход назад на 3,5 км от аула разворот по цели, зависаю(до этого просто неумел), несколько коротких очередей фугасными из пушки, 5-6 боевиков срезал, но я то знаю их больше, ведомый получает задачу "...атака наземных целей!", а я потихоньку набираю высоту и жду когда ведомый разделается с оставшимися целями. Серёга долбит в "зелёнку", у меня высота 500 или выше, самое то для первого залпа НУРсами с обоих подвесок. При залпе сначала чуть опускаю нос, а потом сразу рукоять на себя, но немного. Площадь накрытию у 40 ракет, такая что как раз хватает накрыть от края дороги до дома из которого боевики с РПГ выскочили. Дальше отстрел ув-29 и пикурую(по другому не скажешь) на остатки банды, четыре десятка НУРсов аккуратно ложится в деревья откуда вины очереди трассеров. Вот и всё, да-же второго захода не потребовалось. Довольный пошёл будить жену (времени 02:00 часа), а она ворчит и не радуется, ну что с неё взять она же не "болеет" ЧА. Вот... Кстати вопрос, второй залп произвожу с высоты менее 50 метров, разрывы ракет на расстоянии метров сто, а то и меньше, но машина чистая, ни одного осколка не вернулось, как так? ведь в ограничениях к использованию НАР указанно - минимальная дальность пуска 1000 метров ???1 point

To be honest one day I would like to be able to ..... land my chopper, get out and...... pop a few rounds off from my side arm as I..... mount my tank and fire off a few rounds off. Then drive over to the jet fighter..... Fly that out to the carrier fleet.... take control of the battle group and let some hell rain forth.... etc... all in study sim' quality... Just dreaming but wouldn't it be awesome :)1 point
