  1. I tried to include as many mods as possible to give an overview what Lock On: FC2 is in my opinion. You can see wild and relaxed flying in all sorts of aircrafts, a fast-paced battle and at last some emotional scenes. Enjoy Download link 1: http://rjt1.fatcow.com/slamraam/FC2_Tribute_Video.zip Download link 2: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A8CEYR90 Videofile is .mp4 Filesize ~507mb

  2. Please help me in my quest to include support for more types of Head Tracking Software within the DCS/Lockon series. The Background -------------------- With the Lockon/DCS series, the only head tracking interface that is supported is NaturalPoints TrackIR. To use a different system; FreeTrack or FaceTracknoIR for example, an exploit must be applied to one of the dll files that is packaged with the flight simulator. As well as being illegal, it will also not work with 64 bit versions of windows, which in turn means that you have to run your games in 32 bit mode. So, why do Eagle Dynamics only support TrackIR? Well, they did start developing an interface to allow alternative head tracking systems but they were asked to stop by NaturalPoint. It has not been confirmed but it is believed that Eagle Dynamics were told if they included any other system, then they were not allowed to include TrackIR. Possible Solutions ---------------------- These unfortunately are few and far between. There is an option to use ppjoy, but myself and many others can not get it to work, it is quite a complicated setup, mainly caused by the unsigned drivers. To sign the drivers would cost a lot of money. By far the best and easiest way would be if Eagle Dynamics changed their decision and included another protocol. There are methods that are very easy to implement and would not require any code or software developed by NaturalPoint. Why would Eagle Dynamics do that? ------------------------------- If NaturalPoint wanted to stop people from exploiting their software, then they have failed. By stopping other head tracking interfaces from competing, FreeTrack (and others) have been forced to exploit the TrackIR's files. Eagle Dynamics would actually be helping to stop the exploitation of the TrackIR software. Another reason would be the numbers of people using the other available head tracking systems, these are very rough figures but so far the number of downloads are: FreeTrack - 50,000 + FaceTracknoIR 20,000 + I do not have figures on other systems but they still show 70,000 downloads combined. Yes, some may have download several times but even when taken into consideration it is still an amazing figure that can not be ignored by Eagle Dynamics. This would also open up many other possibilieies So what can we do? ------------------------- Well, this situation has existed before. A game called ArmA which was produced by Bohemia Interactive went through exactly the same thing. The community got together and started an online petition. After 900+ signatures, Bohemia Interactive changed their stance and included a FreeTrack interface in one of their following updates. So it can be done! On other matters, Eagle Dynamics are absolutely brilliant. Unlike most developers, they listen to what their end users want from their software and implement most of it very quickly indeed. As far as I am concerned, for a company of their size, I think their support is second to none. It is because of this, I believe they will listen to us if we make our voices heard. In an attempt to persuade Eagle Dynamics I have started an online petition as well. It is quickly gaining popularity. I hope with your support that we can exceed the 900 signatures received for ArmA and get into the thousands. It takes very little time, costs you nothing, your email address remains hidden (unless you specify otherwise) and this might just work. The Petition can be found here: http://www.petitiononline.com/Tracking/petition.html I look forward to your support and hope we can make a difference.

  3. Finally received my first Air Medal just a few moments ago! It was just a quick mission on easy, and most of the targets were taken out by friendlies, BUT I was able to utilize general purpose bombs, LGB's, Mavericks, and the GAU-8 to bag myself 5 kills. I also managed to execute one of my best landings. All the hog was missing when I returned her is weight from fuel/munitions! This is a great day in my virtual fighting career :pilotfly: (I know I'm a newb lol, I just had to brag.)

  7. Quite right, along with EtherealN. People have no clue what hardcore is. It has nothing to do with the presence of buttons and switches that do "stuff" in the cockpit. It has MORE to do with how the virtual pilot(s) conduct their flight. Gentlemen, the name of the "game" is Air Combat. Anything that furthers the goal of simulating Air Combat - within the sim, and how we fly and fight with our simulated aircraft, with our simulated wingmen, determines whether the goal of simulating a fighter pilot's day is realized. I already have pushed enough buttons and flicked enough switches IRL. What I want to do is get in the jet, and get in the air with my flight and use Real World tactics to accomplish the mission. I don't have to start the engines in a realistic manner while worrying about no/false/hung/hot starts, check my flight controls with the crew chief, taxi by the IFF testing gear, go to the arm/dearm pit, have my pins removed, and then takeoff, point my radar elsewhere while worrying about interfering with my wingmen's radar checks.... What I'd like is a nice simulation of MODERN AIR COMBAT PERIOD. I don't care about ON, NORMAL, NORMAL, good blinker, because I'm not wearing a helmet (unlike some of you guys :megalol:) with your O2 masks on tight.... Some of you guys want all of the above... well, that's nice... but it gets real old real quick. (oh, not for me! I love all the minutae, some might say. Well good on you.) FC3 interacting with the DCS world can be as real as it gets, so long as improvements are made that help FC2 model Real World capabilities and limitations of weapons, radars, ECM, ECCM (if able), and tactics. It's up to the mission designers, squadrons, etc. to come up with realistic scenarios that model what so-called "Hardcore" simmers want out of a MODERN AIR COMBAT simulation.

  9. Hi, We took a step for F-16C in Lock On world. We made cockpit model (%90) but cockpit's textures're at %30 and F-16C model is at %90(no skin but unwraped).. we researched to make a good cockpit but we couldnt solve some problems as HUD, MFD, TEWS...:( we breaked project since 7 months.. So if we can solve these problems or ED helps us, we will make F-16C.. F-16C 3D Model: Yeniçeri F-16C 3D Cockpit Model: 141st_Alper F-16C 3D Cockpit Textures: 141st_c@sper And special thanks to: 141st_Kaplan, 141st_Eko1 Some pictures of project ANKA::pilotfly:

  10. Mission link: http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=54063&d=1311347525 I'm finally releasing a mission I've been working on for quite a while. Primary features: Parallel tasking system: Tasks are added to a list that can be viewed and queried any time the player needs it. Coordinates for moving ground forces are updated and and current. Dynamic battlefield: not only are enemy forces attacking and moving, but friendly forces will retreat and regroup if certain conditions are met. If even more losses are taken, friendly forces will go into full retreat! The battlefield is not just dynamic on the ground. Listen to AWACs on 130 MHz to keep appraised of the enemy air situation. While you have friendly F-15Es overhead (Mudhen model so they will appear on your TAD), they can be overwhelmed or distracted. Watch your TAD! Listen to AWACs! Furthermore, friendly aircraft will share SPI on enemy fighters they are engaging. You'd better pay attention! Automatic CAS calls for help: When friendly forces spot enemy armor and start engaging, they will call for CAS and provide the actual, real-time, coordinates of the enemies they see. Automatic artillery engagement: Both friendly and enemy artillery will automatically select and engage targets, even leading moving targets. No longer is DCS artillery useless on a dynamic battlefield! "Radio" chatter: through use of Audacity and a MATLAB-based sound editor that I created, I've made some reasonably realistic-sounding radio messages, though some of the voice acting/voice cadence could still be improved. Maybe in a future version! BE ADVISED: This mission does not work just off-the-shelf with servman. That will come in the second version of this mission. However, it will still work with servman after a small mod to your servman_server.lua file. If anyone out there wants to run this mission with servman, send me a PM and I will send you the necessary file that makes this mission compatible with servman. Nominally, I intend this to be a night mission, but I am including a day mission version too. Briefing: **To get a list of the current tasks, say "SHOW TASK LIST" (with no quotes).** The first tasks will be added between between 17 and 20 minutes after mission start. **To get an update on a specific task, say "TASK # GET UPDATE", where "#" is the task number from the task list.** Situation: JSTARS aircraft have detected a three-pronged Russian attack towards our defensive line at Kashuri. A armored battalion minus is all that stands in the way. Prevent Russian forces from taking Kashuri! Friendly armored battalion minus info: Battalion Commander Callsign: STEEL 6 Apache Company: 5X M1 Abrams 3X M2 Bradleys Company Commander Callsign: APACHE 6 Banshee Company: 6X M1 Abrams 4X M2 Bradleys Company Commander Callsign: BANSHEE 6 Comanche Company: 6X M1 Abrams 4X M2 Bradleys Company Commander Callsign: COMANCHE 6 These comanpies are deploying to these three points: Apache Company is setting up a hasty defense at point ALAMO. Banshee Company is setting up a hasty defense at point BASTION. Comanche Company is setting up a hasty defense at point CASTLE. If losses become to great, then STEEL 6 may order friendly forces to regroup at point FORTRESS, marked on your briefing images. Should we be overwhelmed, STEEL 6 may order a retreat to point GOLF, Gori. Execution: DARKSTAR will provide tasking and position of enemy units. HINT: If a task is "Very High Priority" that means you should do it ASAP. **To get a list of the current tasks, say "SHOW TASK LIST" (with no quotes).** The first tasks will be added between between 17 and 20 minutes after mission start. **To get an update on a specific task, say "TASK # GET UPDATE", where "#" is the task number from the task list.** Additonally, STEEL 6 may specifically ask for air support. F-15Cs are CAPing over the battlefield to intercept any Russian fighters, but BE PREPARED TO RETREAT TO SOUTH OF WAYPOINT 1 (GORI) SHOULD THEY BE OVERWHELMED! Monitor the situation on your TAD, AND TUNE YOUR VHF AM RADIO TO 130 MHz TO LISTEN TO AWACS!! Additionally, six F-16Cs will attempt to clear the battlefield of SAMs before you arrive. DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO CLEAR ALL SAMs, SO STAY ABOVE 23 THOUSAND FEET, FIND AND KILL ENEMY SAMS FIRST, OR LOB MAVERICKS FROM A DISTANCE. Two F-16Cs are currently scheduled to take off in 46 minutes with a load of Mavericks. They are ordered to kill whatever remains of enemy SAMs, before using their Mavericks against tanks. It will PROBABLY be safe to descend below 23 thousand feet after these aircraft finish with the target area, at around 1 hour after mission start. Finally, four F-16Cs loaded for air-to-air are on alert and ready to scramble should it become necessary. Comms: AWACS, DARKSTAR, on 130MHz VHF AM STEEL 6- Battalion commander, in charge of the ground war APACHE 6- Apache company commander Banshee 6- Banshee company commander Comanche 6- Comanche company commander Bullseye: Kashuri Homplate: Vasiani Armament: 6X AGM-65D 2X CBU-97 2X CBU-105 6X GBU-12 1X ALQ 65% fuel

  11. This is not a recruiting drive. We currently are at peak numbers. This is nothing other than a 'gift' to those members of the community who will get something out of them. Greetings fellow A-10C pilots. In the 74th, we have a training college. The college has three schools. Flight, Naviagtion and Engagement, in that order. Our Candidates start in the Flight School and make there way through the 6 lessons until their final assessment which is done online. Each Lesson is taught via a forum entry with pictures and text, custom made and specific to our own College. Prior to our candidates downloading a mission pack they are given the option of watching a video where the specific lesson in question has been completed. Until now, these videos were unlisted on youtube, but i have decided to open them due to the huge number of new pilots to the sim who just need a little bit of guidance and is their first time in the A-10C, or as is the case for some, new to flight sims fiull stop! To the majority of you (LO, FC 1.12, FC2), these videos will be of little use, they are very basic maneuvers that you could do with your eyes shut. I would ask you all to bear in mind that each 'video' is 'part' of a lesson, that is to say that the video makes more sense when watched after reading the lesson info in our college. Clearly, the college is only open to our candidates and this information is ommited. "ok, ok already, god you go on! how do i see these videos??" You may access these videos by going to youtube and searching for 'tigerpwrr' without the ''. When the videos are listed, click on the name, not the video title returned from the search. This will take you to our official Youtube Homepage as listed on the DCS Main Wiki or by going direct to the video listing here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Tigerpwrr#g/u Alternatively, they are accessible on our website in the A-10C videos and screenshots forum as a sticky. On behalf of all members of the 74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' - enjoy. We hope they are of some use to some of you. Regards 'T'

  16. Yes, this should be possible. For FC2/DCS the 51st has a stats page at http://www.51st.org/stats/ and the 104th at http://stallturn.com/104th. Most likely some work will be required to port FC2 stats to FC3 as the DCS:Hog logs are different from FC2 and DCS:BS. I developed the 51st stats and will certainly do my best to port our stats to FC3 quickly. Besides that, it should already be possible to create a stats page for DCS:Hog alone, even without FC3 as all the information should be available.

  17. Well, I haven't read through the last 167 pages, and I'd hate to bring up this old thought again, but it really would be great that whichever aircraft DCS:Fighter is, that they can make a 2 seat version. I would gladly sit in the backseat as a WSO or RIO, or even as a flight instructor. Also, I have quite a few friends that fly the A-10C, that would never fly a fighter... but they have mentioned that if it were a 2 seat, they'd enjoy sitting in the back working the systems and radars. I think it would be great also with TARS. Sure, flying in MP you have wingmen, but it would be great to sometimes have someone in the cockpit with you to keep an eye on things while you need to do something else real quick. If they could make a single seat and a tandem seat version of whichever they make, that would be awesome. (F-15C/D/E?, F-16C/D, F-18C/D or E/F)

  19. Here's what I mean by "hardcore": Simulating pilot workload. So max avionics/weaponeering functionality. I want my helmet fire. It is not about elitism, I dont think myself any better or worse than other simmers who would choose FC2 over A10C as their mount. I don't recall ever calling anyone derogatory names here as others have alluded to me.

  20. Today I came across a petition that has been setup to request DCS to kindly consider incorporating support for other Head Tracking software and hardware in their 64bit versions of the DCS series currently available and including future series. Currently we are limited to one choice being Natural points Track iR which has been the forefront in Head Tracking Technology and still is an excellent device with good support. However we are all aware newer technology has started to show its possibilities with systems like face Track Noir. Currently DSC only supports Natural Point products leaving no room for competition when it comes to bringing new technology to the table. Competition is healthy and it’s a win win situation for everyone especially the flight SIM enthusiasts. Without it old technology is allowed to remain in the arena unchallenged and over priced and we are the only losers. The petition can be found at http://www.petitiononline.com/Tracking/petition.html Please take 5 minutes to fill in a few details and give your support. I am not bias to anyone of these available technologies and I am doing this for ME and also those of you who like a little choice and like to see technology kept on the edge. One small thing to consider; Imagine head tracking with no restraints, no cables, wires and other such things attached to your head. The kinect technology coming soon to the PC supports lip reading and syncing technology, this would remove the need for having to mash the F keys when using radios. The Kinect also provides directional sound recording, it senses your head position and captures sound from in and around your facial position. No more head phones. Guys this is called moving forward and if we sit around waiting for someone to do this who has no urgent reason to do so because they monopolize the market then we are the only losers. I don't want of these” L” on my forehead…..

  22. Because this is DCS/Lockon community not the ProFalcon leet pilot community, the old elitist stance that some of those yahoos use to express is derogatory and unfriendly, unfortunately it is now infecting and trying to divide our community. Peace. FC2 with the hog all boils down to how much of an impact on timescale it makes, there is no other issue worthy of worry just pure snobbery.

  23. Technically the last one is mark Y - mark Z is a magic marker for the calculated point of impact for your latest weapon release, updated every time you fire anything. Can be helpful when you need to make a second attack run but you've gotten lost. :D Edit: curses!

  26. That right there is the essence of the argument. LockOn does not adequately model Real World capabilities and limitations of weapons, radars, ECM, ECCM. Imperative to be added to that list is probably the most important aspect - the Flight Model. DCS at present does as far as circumstances permit and continues to improve upon said modelling with every reiteration. If LockOn had to be tweaked to bring it up to DCS standards in relating to Flight Model, Weapons, Radars, ECM etc etc then we'll have DCS - Realistically we all know that's not gonna happen......to LockOn, that is. The argument of Hard-Core vs Non-Hardcore therefore does not stem from the fact that there are more buttons to press et al, but rather the fact that with DCS it takes 100% of effort/2 minutes to attend to a specific goal, whereas in LockOn it takes 50%/1 minute to attend to the very same goal. Taking the extremely simplified example as above one can understand why DCS users will be a wee bit irritated at a LockOn users who rely on the inherent 'simpleness' of the LockOn Flight Model/Weapons model etc etc to obtain an advantage, be it in time, effort or otherwise, in a mission - Therein lies the problem, albeit one easily solved by server-specific missions.

  28. While you are a bit harsher than I would be, I do have to agree. A lot of people don't quite understand what a detailed simulation means - and what it does not mean. If you want to learn how to start and operate a "real" plane, you need something "hardcore" like DCS. But if you want to learn how to actually conduct aerial warfare, something like FC does the job perfectly. You don't need a clickable cockpit to learn how to execute proper tactics and how to maintain your SA in a furball, nor do you need über-fidelity flight models. Of course, in a perfect world (that is, after a couple more DCS products) we can have all of those things at the same time, but for now there is still a lot to be said for a survey simulator like FC. "Hardcore" or not is a question of how you use it more than a question of the product itself. Hell - you can even use a game like Quake for perfectly "hardcore" purposes - set health to 20% and let the students learn the value of proper advancement techniques. (And mind you, Quake is stupidly difficult when you have pretty much zero health and have to co-op meituclously with your teammates to survive a match.)

Слава Lock on да пусть придет Lock on 3!

  35. To create an SPI with any of the sensors (HUD, TAD or TGP), they must be the current SOI at the moment. So, to create an SPI in the TAD, you'll have to: 1) Coolie Hat Left Long - chooses the TAD on the left MFCD as SOI; 2) Slew to the desired target; 3) TMS Up Short to hook; 4) TMS Up Long to create SPI.
