__________________2 points

Who else thinks this is probably one of the greatest additions? It was mentioned before on twitter for 1.1.0.8...iirc. Will save so much time and effort writing everything down, printing, phone app, etc etc. Can't wait to review briefing while on the fly (literally) this is suppose to be a nice way of saying....when you think 1.1.0.8 will be realeased? :D :D1 point

The standard barometric pressure (at least in civilian aviation) is 29.92 at sea level. The altimeter is set to 29.92 by default for that reason most likely. Very carefully I'd imagine. Ah come on, beaten by hassata :(1 point

Had a very long and detailed reply typed up... and ED forums decided to log me out so I lost everything I had written... (Trying to start over... Argh)! Bumfire, I had a nerve pinched in my arm before and my ring finger and pinky went numb for several months. I had my chiropractor do NIR light therapy as well as regular adjustments to my elbow where the nerve that was causing my fingers to go numb is. This was inexpensive and not intrusive at all, only annoying that I had no sensitivity in two fingers for months. I didn't stop me from flying in my normal job, nor online... however... The reason it happened was because my elbow had been resting on the side of (not on top of) the armrest for hours upon hours of flying for weeks and months. This caused the nerve to get pinched in my elbow and my fingers to go numb. It took me about 3 months to get my sensation back in my fingers, and my doctor (chiropractor) said the same thing: "Lay off the flying for a while". Well: 1) it's my job, and; 2) it wasn't going to happen online either as we had one of the biggest aerobatic shows coming up at the time. So, I went back to the root of the problem... Seating position and ergonomics! ***EVERYONE WITH THEIR THROTTLE AND STICK ON A DESK SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING*** Can't stress this enough, but anyone flying with their HOTAS on a desk is just setting themselves up for health issues. You don't need a pit either, and this is my point... I have my throttle on a pair of cinder blocks positioned closely to my body on the left side of my seat bottom cushion. The height is exactly 16 inches off the floor, add another 1 3/4 inch for the throttle base and it sits just under 17 3/4 inches above the floor. My seat bottom on my chair is exactly 17 inches off the floor. This is important! It lets me rest my hand on the throttle where it would naturally want to be even if the throttle wasn't there. Final step: make sure there's no armrest interferring with your elbow. If there's an armrest your arm should rest on top of it, not push against the side of it or at a weird angle. This is why the cinder blocks and throttle are aligned right next to the seat so my arm doesn't stretch out or angle away from my body. It should be a very natural posture while sitting. Now, onto the stick handle... I simply place it between my legs, on the seat bottom itself. The base plate of the HOTAS Warthog sticks out about 1/5 of its length at the front of the seat (but it's also angled). I angle the stick with the natural angle my forearm has when I keep my upper arm parallel to my body and then angle my forearm as if I was grabbing hold of my... [:music_whistling:]. This angle is the same alignment (or twist) you'll want your stick handle to have (as mentioned earlier). It lets you rest (i.e. RELAX) your right forearm on your thigh while flying. With your upper arm parallel to your upper body (down the side), and your forearm aligned with the handle.. you should position the the stick itself right in front of your "Randy Johnson". You'll be all set with a feather light touch on the controls, and very comfortable flying! (It may even make you a better stick). How far out your base plate on the HOTAS Warthog will stick out depends on how big you are, but in general I leave just enough room so I can pull the stick all the way back to its stop without hitting the "jewels" or causing my wrist to have an un-natural angle with the stick pulled all the way back. I've said this before, but seating position is THE single most important thing for precise and comfortable flying. Anyone using a throttle and stick on top of a desk is commiting what I like to call "HOTAS abuse". Even half the people who place their HOTAS' to the sides of their chairs are doing it in the worst possible and non-ergonomic ways (requiring them to stretch their arms out and away from their bodies). Everyone really should pay attention to this, because I've been there, had health issues with it... (almost developed carpel tunnel once too from my force sensor stick at one time, but that's another story). I never stopped flying though, in real life nor in the sim! The answer is: Take care of the problem at hand. First and foremost, see a doctor/chiropractor for some treatment. Secondly, fix your setup!!!!!!!!! It doesn't require a pit, and hardly any money to have a good seating position with ergonomic placement of the flight controls. Just be smart about it! Seat height, lateral displacement, fore/aft positioning etc. of the controls... it all makes a huge difference in not only control, but you won't get fatigued and as in your case (and mine, thanks to a poorly placed armrest) substancially reduce the risk for health issues. Your condition will get better, but in the meantime tackle the problem at hand!:joystick:1 point

Best intentions and all but those that were going to go this week didn't.. Good news is that they are all done and everybody that has ordered (except one who ordered a couple days ago) will have one in the post tomorrow along with your tracking numbers emailed. One thing. It would be good to get feedback from people who have them about how well they are staying on the base. The design - and the only simple one is that it screws on and when you have screwed it the full amount you tighten it a little. I guess there is the possibility that while playing you end up twisting the stick and have it come undone. With all the ones I have been making, I havent got around to using one for myself so I dont know! One change in design and existing people can do it is to get some thin rubber, 1-2mm and make a washer to go inside the bottom adaptor. It will act like a spring washer and resist twisting of the stick. Anyway, I dont know if it is a problem for anyone but I may see if I can add them to future ones.1 point

Or... just one Golden Ticket- you get to nominate the next DCS module. :thumbup:1 point

Not a pilot, I'm a crew chief/flight engineer. Or I guess you could call me a door gunner since I sit in a door and I have a gun, but my day job is a mechanic and at night I go flying.1 point

10 copies will have, inside the metal case signed by the development team, a Willy Wonka-style Golden Ticket. Owners of that ticket will get free copies of all future DCS releases for the next five years, and will be recreated as virtual pilots in DCS itself.1 point

...and for a reasonable price! With these add-ons I guess 200 EUR for the special edition is reasonable and make it 1.000 EUR for the limited edition with the helmet...:megalol: By the way: Helmets are for sale here: http://www.customflighthelmets.com/helmets.htm I will buy a boxed copy, if it does not install steam/root-kit crap on my PC...was a no-go for Cliffs of Dover already.1 point

One can actually. It's some 3-minutes of engine off time at a friendly-coalition base will get you repaired. Works in SP or MP. I just tried it after getting shot up by a BTR-80 and it's there. I'm not sure if a CADC failure for example would count as damaged to initiate the repair process but I hope so. Circuit breakers are at least partially functional if not fully. I know if you pull the C/B for the DC fuel pump you won't get the APU to start (assuming the AC fuel pumps are off). There are some others that people have found uses for as well. The best explanations for most of that electrical, bleed air, and hydraulic stuff comes from the A-10A-1 manual (Page 1-22 for circuit breakers). Most if not all of it applies directly to the C 3.2. Any text in red on Flight Manual pages 654-656 denotes a circuit breaker. By my estimate there are less than 50 failure modes total in WH, possibly a lot less. CAP lights will never burn out. The gear handle downlock will never need overriding. The APU hydraulic pump will never overheat because the APU is run too long with the generator off. It's not surprising since it's a lot of coding work to make thing function normally without getting too into how they function under failure.1 point

Can you adjust the boresight? Yes, there in fact two adjustments that can be made and they are quite different. It is easy to confuse the two since the term "boresight" is used in both adjustments. Boresight Symbol to Maverick Line of Sight The first is a boresight adjust which calibrates the wagon wheel to where the Maverick is actually pointing. These are very tiny adjustments because misalignment between where the Maverick says it is pointing and where it is actually pointing is at worst only slightly off. The process is to lock up a visible object (usually in sensor mode for safety), turn MAV ADJ mode ON with MAV page OSB 7, and then move the wagon wheel while looking through the HUD so that it is directly over the object. Each tap of DMS only moves the wagon wheel about a width of an line on the HUD. When satisfied with your sensor calibration hit UFC ENTER. Set Default Boresight Location The second adjustment is far more interesting and useful. The standard "home" position (standard default boresight location) of the Maverick is centered laterally and at 150 mils depression. This adjustment changes the default boresight location. If a slewed Maverick is reset with China Aft Short it will return to this new default boresight location. China Aft Short once in the default boresight location steps to the next missile in priority. In sensor mode, lock up (centroid or force correlate, your choice) any object. Then move the Boat Switch Center (if already Center because you were in F/C, simply move Boat Switch Fwd or Aft and then back to Center). The words "SEEKER BORESIGHT" are displayed in green letters on no background will appear to show the system is ready to change the default boresight location. Press TMS Fwd Short to accept the new default boresight location. The words "SEEKER BORESIGHT" will be displayed on a black background to show that the new default boresight location has been saved. --- You can do a similar process with the AIM9 ADJ option for the AIM-9. With Master Arm Safe, select AIM9 ADJ ON from the DSMS MSL page and move the AIM9 reticule with the Slew Hat. Confirm the change by selecting AIM9 ADJ OFF. This can change the size of the circular scan pattern as well. --- As for the second question: Yes, as long as the Maverick is locked and within the DLZ you can fire the Maverick on the very edge of the seeker gimbal limits. There is no requirement to be pointed nearly directly at the target.1 point

Last I checked flag 'false' waypoints conditions don't actually work, you need to use flag 'true'. Edit: more to the point, the GUI won't let you specify that the flag must be 'false'. What I would normally do for this scenario is to add the radio trigger as Dragon said (which will cause Flag 1 to be set when the player activates that radio option), and set the SEAD flight as follows: Assuming you want it to orbit between WP1 and WP2, add a 'perform task -> orbit' to WP1, make sure it's set to Racetrack and an appropriate speed. The flight will then orbit between those two waypoints forever. Then, select the "STOP CONDITION" button to bring up that dialog, and tick the "Flag" and make sure it's set to 1: i.e. stop when flag 1 is true. That way, the 'orbit' command will continue until the player activates the radio item, and then they'll start processing any following commands at that waypoint, and fly onwards to waypoint 2. Make sure you set ROE to 'return fire' or 'hold fire' on their first waypoint. You can then set it back to 'open fire' after the orbit task. I have a similar set-up in the mission attached to this thread if you'd like to look at an example.1 point

Well I can't really comment on specific card models (I got a GTX 460 and am happy with it) but my suggestion and personal opinion would be: Don't buy Ati. It's as simple as that.1 point

Lots of interesting content in this thread... </me channels inner 4th grade student>Jeez headspace, if you like the more simple flight sims so much, why don't you marry it? Sorry every time I hear "my sim is better than yours" I always flashback to the 4th grade. It is just that childish to me. -_- @Training Discussion: I think it was a step up from what was in BS, but its not quite where it needs to be. Training is difficult to implement into flight sims because there is such an intense need for educational/classroom learning that is required before practical application. Furthermore there is no "rewind" or "try again" capability. Within both DCS titles we have seen a heavy influence of non critical information into the practical applications. Essentially all DCS training has been "in flight lecture" followed by "here is a basic instruction on how to use it." I think that is where things start to become overwhelming for new or experienced simmers. Even seperating the training into 1. Information and 2. Practical would be helpful. @Community Interaction: Community awards like what Bohemia Interactive does would be awesome. I guess there is nothing stopping anyone from making their own awards for the community, but if it were ED sponsored that would be pretty neat. During the beta, I was kinda hoping ED might take the best user made content and "officially" make it part of the sim. Maybe thats just me hanging around Valve games to much, but hey, its quite an incentive to create quality content.1 point
