:D:D:D3 points

I will comment on SU-27 systems, since I did not study others. The 27 does have on board batteries and it is capable of spooling up without an external power source. The maximum number of spool ups available on batteries is three, after wards batteries have to be serviced/recharged. It uses an auxiliary turbocharger to begin spooling the engines. Referred to as "TurboStarter" in Russian terminology. It operates for ~50 seconds after which the engine that is spooling should be roughly at 54% rpm. It is possible to spool both engines simultaneously. EDIT: As far as electricity, the 27 uses both AC and DC. AC nominal readings: 115-120v, DC nominal readings: 27-29v.2 points

Great... a SUV drives up to you, with guys shooting AK47's and then you get gunbutted in the head, tortured for 4 weeks by guys wanting to know what they could easily obtain from a Janes manual or the internet, and then released. Sounds awesome. I'd just press the re-fly button.2 points

Hi everyone! My teammate, 59th_Krieger is working on new MiG-29 models (with my contribution:D). It's an early view of this project. We'll update this thread (with screens and infos), when we've some news. At now the MiG-29A model looks like this:1 point

hi all you now when motors go down what you must do '' To prevent RPM decay, the pilot must promptly lower the collective pitch control to reduce drag and incline the total aerodynamic force vector forward so it is near the axis of rotation. Remember in some helicopters you can go from normal operating rotor RPM to an unrecoverable blade stall condition in Under 10 Seconds.'' Why in DCS BS this is not correct ??? question is : 1.what happen when in autorotation RPM go below minimum unrecoverable RPM ? 2.is rotor stop running to zero and we continue to fall like brick or rotor still have some RPM but still fall like brick ? if has why me can't recover RPM to ''safe'' RPM? 3.i ask this questions because in DCS Black Shark you can always recover RPM in autorotaion. even i try some test and i realize DCS dont do job right in this simulation or i get wrong and i apologize in beginning :( -i try vertical autorotation with collective all way UP from 1000m altitude and in this situation helicopter continue autorotation (RPM go to 40% of rotor and then stabilize on 50%) and vertical speed of decent was about 10-12 m/s and with landing gears down helicopter land only with damage of gear (i didnt touch no control at all :) in real life if i do this my RPM will go to zero or what ??? -another test was when i shot down motors collective was in middle position and helicopter continue in autorotaion with speed 100km/h and 60% rotor RPM. i didnt put down collective like in real situation all pilot WILL. and i use half way of collective to make clear land on runway :) this is very strange to me :( -third test i shot down motors and i put collective all way UP and helicopter get in autorotation and stabilize on 70km/h with 50% rotor RPM. i take down landing gear and dont touch anything then. helicopter still fly in this autorotaion with 10m/s vertical decent and make crash landing with small damage EVERY time :) again very strange to me :( -forth test was shot down motors and i put collective all way DOWN and helicopter get in autorotation and stabilize on 210km/h with 50% rotor RPM. i take down landing gear and dont touch anything then. helicopter still fly in this autorotaion with 16-18m/s vertical decent and make crash landing with small damage EVERY time but pilot always alive :) again i dont understand this ????? -so pilot is no needed to fly in autorotaion in DCS because helicopter always land alone with no problem and pilot go home alive ? if someone touch commands heli crash :) I love DCS BS but i need to see real FM model and behavior of helicopter and when i try some test in this SIMULATOR to make the same test in real life. For all this years only YOU made the first GOOD helicopter simulator! All other just try in this. For this i hope all who now helicopters aerodynamic , all REAL and VIRTUAL pilots and ED DCS will answer we on this question because i and all others pilots really need answer on this. It is possible or just bag in game or bad programing and what will happen in real life if i do all this? THNKS for making my life better . . .1 point

As a mechanic, I'm very curious bout the intricacies of Russian aircraft. How those all it come together? How do they work? Most people won't be interested on this but, I figure, it would not hurt to ask. See, most people would like to fly a MIG-29 for an hour, I just want to take it apart and put it together while drinking some beers with buddies. Most people want to know how fast it goes, I want to know how difficult is to replace the engine. Ok anyway, some of the things I was wondering about; I always see Russian aircraft with ground power applied before engine start; What is the external power used for? DCS BS shows that external ground power is not needed for start, are the fix wing aircraft the same way? What power do they use, DC, AC or both? I ask because newer US aircraft do not use or required any external equipment to start. F-15, F-16, A-10, F-117, F-18. All this aircraft can start engine without and external source of power or air. The F-4 in contrast, requires external air source to spin the engines for start. Many old aircraft needed this. Do Russian aircraft have batteries? F-15 does not have a batteries but F-16 and F-117 do. I keep reading and hearing how Russian aircraft are able to operate from unprepared fields, how unprepared are we talking about? Just find it hard to comprehend a 40,000 lbs aircraft not getting stuck while trying to taxi on pack earth. I get the cargo aircraft, many wheel so weight is spread to more areas, but only 3 wheels, like on most attack or fighter aircraft do not seem to be the best suited for rough field operations. Can they taxi or land while fully loaded on a unprepared field? If not, what are the limitations? SU-25 In FC and FC2, it seems left engine airframe mounted gear box will power flight controls while right will power landing gear hydraulically. How close to the real this is this? I thinks this is crazy if it is at all close to the real deal. F-16 has 3 hydraulic pumps. F-117 had more than 4. On the F-15 and F-117, ether engine could pressurize both hydraulic systems. You would obviously have less gallons per minute (GPM) but you would have require pressure and more than enough GPM . Do Russian aircraft have accessory drive gear boxes or airframe mounted gear boxes? For us this is where the generators and Hydraulic pumps are mounted. I doubt I will get any responses, after all is not as interesting as flying this great machines. I guess I will see, fingers cross :geek: I bet this has been ask before, I should start searching :suspect::ermm:1 point

In my opinion Russians been batter enginers while Americans been better programmers.. Good example is Mig-25/Mig-31 compere to Blackbird. I think that says it all.1 point

Ok, so I know I'm probably one of the most detested and hated people on these forums, but maybe some people will find these useful? So, I was bored one day, and instead of working of stuff that I really should have been working on for school, I decided instead to make these up incase they helped anyone out with sketchup models designing cockpits. Using these dimensions, I made, in about a day, near perfect models of the cougar MFD in sketchup. Here are some pics. Sorry, no stand or glass or anything fancy like that as those dimensions were not available to me and I do not actually own these (Though if someone would like to give me a cougar MFD pack or make a monetary donation, it would be greatly appreciated!:D) Ok, one thing I should note. Going along with their whole "F-16 replica" thing, Thrustmaster had the most brilliant idea of making these MFDs with a screen size of about 11cm by 11cm (or about 4.25in by 4.25in) which, IMO, was a rather stupid move on their part. Nearly all other American military aircraft with similar 20-button displays are 5in by 5in, including the F-15C, F/A-18 and (*Gasp!*) the A-10C! But I guess everyone just has such a hard-on for the F-16, that it's justified? I don't know, but I would have perfered nice 5in displays to go along with their A-10C HOTAS. But I digress... So, If you want this in the cockpit you're building or designing in sketchup, please feel free to use it, assuming you don't think it's tainted by my making it (Sorry). It's available in the Google 3D warehouse. Will I be making any of these in the future? Probably not, as I'm really actually not that great with any sort of 3D modeling. Enjoy Aero1 point

So how does the F-15 start if it has no batteries, and no external power? o.O btw, MiG-29 electric systems so, you have the option of startup on internal power, but external power is preffered1 point

Well take it this way. Without russian planes in next DCS modules DACT will be much poorer. I would hate to fly against the same block all the time. Its lots of fun to give a dose of reality to the mig die hards. :D ;)1 point

The Mig-25/31 could only sustain a speed of Mach 2.8 for a few minutes due to engine overheat while the Blackbird cruised at Mach 3.2 and an altitude of 80-85,000 feet (I believe this is above the operational ceiling of the R-33). So I'm sure that the Mig-25/31 could not effectively interrcept the SR-71. P.S. I expect GG to come in with a chart of the R-33's performance data in 3....2....1....1 point

More specifically I can tell you the way it is supposed to operate: You turn the jammer on (i.e. supply power) and turn the defense system on (it integrates your jammer with the RWR). When your RWR receives a signal that indicates STT against your aircraft, it will signal the jammer to attempt to jam that threat.1 point

:D haha Yeah maybe my way to express something is a little but rough and not common, but that's how my brain works. :) We don't decide for all people, we just have a fairness way of thinking how all this could be more equal. Why wishing a DCS F-16 while there is Open Falcon 4.7 and (hopefully) soon the new BMS? It's a bit of a waist... Ok :pilotfly:1 point

No, I disappoint you. I can't answer on your questions, but I must say i am interested about it too... especially how solid are planes in nasty airfields. Example, how that infect of plane's entrails, how can it speed up plane elements change to new ones. Hope people answer on your questions, are interesting.1 point

K im marking your words on my little notepad here. :P Ya know though, while I may not entirely agree with microsofts decision regarding aces studio, and what they have decided to do with the flight simulator series....... In light of the events of September 11th, and the fact that the cowardly racial slurs had been using microsoft flight simulator as a tool to practice and plan their cowardly attack. Can you really blame Microsoft for re-evaluating the future of the franchise?... As I said, I may not agree with the decision, but I can certainly understand, and respect their decision to take the series in a new direction. Personally I think it will be great for the genre. A heavy hitter coming back into the ring, can only serve to help reinvigorate the flight sim market. Obviously their intention will be to capture the experience and feeling of flight, igniting the imaginations of people young and old that so choose to play it, and for those that enjoy it, they will certainly find themselves on the flight sim road, searching out other sims, and thus fueling the market. Im keeping an open mind, and hopeful that "microsoft" or whoever is developing it, delivers something beautiful, if not entirely technically accurate. It may not be "HARDCORE" but who knows, it may just be FUN. :)1 point

Нет. Симулятор (имитатор, тренажер) позволяет делать все как раз ближе к реальности нежели "экшн" или аркада, только без плачевных последствий для играющего (обучаемого).1 point

damn thats awesome dude. I know ill become a USAF pilot, im gonna haul ass in college to get a pilot slot. My dream is to fly a viper or F-35 or A-10C, those are my three favorites, but i would be the happiest man on earth flying ANYTHING for the USAF. Oh add strike eagle to that list, that thing is kick ass. Every time I go to the airshow and hear how loud and powerful these things are, its almost surreal. The sound these aircraft make is unimaginably loud, no video can do the this ground-rumbling engine justice. If I make it as a pilot, i will look around and say to myself "just like trackir!"1 point

Hi, some updates from new stabilizer (taileron), and for the fully effect dropped the 2th engines (its not finished: missing object, position's angels and animations helpers). When i will create the stabilizer's hydraulic tube, connection elements, and cables (2 pieces) i'll shot new pic. Regards, Krieger1 point

Gremlins. Worst case scenario. Once it works, other it doesn't :( Best practice is to choose few models and google it together with word "problems". Every model have or had some. Say, P5Q had problems with memory modules. BIOS revisions corrected it. With P5LD2 my SATA HDD wouldn't be recognized if I overclocked above certain FSB. You'll never know. For Asus, you can go to their support site. Forums are uncensored and you can get a clue if problems are solvable or not for you. Check SATA cable for loose connection or even better change it. You should get at least 2 with MoBo. BTW 775 is socket.1 point

90$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131232 This should be pretty much plug and play if your using Windows Vista/7. 60$ If you only use one PCIe 2.0 slot and 2 DIMM slots, then you may want to consider and Micro ATX board. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131399 Again plug and play. Remeber this only has 2 ram slots. 8gb max(2x4) If your willing to look elsewhere than ASUS. I have 2 friends whose 775 EVGA board board died. One about 3 months ago. The other a year ago. They both had hard drive issues. My neighbor has a 775 board for about 3 years running as a media server with two 1TB drives. It sits in a hot closet behind his TV with a pile of clothes on it. I'm positive he bought the cheapest POS motherboard he could find. I don't know what brand it is. So the 775 chipset is not in question in my mind. Good luck finding a Mobo. PS. If you consider one of the Mobo is listed. Search the web for a better deal. I used Newegg as a reference. Maybe you can find a better deal.1 point

Hi all, Here is my initial version of renowned cockpit maps on pilot knees. Its not finished yet, and currently US version is basically the same as Russian, just renamed. For testing purposes, I plan to add few more items soon. Features: - Basic layout of the FC2 area - Airport numbers as programmed in autopilot - Runway directions, where first number is primary direction - List of airports in numerical order - Basic info on course and distance for Mineralniye Vody and Nalchik, in blue, distance in km, value in the middle Files: - PILOT-RUS-G01.tga - PILOT-USA-G01.tga (same as above, do not use if you do not need it) Installation: - Not ModMan compatible yet - Copy/paste above two files to FC2 directory: HDD:\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Bazar\TempTextures\ Download: - Attached to this post cockpit_maps0-1.rar1 point
