Same issue here. 269.6 and no response. Thought maybe I needed to fly toward the orange line first, but that did not help. Mission script appears to be on hold. Will re-try the mission later. EDIT: Actually I was trying the bottom radio first, only tried the new top radio after the text disappeared. I should have tried them the other way around.

Just finished Mission 8 part one. Landed with 400 pounds fuel remaining because I spent so much time orbiting trying to find the enemy. The first two mission objectives request attack on enemy units. In each case, I could not find one of those units. I eventually did, and found both were hidden in a tree/bush cluster with nothing visible. Not on IR white/black, not on EO mono/color. Looking at a YouTuber playing the same mission, I see his vehicles placed in the open and clearly visible via the TGP. I guess this is more of a DCS issue than this mission, as vehicles may possibly move, and the IR TGP seems to show stationary vehicles with no heat effect, nearly the same color as the terrain even when in the open. Here's a screenshot from my flyover. I've added an arrow. I did notice that if you look real close, or toggle the night vision goggles on and off, for a moment you can see a red pixel showing the enemy location: Again, no matter how I pointed my TGP and no matter which mode, I could not make out a vehicle in that bush/tree cluster except for the red pixel with label dots enabled. EDIT: I hesitate to mention here as it's a separate issue, but the JTAC in this mission is pedantic, and won't accept your 90 deg course unless you fly around that antenna on the hill. Adds frustration which google / forum search shows is not uncommon.

Thanks for responding. I did not save any log files. I skipped that mission rather than repeat and successfully completed Mission 6 with no problems.

Got an error and crash after Mission 5. Likely caused by DCS rather than the campaign itself. After landing on mission over, I chose Quit from the menu. The game did nothing for an unexpectedly long time, then showed message: "Can not open debriefing file" over a black background. (attached) I don't remember if I pressed OK or ESC here, but it then showed (something like) "Are you sure you want to quit, progress will be lost". I did hit ESC then, in order to re-try mission exit. After that the screen went entirely black and nothing happened. I ended up using Task Manager to terminate the app. No bug report dialog appeared.

Just started the campaign and am enjoying it. Some of the missions have had F10 menu options to direct the flight to attack primary or secondary targets. When I've tried this, I hear an acknowledgement, then nothing happens. Not once has my flight attacked anything that I know of. Since map symbols and external views are disabled, I can't tell if they are even trying. Perhaps this is a bug? I would like to let the flight attack, partly to help out, and partly to use their weapons if I've only destroyed part of a larger target group and am now low on ammo.

I think there were about 3 missions this occurred on. One my have been the very last mission (accept choice). EDIT: I only used the air start on two occasions when I crashed. I do appreciate the effort put in to make that work, that is a big quality of life thing, not having to repeat the whole mission due to some mistake part way.

Now I'm enthused. I didn't realize the campaign was away from the boat. I'm tired of the boat for both Bug and Harrier. Was thinking I'd have to get the F16 version just to get a break from carrier ops!

One more minor issue, if you use auto startup, for some of the missions, the VHF radio is set to a channel with loud static noise. So player needs to change the frequency a tick or two, tune a real mission frequency, or mute with the switches. Otherwise the noise is very annoying. I don't recall having to do this before, and I'm not sure it is intentional. During the missions we will set our radios, but not always certain ones, and not always at the start.

Just finished the campaign. I enjoyed it quite a lot. Thank you! Highlights were relatively simple and short missions. Good motivation to fly the Huey. A little bit of everything, transport, support, combat operations. Thankfully minimal sling loading. Door gunning! Always great to orbit and strafe things, lighting them on fire. Radio Lebanon, helps with straight and level flight to waypoints. Banter, I do like some chit chat to make the missions feel more alive, even if not realistic. Could improve: Voice acting, some story elements, variety of radio music. But none of this was bad, just could be improved. I recommend this to all chopper pilots including newbies.

Coming back to the A10 after some years, I'm doing this tutorial again to re-familiarize... Got TGP AUTOLOASE FAIL on the TGP screen. Followed all instructions as far as I know. EDIT: After figuring out how to clear the fail message with ACK. I repeated the bombing run and it worked the second time

Thank you. I'd forgotten about that. I even had it bound to a joystick button.

A few times I've played campaign missions where the briefing says I can, for example, request help from another flight of AH-64 Apaches. Trouble is, when in flight, the F10 menu, which I believe is called the Radio Communications menu, and is by default bound to the back slash key, has no effect. When I'm on the ground, this menu works just fine. Am I missing something?

Since it's a wish list... I'd love to see trees like we're spoiled with in MS Flight Simulator 2024. The 2020 version had pleasant trees, but they looked blurry from a distance and pixelated up close. The 2024 version has quite amazing trees, similar from a distance but real detailed and solid up close. Anyway there are a few things that would improve trees in DCS: 1. More color variation for grass and trees. 2. Higher density trees for forest areas. 3. Better looking trees at distance and up close. 4. Destruction mask, so trees can be destroyed and either removed or replaced. The coloring effect would bring existing maps closer to life and make them more interesting to look at. Higher density is needed for future Vietnam and other dense forest regions. I'm very grateful for the revolution in volumetric cloud tech in recent years. Hoping for another in vegetation!

Just for clarity, I see the name 'User Snap View Saving'. I find saving the default view works with most, but not all aircraft, namely the A-10C II does not seem to save the default.

Just noticed the mission text (displayed from the campaign screen when you select a mission), for missions 8 and 9 is almost identical. That may be a mistake. Also, I forgot to write which mission, but one of the early ones, perhaps 2,3 or one starting from the boat, had a 'debug' marker text message appear right near the start I recall. That was after reading the change log of another debug message already fixed. I'll try to pay more attention and write down such observations so they can be fixed in future.

Spoilers: Mission 6, Heavy Load bug
DimSim replied to Dachs's topic in DCS: UH-1H Peacekeeper Lebanon Campaign
Same, the wounded were loaded as I was slowing down to hover and land. They completed the loading sequence before I touched down, so I didn't end up landing at all. -
Just commenting on tuning in to Radio Lebanon. I had been tuning in on the main VHF radio, but found the static noise often overwhelming. Just tried using the Nav-Comm radio instead, and found it is crystal clear. Why is this?

After flying in circles looking for the Tyre base, I finally found it... It's been overgrown by buildings. I looked at a YouTube of another player playing this mission and the map area looks nothing like it. If you look closely you can see vehicles on roof tops and the base overlapping the town. EDIT: With a bit of care, it is possible to land beside the other chopper and complete the mission objective.

Same here, 440khz ADF at least near mission start sends you out to sea to the west. I found a tanker type ship out there and same as OP, could not land, just slid off the pad, but it wasn't a military ship anyway.

On Sortie 3, sometimes these pairs of soldiers don't pay attention to aircraft near by and just walk straight through the hangar into spinning props... Not sure if anything can be done to improve this. I restarted the mission in case I was blamed and score wiped as has happened before. They still walked through the hangar, but I managed to move the plane.

How to land an F16 vs F18
-
Lots of good an accurate opinions above. My 2c from a long time with the F18 and recent start with F16... F18 is easier to fly, F16 is simpler to fight. With F16 you keep hands on stick/throttle more, F18 you press buttons around MFDs more. F18 is easier to land and a lot more forgiving due to carrier ops. With F18, landing on carrier is a challenge. With F16, landing is a challenge Both are fun once mastered. F18 has carrier ops. Both are good quality aircraft with different philosophies. They are specific block models. I personally wish I could mix a few bits of both to make the perfect era aircraft.

Nice work, thank you. A pleasant low level flight. Might I suggest changing the time of day to something like morning, and weather to very light cloud cover. That way the scenery would look more interesting, with higher contrast and shadows. If the the shadows are too long though, they tend to flick on and off due to the view culling behavior, so best not too close to dawn or dusk for that reason.
