  2. I used to be an avid combat flight sim enthusiast, back in the day when they were thick on the ground (Falcon 3.0/4.0, Jane's everything, EF2000, etc). When LOMAC came out, I bought it, but my computer at the time was a little under-powered, and all I had for a controller was a Saitek X-45 that never worked very well. I had to turn the graphics way down to make it playable, and I was constantly fighting the calibration on my HOTAS. I played for a couple weeks, then never again. Basically, after that I stopped keeping up with the hobby. But recently, I got the bug to try it out again. I found a copy of F4 Allied Force and a used TM Cougar with pedals on Craigslist. It took a few evenings of tweaking to get everything working. Then I was having fun, but was finding the technology behind Allied Force to be somewhat dated (which is fair, since the engine is now about 13 years old) and buggy. Then I found DCS A-10C on Steam last week. Wow. I'm blown away by how incredibly beautiful it is, and how well everything works. It's a blast to just fly around and enjoy the scenery. The level of control over the systems is a little mind-boggling, but the training missions have at least got me to the point where I can fly into combat without feeling completely lost. Though it would be nice if there were some more training scenarios for things like communication with other packages and FAC. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for helping to re-kindle my love for combat flight sims. Now I just have to convince my wife that I need a TrackIR for Christmas

  4. The fraction is even smaller when you take a ratio of the number of users that posted in this thread versus the total number of registered users. Only 117 members have posted in here over the 32488 forum members, which is 0.36% of the forum. Now consider that this 0.36% is not unanimous. Some people like Airbuster would like to see a FC2 compatibility patch, while other people like HiJack would rather have FC3, and there are various other opinions floating around. Any opinion expressed here is a fraction of a small minority of a small minority that neglects the opinions of non-English speakers. This does not even account for the fact that there are other factors involved in product decisions such as military contracts, data availability, project complexity, and money. This is why I do not expect what I think to have a noticeable impact on what ED does (although I certainly would like it to), but by looking at the general trend of opinions here and elsewhere, it may be possible to vaguely extrapolate the opinions of the larger, silent, customer base. So what you say does matter, sort of. The term "minority" does not mean completely irrelevant. ED does an excellent job communicating with its community compared to many companies. Even the moderators are more involved here, on some sites its hard to tell whether they are actually humans or not, but I never feel completely ignored here. But that also does not change the fact that we currently know even less about ED's future plans or reasoning with Flaming Cliffs as we do about DCS:Next. The uncertainty, speculation, and arguments makes it all a little more exciting, which I think is part of the plan. (Either that or its just to keep people from getting upset and having fits when things don't work out.) I actually prefer the way ED always has pleasant surprises rather than failed promises. The developers bear all the burden of disappointment for us.

  8. Not if the relevant parties are a reasonable and realistic distance apart to start with and an even half realistic IADS network is set up. Something that was sadly lacking during my very short dabble into FC2. If the missions are designed for airquake, airquake is what you'll get. It doesn't matter how many switches you have, if the mission is unrealistic people will fly in an unrealistic way. This is something that is very apparent if you take a look at many of the public DCS servers.

  10. Hi, can someone plz explain in a short way, the steps for customizing the indicators manually? I looked all arround in forums but i really don´t understand it... Downloaded here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1256947&postcount=144 AN_ALR69V_init.lua and CMSC_init.lua. I placed them into my A-10C´s dedicated folders. What i see now is that the indicators are in wrong size and place. To place them up and down, i have to play around with coordinates in monitor.lua. But how do i change the letter size of the indicators. Are there dependencies with my main resolution of 5040x1050 in some other .lua? What are the next steps to adjust it to my needs? Is there a step by step how-to existing? Hope new Easy Monitor Configurator is on the way:music_whistling: Greets Terrorvogel Now it looks like this:
