  1. Hi all, I have made a 10min tutorial on Air to Air refuel with KC-135, there is no speaker in the clip but there is some text in the clip on what to do and some tips. Hope you enjoy my first try to make a tutorial :smartass:

  3. Hello folks, this might be an idea for any of you who extended the Warthog/Cougar stick and miss the feedback from the springs. I bought an industrial type spring 7 cm diameter and 13 cm high. With some time and the correct screws and shims it can be mounted directly to the base instead of the aluminium cover ring. More and more it looks like a pit :D The spring is from www.febrotec.de I chose this one: http://www.febrotec.de/content.php?lang=en&seite=shop/produkte.php&hauptrubrik=2&details=6498 This one gives a feedback power similar to a Saitek X-52 EDIT: Link to post with details on the build

  5. Hello, I got an idea today for more individually rearming on ground. I think of an additional menu item in ground crew->rearm with the name "individual". After choosing this, you have to chose the hardpoint, lets say f1 for hardpoint 1, f2 for hardpoint 2, and so on, then select a weapon type like CBU, GBU, AGM, and so on, and finally the specific weapon. And after this only your selected Hardpoint gets rearmed with the selected weapon. This would allow to rearm everything you want, but the predefined loadouts are still there for fast and easy access. What do you think about? best regards sebihepp

  7. Same here with A-10C. I never fly A-10C but I bought it to support ED and the overall cause of this hobby.

  8. Viper, it's not hardcore enough for Mr. Mower :D FC3 would be awesome if they did do it. It would be extra cash for them :)

  10. Ok, it does seem to be more effective when attacking from behind, and at a steeper downward angle. Which I find really strange. I've done some research, seen the History channel, Googled, Youtubed, Wiki, etc. and I can not for the life of me find ANYTHING that says an A-10 is not effective against a T-80 or T-72 if attacking from the front. In fact some of the Videos I've seen clearly show a tank being attacked and the front of the tank is the target, no problem is destroying it at all. Why should it matter in this sim if you're attacking it from the front or behind? I know the tank has thicker armor in the front, but no tank can survive the GAU-8 Avenger within .7 miles of burst rounds. From what people have said in this forum, attacking the tank from behind angels 10 and within .7 miles is how you kill the tanks. Is that a correct assumption? I seriously doubt that out of the 900 tanks destroyed in the first Iraq war (those of which destroyed by the GAU-8) all those kills that were done from attacking the tanks from behind because hitting from the front or side would be useless. If thats the case, they need to give the A-10 a new nickname. From "Tankbuster" to "Behind the Tankbuster"

  12. Oh you forgot somethings... Nevada map after all, which will certainly eat a lot of time as well...:D So my guess is that any announcements concerning a new model might be expected around first quarter of 2012 at the very earliest ...until that point we´ve to try to become a professional on the hog and the BlackShark...and the ones who are already professional (or think they are^^) can spend some time in teaching those who are not..;)

  17. Looks good Panzer although for HARD I would have F10 Own aircraft only. By definition REAL should be real, surely, Maybe have an extra option called REAL(ext) for those that like to salivate over their shiny aircraft or gloat over their mates collander. Agree that it would be nice to be able to lock the F7 option or just tie it in with the F10 option views.

  19. Could you attach a track of your flight, so we can take a look? The updated missions had been tested and found to play through correctly, but it's possible something was missed or perhaps something going wrong on your end. To make sure you are in fact flying the updated mission and not the outdated ones that came default with 1.1.0.8, what are the exact names of the waypoints you see on the HUD when you cycle through them?

  20. Regarding the computation limit: * It takes one woman 9.5 months to have a baby. * You cannot use 9.5 women to have a baby in one month. For some types of problems you can do stuff in parallel (graphics) but other types of problems (eg. carrying a baby) cannot be solved that way (eg. iterative computations that have steps that rely on other steps to be complete first, or network traffic to arrive). Then there is the problem where even if you can parallelize an algorithm/computation you can't reduce the pieces too small and too spread because the overhead of communicating and coordinating between threads, cores or machines dominates the time to compute. IIRC the Australian Air Force built an F-18 flight simulator that used 33 PCs working together (presumably dual-CPU each with multi-cores). For one simulated F-18. IMHO (as a developer) it is amazing what Eagle Dynamics has done with A-10C - and it runs on PCs with a lowly 4 GB RAM and on my venerable Q6600. Sure that F-35 looks amazing. But you're forgetting the multi-million Defence Mapping Agency budget that did the terrain data (both acquiring it and stitching it together so it doesn't have defects). Then there is the team that wrote the software, and the team that built the simulator hardware and electronics interface. Total project cost is millions, as is the cost of a full, movable cockpit with hydraulic throw. Then we get folks on here whinging at the $60 cost of the product, and then there are all those who pirate it. Flight simming is a niche market as it is, and ED do very well with what must be relatively limited budgets compared to 'mainstream' games - and that's before the 'pirates' steal copies of the game. Fortunately ED gets money through military contracts or we would have nothing. Sure it is a nice dream to have Crysis level graphics in a sim, but realistically: * no-one has a PC that can run it, and is not likely to in the future (quantum computers are good for simulating *gasp* quantum systems but are relatively crap at general purpose computing * ED doesn't have the budget or time for the consumer-adaptations of the military versions to create something like Crysis (preferring instead to get aerodynamics and systems right). * Even if ED made such a simulator, no-one could afford to pay what was required to cover the development costs. In short, you're dreaming if you think it is possible to make DCS have a 60 km view radius and render every leaf as in Crysis while having the great systems, battle and weapons modelling of current DCS.

  21. I got it working on keyboards and keypad. Without any other than you 'normal' keyboard and mouse plugged in, open HID up and look at the devices tab and make a note of the first few numbers. I think that you PS2 devices show up as ACPI in the System ID and USB devices show as HID but I might be wrong (if you are using a laptop, i think the keyboard and built in mouse also come up under ACPI). Now close HID, make sure it isnt open in your system tray. Now plug your devices in and turn HID back on and you should see them in the devices tray. Make a note of the devices name, Kbd2 for example may be your additional USB keyboard. Now goto macro's > NEW > Rename "GUN ARM" > Scan > Press the key you want GUN ARM to be on the new device > You should now see in Edit Macro, "Gun Arm" "Keybd2" "81 (q)". This is showing that you have pressed "Q" on Kbd2. Now send keyboard sequence in predefined tab. If you goto help tab at the bottom look for this: Appendix: Supported modifiers for keystroke sequence + = Shift ^ = Control % = Alt So I input into the "send key board sequence" "%+Q" There is no save button in HID so keep doing it for all the keys you want to programme. New > rename> edit macro> scan > send sequence. Make a note of the multipliers you are using. Now close HID to system tray (if you close it completely and just for you own peace of mind re open and go in and you will see all the codes still there). HID needs to be running in the background for it to work. Now when you go into A-10 and Options and Controlls, goto the Gun Arm button, edit keyboard, and press "q" on your new device the keyboard will send ALT + SHIF + Q. Providing you dont double any multipliers you have potentially: 1 normal + 3 multipliers = 4 x 4 combinations = 16 x 102 keys = 1000's potential key strokes (excuse the maths). Hope this helps.

  23. Competition is usually a good thing, so I'm waiting for the release too. But I find myself more curious about how people will react to the new sim, rather than about the new sim itself. :D

  26. These same reasonable people probably also love IL-2 without realising this is just as lite as FC. Ever thought that the agreeing part is just an unwarranted stigma attached by those with Falcon ingrained into their lives, suddenly flicking a few switches makes you a different breed of pilot LMAO. Are you worried that FC3 will infect DCS? Wake up, the AI you love to kill so much in DCS and Falcon is 100% scripted in its operation more so than the functions performed from one key press by a human in FC. So why in your eyes is it Hardcore when the AI do it but suddenly becomes arcade when a human does it? Where FC and DCS are so alike is in pilot behaviour, you get the same result by what you put in. If a FC pilot and a DCS pilot want to communicate, taxi together, take off together, fly in formation and engage the enemy with co-ordination they can with no difference in eithers performance. If your under the illusion that the DCS pilot would be more serious in his business then your woefully wrong. Your inexperience with FC community doesn't give you the credibilty to make that comparison. One of your biggest gripes has been the airquake in large servers, what do you think will be so different in large capacity servers with DCS:fastjet, A-10C etc. only? The difference in extra minutes to take off makes not a jot of difference to how a virtual pilot will perform in the air. When set up and ready to enter the combat zone, to kill an enemy fighter takes a lock and launch no matter how detailed the sim is your flying. The extra tools that come with DCS are never a hinderance. On the pluses for DCS pilots, realistic ECM and ECCM is something that has never been realised anywhere near in a sim, hopefully DCS can get closer to this. Radar modes a plenty, Datalink etc. Its only better to be flying DCS. How can FC affect this? If you want to have your own private flights where organisation and realistic procedures are paramount you can do so, not that it means much to you but its been done for years in FC on a level your obviously unaware of, don't expect it to happen in everyday DCS servers though because a lot of people just want to fly and shoot sh## after a hard days work. This will never change. And if your worried about the nubs that teamkill everyone, well there already in DCS. Please Mr/Mrs/Ms Mower give a valid reason for a change instead of the pointless negative griping/repping.
