BAROMETRIC PRESSURES :??? can someone clarify those figures please???
JEFX replied to JEFX's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
:( after further testing, I changed to pressure in the ME to QNH 700 In the cockpit, on my altimeter, the pressure is still 2993... ANd ATC gives me QFE 3774 How do I use this last number to adjust my altimeter??? -
This is from a very basic TAKE OFF FROM RAMP no changes anywhere : In the ME, in the weather module, I see the barometric pressure as QNH 760 In cockpit, on the altimeter, the barometric pressure shows 2993 (approx) And when asked permission to takeoff, ATC gives me QFE 3984 How do these figure relate to each other and how to use them properly ?(both for mission making and for flying purposes) thanks!!! The more I play, the more I cant wait for brief in-game...
JEFX replied to Quirkitized's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
What exactly was mentioned about briefing? I am interested too -
I find it quite disturbing (in the ME) to make a flight plan in feet and NM and knots, then when I look at the summary of my flight (sigma symbol) I get a summary in meters and KM/h, then, if I want to measure anything on the map, I use the ruler and it is in meters as well, and finally, when planning the weather, it is also in metric... but when one puts the mouse somwhere on the map, if you look in the lower left ALT field of the map legend, the location of your cursor is in ... feet. FInally, the whole flight experience in the Hog is in imperial... I find myself constantly having to translate km in NM, not that it is difficult, but it would be really normal that, when in OPTIONS we dial IMPERIAL, it is granted that it is for the whole experience non? thaJEFXnks

I had the same question : if I ask my wingman to 'attack with' at default My own voice says : attack ... at my SPI How can he do that without me broadcasting my SPI??? I made an experiment where I have the next WP as my SPI, ask him to do that and instantly I can see on my TAD the purple line of his LOS to my SPI. I then changed my SPI to another WP and request the same thing again, and instantly his purple line goes to the other WP as requested... The problem is that through all this, my SPI was off on the TAD OSB6 is that a bug??? Or we see here again a manifestation of His Supreme Knowledge off All (I mean AI god) :music_whistling: thanks

THANKS!! Thanks Warrior for another great clear, helpful and very well designed tutorial! WOW! Perhaps I can add my personal way to play around with BULLSEYE CALLS… Just for the fun of adding to the discussion. When in the heat of battle, you can get many different BULLSEYE calls very quickly, some that can be very helpful. They can come from friendly aircraft operating near you and calling their targets, they can show you the location of enemy assets and, especially, SAMs and other threat… They can also come from AWACS. Those indication are very precious for a better SA and you need to process them quickly. I like to use the TAD for this purpose : -Set the TAD as SOI -Hook something (yourself, for example) with TMS forward short (that will make active the bearing and range indicator in the lower right corner of the TAD. -At first, the default indicator gives you the bearing and range from HOOK TO OWN which, if you just hooked yourself, should give you 000/000 J -press OSM 18 6x and you now have BULL TO CURS (Bullseye to TAD cursor indicator) and you have now a very quick way to look around to check where are those BULLSEYE locations. -you can even make mark points with the most important locations (threats, SAMs, etc) with TMS right short, and then, if you put your AAP dial to the MARK position, you will be able to see the markpoint icons in the TAD as well as steerpoints in the HUD. That can give a real boost to your SA. Hope this helps and is clear enough (without the nice annotated pictures of Warrior:smilewink:) JEFX

I tried again without moving my head and everything is where it should be... Thanks all for the help, I find these sounds quite immersing! Looking forward to 1.1.0.8!!!

OK here it is (the first few minutes of my atmospheric tarmac startup...), sounds track JEFX.trk I didnt start my Hog just be able to better listen to the sounds. Everthing seems fine : (everything happens rather on my right side) C-130 Takes-off KC-135 T-O Helos spool up Ground units roll in front of me Awacs T-O Finally , at 0504 and 10seconds, the first F-15 Takes off and lights his AB. If my head stays really straight, I hear a first boom on my left (???) and then the right sound on my right ??? That happened to me many times (especially if I move my head a bit)... Can it have something to do with Tir? thanks JF

I need to take some time to play it... will be back later with a track. JF

Here Poko and Peter, my little atmospheric ramp start. you can get it here: strike ammunition depot.miz It is a very simple mission and a quite easy one, but I made it in order to show some friends the beauty of the simulator.

Thanks Nate, It does enhance the outside bass frequencies. Love the effect of opening and closing the canopy to hear the sounds change! Thanks for sharing! By the way, am I wrong or I still hear one of the very first sound problems of LO : I look straight ahead, a Jet is taking of on the runway at my right and I hear it in my left speaker louder:( (and no!, my stereo is not reversed, I am a conductor and my first violins still sound on my left when I work on my music...;))??? Has 1.1.0.7. altered ground unit datalink (green crosses)?
JEFX replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
GG can you explain a bit more? What was NOT realistic and what IS now more realistic? Se all LOVE realism... JEFX -
Hey guys! I dont know if it was already enhaced this way in 1.1.0.6 since I jumped directly from release to 1.1.0.7 but I must say : wow! for the soundscape!!! I am a musician and it is one dimension of things that I cant help to witness. Knowing ED since the very first release of LOCKON (and everything they did since I bought religiously...), I must say that I was always a bit disapointed by the sound. Eventually, in Lockon, several people made some soundpacks that were much better. It got a bit better in BS and now in A-10C but I did find the general soundscape not up to the incredible level of details offered by the rest of the experience... I made a pretty complex airbase startup scenery with a lot of flights taking off, lots of ground units driving by, etc. for immersion fun. I made it at SENAKI in release candidate version a few weeks ago. I have been using this scenery as a good starting point for my personal mission making, so when I doe the detailed ramp start, there are lots of things happening. Well, last sunday, after installing a fresh 1.1.0.7, I fired up my ramp start mission and LO! the sounds were all so much better, and more subtle, more numerous, and more accurate! I could hear all the mecanical noises of the aircraft in the foreground, my own jets spooling up while I could hear in the distance, with a clear difference of level depending of how far they are : thanks moving around, helos coming and going, jets taking up and firing up their afterburners, prop enigne aircrafts (C-130s) disapearing in the distance, all with my canopy open. (that is not counting the fantastic new sound of the canopy electrical motor closing the lid on me) What an amazing simulation experience... I think that we are all here (crazy nerds studying a 800+ pages manual and tweaking systems, and all) for many reasons but one is paramount : IMMERSION! And I think the soundscape is a big part of immersion! Thank you ED. The last patch is amazing. And, on top of it, for me at least, it loads faster, it works flawlessly, I can now crank everything to Max and still have very good framerates, and it is totally beautiful! This simulator is a work of art! JEFX

If you ask your flight to go formation : finger four, they come pretty close. Best way I found to simulate what you are asking and that, indeed, would be nice to have.;) jefx

!!!Praise for the MODs!!! a totally new Lockon experience.
JEFX replied to JEFX's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks for the kind words... I must appologize for not upgrading this quite old thread... I made it a long time ago when we were all in the middle of the Lockon experience. Time has gone by and now, like many people here, I am totally immersed in A-10C and not looking at LOFC anymore. I am glad it helps but I am sorry that some of the stuff must not be valid any more (dead links???, etc.). JEFX -
Thanks, I got it! Very practical! Gives us a whole new bunch of commands available at our fingertips!

Hi! This is something I have been wanting to do, can you explain exactly how you do that? Is it in DCS or in TARGET and how? I would appreciate very much! thanks JEFX

How to install final version of DCS A-10 Warthog.
JEFX replied to vegachavez's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Great, my pleasure! JEFX -
I suggest recalibrating your throttle so that it goes really from 0 to max (if, by any chance, your throttle is badly calibrated and when you start your engine it is already up by a certain %, despite it being physically at the minimum, you may have problems). JEFX

How to install final version of DCS A-10 Warthog.
JEFX replied to vegachavez's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi! I once wrote a little guide, are you reffering to this by any chance ? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68334&highlight=jefx good luck! JEFX -
well well, all this doesnt seem very scientific...:music_whistling: The reason I didnt patch yet is to avoid tweaking everything again... Is it known if there is a file or two that we can just keep and copy-paste in the patched version ?? ex.: snapviews.lua? config.lua? And what is the file for the keys assignements? for the HOTAS assignements? thanks
-
well, I didnt know that... I always find that when something works great (and the RC works REALLy well on my system) I hesitate to change it... Patches often mean calibrating, changing things, opening up the config files, reassigning axis and buttons on the HOTAS, making new snapviews, etc... a pain, especially that I have little time to fly due to work... Do we need to reassign everything with the new patch? thanks JF

forgot to say : I am using the Release version (no patch yet). no mods. JEFX

I have tried a few times to access some MP servers and I always get a message : ''fail integrity check''... The only things that I havec changed in the config files are the following : IN config/view/view.lua line 126 ''cameraviewanglelimits'', I changed the second digit here to 175 in order to have my wider field of view with my TripleHead2Go and lines 49 and 50 both to FALSE in order to record my own snapviews also IN config/view/labels.lua I changed all labels to a single '' ' '' and I changed both colors so that they both appear grayish-black (that can help SA but not so much... sometimes to learn...) I think that this is all I changed and still I get this integrity check fail...:( ??? any ideas??? thanks in advance JEFX
