I'm working on a tweak guide for DCS Blackshark. I think it would be nice to have a good guide for the community seen that information about this topic is all over the place. For this, I need your support! I would like to see if anyone can add missing things and test settings. Note that the tweak guide is not fully ready yet. I'm still about to add city tweaks, as these often give the biggest frame rate issues. Thanks in advance! You are a bit touchy it seems... relax??? In the case with F-35 and its engines as an example, the only reason it has not been further developed in Russia was because of $$$, unlike the U.S., Russia does not print $$$ for the rest of the world, thus no freedom to add zeroes to military contracts at will, so it is purely an economic win. This is why 4C Hajduk is saying what he is saying (research further on Yak-141 if you would like):2 points

I made myself a dedicated server for rookie players :joystick: Had to select “buy again” on the shop but this SIM is really worth every penny spent. Hope Eddie doesn’t mind me using his missions for the server. I have a couple of configurations to do on the server lua file still but that will all be fixed before next weekends rookie meet :) If you have suggestion for other “easy” missions with a lot of friendly and foe please let me know. Tested it today and people were joining as I tested! Think it works OK. It will be on the serverlist for this evening and running Eddies two missions with a 3 hour turnover. Servername “HiJack rookie server”. I'm usually flying online as HiJack :smilewink: Note that the server is running Server Manager and you will get kicked for teamkilling. ®2 points

Hey, I just got done (I think) with the first version of a fairly large and long mission I am calling The Battle of Zugdidi. Though it's got spots for 12 people, it can be completed by as few as three or four. I'd personally recommend five or six. I'd would be highly appreciative should any of you fly this that you report any bugs you might find! WARNING! due to the large number of units in this mission, some users with older computers will experience low frame rates at the beginning of the mission while the enemy is attacking. Here is the briefing: SITREP Ground: NATO has attacked our army in Georgia in an attempt to push us out of the country. Our last major stronghold in the Samegrelo region is Zugdidi. We have detected a major NATO armored attack coming from the south. Frontal aviation will be tasked with repelling the enemy attack and then providing close air support to friendly forces in an attempt to break out from Zugdidi and capture positions to the south. Enemy ground composition includes armored vehicles from the US army, armored vehicles from the remnants of Georgia’s army, and a scattering of air defense vehicles (mainly Rolands) belonging to the German army. Air: Currently, neither side enjoys much of an advantage. Our forces have deployed SA-10s and SA-11s that are preventing enemy air from operating over the battlefield. Likewise, the enemy has deployed Patriot, Hawk, Roland, and short range IR guided missiles to prevent us from supporting our ground troops using fixed-wing assets. Frontal aviation will be tasked with opening up the air war by approaching the Patriot SAM site in NOE flight and destroying it, allowing our Fixed-wing SEAD aircraft to get close enough to take out the Hawk and Roland sites. Once all long range radar guided SAMs are destroyed, we will launch CAP, SEAD patrol, CAS, and other strikes using fixed-wing aircraft. FARPs: Currently, we have two FARPs in operation: one located in the Zugdidi central park area, and the other located 16 km to the northwest, south of Gali. KA-50 aircraft groups 1 through 6 will be based out of Zugdidi, and groups 7 through 12 will be based at the northwest FARP. INTEL Army units: A major enemy offensive against our forces in Zugdidi is expected in the very near future. The enemy supply level is good, and their morale is high. The enemy has deployed defensively near major bridges and at opportune ambush locations. Total enemy strength in the area is estimated to be from 150-250 armored vehicles, and 50-100 AAA, SAM, artillery, and support vehicles. Air defenses: Patriot, Hawk, Roland, Stinger (Avenger, Linebacker and MANPAD), SA-9, SA-13, AAA, small arms Air threats: F-15C, F-16C, AH-64D, AH-1W, A-10A Air threats SHOULD be neutralized by our air defenses early; later, once enemy air defenses have been disabled, our fighter aircraft will assist in maintaining air superiority. However, the possibility of encountering enemy air threats remains. Enemy airbases: F-15Cs, F-16Cs, A-10As are operating out of Batumi. Enemy helicopters have been detected from time to time over the battlefield, mostly near Senaki. Our low altitude SAM coverage mostly keeps them from operating near Zugdidi. An enemy FARP remains unaccounted for, and needs to be disabled/destroyed if found. CAS Aircraft# 51 through 58 (Sorties 1 through 8) Task: Support friendly ground forces Loadout: 12xVikhrs 10xS-13 rockets Cannon 50% fuel Details: Between 30 and 60 armored vehicles, believed to be of the US army, have been detected approaching from the south. Frontal aviation will attempt to eliminate these attackers before they take Zugdidi, and if Zugdidi falls, will attempt eliminate all the occupying enemy forces. Once these attackers have been dealt with, our ground forces will wait till we have eliminated the long range radar guided SAMs and achieved air superiority over the battlefield, and then begin a frontal attack on enemy postions. Our army commanders want fixed-wing support overhead as well as rotary-wing assets before they feel confident enough to proceed with the attack. Warning! Until the two Hawk sites and Patriot site have been dealt with, the maximum safe altitude in the Zugdidi area is between 500 and 600 meters. A large hill to the south blocks low altitude LOS for the Patriot and Hawk sites over the Zugdidi area. GROUND ATTACK Aircraft# 59 and 60 (Sorties 9 and 10) Task: Attack enemy reserve forces Loadout: 12xVikhrs 10xS-13 rockets Cannon 100% fuel Details: The enemy is sure to try to launch a counter offensive some time after we advance. To delay this as much as possible, it is necessary to strike enemy armor units that are being held in reserve in the rear. This attack should be attempted towards the late stages of this mission after a significant portion of the enemy air defenses (including all Hawk and Patriot) have been eliminated. GROUND ATTACK/SEAD STRIKE Aircraft# 61 and 62 Task: Disable PATRIOT SAM site and destroy targets of opportunity in the rear Loadout: 12xVikhrs 10xS-13 rockets Cannon 100% fuel Details: The long range of the Patriot SAM is preventing our fixed-wing SEAD aircraft from getting close enough to it or the Hawk sites to destroy them with ARMs. The only way to take out the Patriot is a NOE approach using rotary-wing frontal aviation assets. Intel has identified a low altitude route that can be used to approach the Patriot control radar safely. In addition, a critical flaw in the enemy’s defense has been found: no short range defenses protecting the Patriot have been identified. The route to the Patriot control radar has been marked precisely in ABRIS with waypoints. Aircraft must follow these waypoints exactly or face additional risk of getting shot down. NOTE: Command has also asked us to destroy any enemy targets of opportunity along the route we are using. There is evidence of an enemy FARP somewhere behind enemy lines, and if found, it must be disabled. We cannot allow our tanks to be destroyed by AH-64s! EDIT: Added updated mission attachements. v1.1b is recommended over v1.1a unless everyone is running the fastest i7 processors and very good graphics cards. I find it a little irritating how often different states and development programs are accused of copying. I'm sure a certain amount of industrial espionage goes on but if two parties are working on the same problem ( I.E. stealth multi-role fights, or space shuttle ) then the results are bound to be similar.1 point

I do the sme thing. but you can also land comming straight in. If you have Tir or FT this will work for you. Just sit slightly higher in your seet loonik over the nose keep the fare edge of the landing pad just above the nose. You shuld only see the back edge and corners of the pad. this will bring you all the way into the middle of the pad. It takes alot of pratic to get it right. :pilotfly:  I like the PIC LOL1 point
-
I get to a stable hover about 10m above the ground just off and 45 degrees (as the above posters said) to the side of the pad and nose forward slowly and slightly to the side. It helps to be as low as possible when close to the FARP so you can see it, but approach from the side with no buildings/vehicles! As soon as you touch down, even if it is a bit bumpy, kill (re-centre) all the trim to avoid falling over!1 point
-
What Frazer said. I usually land with a left slide of up to 45 degrees because the left door window is large. Don't forget to trim and start slowing down in time.1 point

Right when the main character arrives at the base on Pandora, he goes into some sort of command center. There are about a dozen people in chairs with screens and X-52s in front of them... I'm not sure exactly what they are doing with them, I assume they are pilotindrones with them. As for why Hollywood uses then, I think it's because they look futuristic and have "pretty" lights, which most commonfolk love. Even though I own a X-52, I prefer a regular black stick like my old CH fighterstick... but I lost track of that thing years ago... my flying funds wouldn't allow for much more than a X-52 on sale. :)1 point

Thanks for feedback. Did you fly 2nd and 3rd already? Actually, we're thinking about adding the subtitles, because it will take not too much of our time (despite we always feel short of it :P). Could anyone of native English speakers let us know his opinion. We had responses only from non-native speakers so far... :smilewink:1 point

It's not just simulating the helicopter - it's simulating the environment it's meant to be operated in. We are already bordering on a 'switch flicking' simulator, as opposed to an actual fighting vehicle in a human-filled, dynamic world. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - if you want a -D model Apache, go and read Ed Macy's 'Apache', then ask yourself: Could the DCS world support what the helo's did in that book? Not just systems-wise, but how they interacted with each other (CPG to Pilot, Helo to other helo's, helo to ground, helo to other airbourne forces)? Not yet.....when you increase complexity and comms abilities of the platform simulated (and the -D is a mobile network point), you increase what must be simulated enormously.1 point

Lucas, Gigz-on - Thanks for that. I'd guessed that probably it was kinda random. Maybe one day I'll sign up for a night class and try to learn Russian. Heard the "Nagging Nadia" warnings from Lockon so many times now that I mostly know what they are. "Yes I know the left engine is on fire. Just shut up woman!"1 point

May I suggest to you the MiG-29S skins by Mizzy. Replaces the stock skins. They are tad bit more colourful and I perfer them to the stock skins. Mizzy did an excellent job with these.1 point

A fun evening. Was nice to meet you guys at last and have a blast! I learned more this evening by flying along than in the last 3 weeks reading manuals (data overload). Still haven't fired a shot in anger, though - I missed that damn master arm switch - d'oh! :music_whistling: Took some happy snaps- I've not set up the AA/AF yet, so a bit jaggy: Looking forward to next week's meet - I'll be getting in lotsa practice in the meantime. Да, Андрей. В основном в "ОВ" так и будет, за некоторыми исключениями, которые будут размывать некоторую "пресность", или демонстрировать исключительность ситуации.1 point

So this evening i finally finished the pit! Or at least this version of it. :D New panel on the right and the two new panels between the main screen. My cyclic is weight balanced so itstays where i put it - thats why it looks a little off balance. My new unnunciator panel, illumatates as i go through the startup sequence. Images shows the innunciator panel. This panel also has the counter measures functions included. The panel for instraments and the datalink panel are to the left. The almost finished pit, its generic in nature but still has every function of the blackshark. I just need to sort out back lighting for the other panels and we are all done! A big thanks goes to my wife - who not only puts up with my hobby, but even paid for over a hundred toggles and buttons and bought me 2 of leos boards for my christmas. Guys if you EVER need advice then take this - Buy your wife her own computer - and then World of Warcraft - sometimes i dont see her for days!1 point

+1 I don't claim to be any sort of expert in the Shark, but I'm always happy to pass on what I do know to anyone. Hope to see you all again on Sunday, if not earlier in the weekend.1 point
