The attached file contains PDF's with the basic dimensions for the panels I am designing. Several people have asked about the dimensions and whether they would work with Dimebug's pit plans. I think they will, but here they are for those who'd like to verify. If you print these out 1:1, you can use them as guides for laying out any panels you get from me. The drawings in the PDF's are for the panel backplate (or switchplate). These would mount to the consoles and the lightplates would then mount to these. They are slighting oversized from the lightplates to allow some flexibility in mounting. The cutouts for switches and displays are based on the switches I have, so I've not included dimensions on all of those, but did throw in few. Also, a few panels like the UHF and VHF don't have display cutouts at present since I don't have a potential solution for those yet. DISCLAIMER - these are not 100% accurate designs. They would most likely not mount onto DZUS rails. My goal is to reproduce the panels on a level that is close to the real thing, not exact copies. Making exact replicas would increase the time and cost of making these. basic_panel_dims.zip2 points

Hi Folks, As a newbie let me first introduce myself. My name is Johan (Jedi as callsign) and i live in the Netherlands. I fly sims, especially MS FlightSimulator for over more then 10 years now. Joined a club called DFSO and flew 767's and 737's over IVAO's network. This year a friend of my and also member of DFSO asked me to try somting completly different. You guess right: DCS A-10C Warthog. Now, Combatsimming is someting totally new to me so i had to (still am) learning every day about the systems and tactics. It's a steep learningcurve but i'm hooked :) When i flew with MSFS i had build a simple 737 setup at home. Someting like that i wanted to build also for the A-10. My friend started the idea to take as base the Akers and Barnes design. With their aproval we started. As a CAD engineer (Revit) for profession i started to make a model. In a nut shell: One month past and we came up with a model. After we both where satisfied with the design we started building. See the result below. Grtz from Holland. Johan "Jedi"1 point

I just think there have been too many "lol"s (not only by you) and smiley faces on a thread that is about a war where thousands of people have dided that day alone.1 point

I run F4AF under win7 x64 so it should work. Also, suggestion from MATT is really good - gets Odans seal of approval :) OpenFalcon is the deeper simulated of the three with Data Cartridge and stuff, becomes alot key pushing according to some. Though FF have some neat HARM pages in the avionics but is mostly popular for allowing to fly more planetypes with dedicated pits (2D and 3D). I'm sure SUBS or Mower can describe OF in more detail for you if you ask them. I think most old falconeers fly OF and AF or FF and AF - some F4 talibans try all three with registry update icons ready on the desktop (I used to) but I think most are either FF or OF (always nagging eachothers) but also have AF installed. Personally I've streamlined myself to only AF nowadays as ArmA2 takes insanely much of my spare time.1 point

I guess this thread can help you with your "bug quest" Nate... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=53635&highlight=K-041 I have also added couple of trigers with messages in my track file on the first page of this thread... P.S. small offtopic... i'm asking my self this for long time, is this Frederf guy really banned or is it some mistake ??? I learned so much from his posts...1 point

images only without explanation doesn't make any sense . i do not take part , i describe the situation a bit ;) if you open a thread about Georgian war it'll be a russian army/airforce thread , one about the Iraqi war it'll be a US army/airforce one . french operated around 30 % of ground attacks , it's a bit normal we see them a bit ;)1 point

I have never got into formation flying, I never understood how it worked or had the patience to learn how to do it properly. After (fighting) trying to master the controls over the last few weeks, I am finally starting to understand how to fly the Black Shark and last night my skills were really put to the test, in Mission Two of the epic Vergeev Campaign. I have struggled with this mission for the last three days, trying to understand what I was doing wrong, why I couldn't keep up with lead, constantly losing visual with him... I guess that must be what it's like in real life for new pilots... After finding some tips in this thread, I set aside a couple of hours last night and tried again to conquer this challenge, this was my fourth attempt and I wanted to thank the developers and celebrate my success with this After Mission Report. I highly recommend the Vergeev Campaign to anyone looking for realism. Toby VergeevCampaign.pdf1 point

Nope, IDLE is simply the bottom/lowest/most back position of the throttle, i.e. the lowest it can go without lifting it over the hump to get to the OFF position.1 point

Hi, (I realize this post subject is old news, but maybe I can be useful to you.) I used to do a lot of hiking in the Northeastern United States mountain areas on trails and bushwhacking. 1970's I only used the paper USGS topographic quadrangles, pencil and eraser. Maps were cheap enough to purchase another one if necessary. Map was put inside a waterproof plastic case, ziplock, with neck strap. The best maps currently for hiking are made out of a waterproof material. All map trails and topo contours are GPS and other sources, but very accurate. The outfit is called "The New York / New Jersey Trail Conference" . http://www.nynjtc.org Contact them and pick brains with the cartographers as to how to write on maps and the material they use.1 point

For any sticks except the replica HOTAS, that's what you have to do. This is because the replica actually replicates the OFF-to-idle function, other sticks only have the axis.1 point

Ditto for me too. Was on 11.6 but updated to 11.8 yesterday when trying to solve an issue with another game(which turned out to be something else), but then I noticed the white box was back. Will probably roll back to 11.6 until this hopefully gets sorted out with AMD.1 point

No, the HUD isn't different in multiplayer. It sounds like you haven't switched the navigation system to use your EGI instead of the old HARS (which is now just a fallback). Maybe review your startup procedure. After the EGI is fully aligned (i.e. the text saying it's aligned is flashing), hit the NAV button to set it to navigation mode rather than align, then press the EGI button on the panel in front of the stick, below the HSI. For CCRP, yes you always need to set your SPI so your system will direct you to the correct release point. If you're dropping inertially guided munitions (GBU-31/38) then your SPI is also the point they'll be programmed to hit. For the laser-guided bombs, you can technically release them from any point where they'll be able to pick up the laser reflection, but it's still a good idea to make your SPI as close a match to the desired impact point as you can.1 point

Hello. I wanted to show you this little analysis of the different options available in Eyefinity. Each rectangle represents a 1920x1080 monitor. The option of 3 stacked monitors do not show for lack of screenshots, although it seems less useful. edit: also missing the 6x2 mode, I not have screenshots. 1 camera, 3 monitors landscape. It is the most common. Good peripheral vision, but little vertical angle. In my view, does not compensate for peripheral vision in relation to poor cockpit view. 1 camera, 3 monitors portrait. Good balance, vertical and horizontal, we continue with 3 monitors and an acceptable cost. I think the best option. 1 camera, 5 monitor portrait. Visually spectacular, has good vertical and horizontal angle. Like 3x1 landscape, peripheral vision is distorted. Its main drawback, the cost, not just monitors, graphics card. And space. A good method to get divorced. 5 cameras, 5 monitors portrait. It solves the problem of distorted peripheral vision, greatly improves the field of vision, but has the disadvantage of poor performance. Greetings, I hope you find it useful. Excuse my Googlenglish. :music_whistling: edit: Add this image to compare proportions.1 point

Since when is that their goal? ED's goal is to make money and I can tell you right now a Blackhawk sim wouldn't move many copies for precisely the reason I said unless there was something extremely special about it - and I'm not thinking 'special' in the realm of simulated reality. Special as in the only way I can imagine your average sim consumer seriously wanting to spend money on it would be to greatly dramatize the entire thing (think Black Hawk Down). Additionally the problem with any infantry-centric helicopter is the fact that DCS's implementation and handling of ground combat is not its strong suit. A simple helicopter like a Blackhawk might be "quick" to implement, but I doubt that - there's still a ton of research and even something crude like a Blackhawk has several dozen switches to flip and its own avionics suite. Additionally, to implement something that literally does almost nothing except carry infantry around without greatly improving the entire 'ground' aspect both in terms of visual fidelity and infantry would just make it feel soulless. Compare flying a helicopter over Chernarus in ArmA2 to the KA-50 and you see what I mean... WWyyiLFRTN4 xR5tEFBkeZw1 point
