  1. If you came into land without clearance in the real world the ATC would got fing nuts and you would be grounded for a considerable time no doubt! That would be more realistic, maybe your serial should be suspended for a month while you study ATC regulations! ;)

  2. There are many skinners pondering the new SPEC in the DCS World series....Including myself. Through my trial and errors, I'll post what I find, and try to keep this simple. I encourage those with knowledge to share the wealth. :book: When you look at the OEM SPEC *.dds files of the P-51D 'Bare Metal' skin, you notice the files use greenish and magneta colors to distinguish from flat & matte, to reflections. From a beginners stand-point, "The greener it is, the more matte it is; The more magneta it is, the shinier & more reflective it is." But there's more to it! See attachment 1 For the most part, to achieve the colors that you see in the files, you have to adjust R(ED), G(REEN), B(LUE) values of each layer you create or want to have specular. "To be honest, I couldn't replicate the colors manually." But you can also use gray scale colors where black is matte, and white is shiny. If you had noticed, the official P-51D template has a SPEC group that nearly mimics the DIF group. Delete the SPEC group that's in the template and duplicate the DIF group. Within the duplicated group, add an Adjustable Layer at the top of the group. Now slide the Saturation Bar all the way to the left. See attachment 2 In attachment 2, you see that the skin has a lot of light grey colors. If you're making a metal skin, it's ok. But we need a dull coat on this Desert Rat. * Begin by creating a new layer and giving it a very dark gray color. Now hide all the layers except the Color group. See attachment 3 For peace of mind; doing this unclutters the workspace and allows you to know what you have worked on already. The next part is pretty much up to you adjusting the layers. Keep in mind the layers properties you used in the DIF group copied over. Adjust as nessecary to achieve your look. * See my next "help" post about finding the right metal colors for reflections.

  3. Guys, we've improved P-51 PSD template. Please redownload. http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ru/181018/#postform Added sources for serial and tactical numbers and propeller. Slightly changed the wings lines of skin and wing-fuselage fairings. You can transfering your skins to new template and reload specular maps. Also uploaded the pilots PSD files. http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ru/202315/

  10. I spent 22 years in the U.S. Air Force as a flyer… I can tell you for FACT it was NEVER policy to plan a mission expecting to sacrifice the aircraft and aircrew to accomplish the mission. Missions are planned specifically to maximize the capabilities of the assets available vs. a specific target and the threats present at the time. THEN specific steps are taken to MINIMIZE the threats encountered by the crews actually executing the mission. It’s a simple matter of numbers. A.) We can’t afford to PLAN to lose people and aircraft when we never know how long a war will last. B.) MOST pilots are smart people… You tell one “Hey go bomb this target… OH BTW we’re sacrificing YOUR jets and YOUR live to accomplish the mission…” they are going to tell you to pound sand and re-plan the mission to better their chances of survival. About the only real exception to was in the case of SAR missions where yes, you might find aircraft in a threat environment we normally wouldn’t put them in

  11. No, it's not about blame. Also, the hypoxia problem affects only a small part of F-22 flights. However, it is good practice in aviation to dig into any problem, whatever the cost. This has been the foundation of flight safety. We could never have had such a booming aviation business if we would have been sloppy on safety. With 5th generation aircraft one is breaking new ground. Better sort out the F-22 problem before the same cause propagates in hundreds of F-35's. Many feel the report on Elmendorf was too quick to blame the pilot, and was not taking the problems seriously. E.g., the fact that it wasn't possible to identify the cause of the original bleed air problem should have made the report much more prudent in its conclusions. In this case, some bad press is saving lives in the long run.

  12. Very good post, and good work. I don't use multiple viewports, but for the sake of those who do, please listen to this man.

  13. Big +1!! There are many of us who have invested a lot of time, effort and money to have some really incredible immersion. Please make sure the features you've introduced that let both multi-monitor, touchscreen and full hardware pits work don't take steps backwards!

  14. If you are not posting any crashlogs or other information, how do you expect anyone to do anything about it in this thread? ;) Without logs, or at least some relevant information, the thread is redundant. Please consider including logs in the future.

  17. Hey Paulrkii, this little flying tiger under the canopy looks very similar to this: It was painted on Su-22M4 from 6th Fighter-Bomber Regiment in my city Piła in Poland.

  18. A little OT but I love this video, I don't normally like this sort of music but..... It fits with the video. The other thing that still amazes me is the fact that these pilots on the strafing runs here had no idea that their work would be shown to millions of people. To them it was a dangerous venture into enemy held territory but to us it's just another youtube video. Hat's off to all the pilots who flew/fought, regardless of axis or allies.

  19. started to experiment with DCS World sea animations ingame = with preset wave heights, however this is very early experimenting. plan is to see if we can at least get 3 animated sea states built ingame calm moderate swells and heavy swells as shown in screen below. the dev team may even add this themselves later on, but its good to know that its moddable the sea. heavy sea swells ..screens below also colors adjusted .

  20. This isn't related to .EDM, but it's a video I made last year explaining how to import your model as a new structure in Lock on. It may also work for DCS, but I haven't tried it yet.
