    :smilewink:I know Jojo... but it is perhaps not natural to all... as a pilot one gets used to juggling with cardinal directions in one's head... but back to the (off-) topic... you are right that when people speak (radio-TV) they tell the direction from which the wind is blowing (le vent du nord!) but when they do a diagram (windy.tv) the arrows point where it goes... funny. And you are right that this inversion in DCS is a pain in the a...

    By the way, I can feel a hint of an explanation: in day-to-day weather websites and newpaper weather... the wind is symbolized often with an arrow pointing IN the direction TO which the wind is blowing... (like in the screenshot of drPhibes). The greatest wind and weather website for everyday use (not good for aviation though) is WINDY.TV. If one puts the wind layer to see, there will be an animation that shows the wind moving from where it comes from To where it goes...(like little arrows) It looks very natural and intuitive, like if we visualize the wind itself... therefore, in a normal person's mind, it is more useful to understand the wind as going IN THIS direction, I agree... It is just not how it is given in aviation because in aviation we really want to know where it is blowing from in order to decide which runway or what direction for a specific manoeuvre, etc... A pilot is always translating wind direction and landing direction as opposite. The best paradox to overcome: (or Situational awareness to build) -the wind comes from the north 360 (therefore blowing TO the south 180) -you want to take off TOWARDS the direction of the north (runway 36) contrary to the wind -you need to taxi in the direction of the south (180) -You end up on the Southern end of the Runway -It is printed 36 on the runway but you are at the southern extremity -the wind is 360 but it blows To the south in your face -you take off TOWARDS the north, therefore 360 the wind is 360, you take off in the opposite direction... 360... HAHA!!

    I just did a quick research on aviation websites (including airlinepilotsforum and others) and it seems as if Russian METAR reports are no different than North American or European ones in terms of where the wind is coming from... the big difference is that it gives it in MPS and not in Knots and runway RVR are given in meters... Example, right now (latest report was 15 minutes ago) at 15:30 ZULU in Moscow UUEE, the wind reported in the metar was 24008MPS which means 'wind 240 at 8 meters per second' (around 16 knots). I did put it in a professional decoder (Foreflight) and indeed it is 'wind FROM 240 at 16 :-) I have no idea why in the first place ED started to put the wind reversed in 2004...

    By the way, talking about ILS, I just made a quick experiment (Vaziani, ILS 108,75 Mhz) with NO final waypoint and NO wind... I got an ILS guidance on both runway 32 and 14 (and no synthetic Runway, you are right Yoyo, I remember reading this in the manual). then I started again with a 5 m/s (about 10 knots) wind blowing from the north-west to the south-east, which would give us a preferred runway 32 and I still got an ILS signal on both runway directions...

    aviation wind direction I dont know, it might be a Russian thing but since the beginning (LOMAC, 2004) the wind in the sim shows the direction IN WHICH it is blowing... We got used to it... but it is contrary to all aviation weather (at least in the US/Canada and in Europe) where METAR and TAF reports as well as TOWER calls ALWAYS give you the direction FROM which the wind is blowing (I am a pilot, you can believe me)... If you are landing runway 06 and the tower tells you 'wind 150 at 15 gusting 20' !!!! ...your eyes dart instantaneously to your right (3 O'clock) to see that wind sock giving you that VERY strong crosswind COMING FROM the right (FROM 150 degrees), and it is not fun...

    Also, if you are making your own mission, you need to make a waypoint as LANDING waypoint in order to have ILS working for that particular airport...

  14. Hi Baltic Dragon and all the great team at Razbam I tried a couple of times before reporting but there seems to be a bug in mission 07 that is worth reporting here... I do everything as fragged until I turn around at waypoint 4 (back to waypoint 3 as prescribed by Berger). I receive the call from Artemis that we should contact HOTEL 5 on green radio channel 6, which I do (switch to channel 6 on green radio and use F10 menu to contact HOTEL 5) but from that point, I dont receive anything.:(.. after a dozen seconds, I hear my voice (player) say 'copies'... but I didnt hear (neither get a written transcript in the left upper corner of the screen as usual) from any body... I tried twice... same problem exactly at the same place... unless I am doing something really stupid, I think this is a bug... very unfortunate because I am having a lot of fun with this campaign!!!... any hope to see a correction for special download BD? thanks JEFX

MESSAGE FOR BALTIC DRAGON: is it normal that in the campaign folder, some missions have been updated to 11/27/2019 but some remained at some 2018 date? I have left those of 11/27 in the folder but for the older ones I have copied the files you offered for download a few days ago in the campaign folder (they date from 11/12-13-14-15)... are they going to work ok? or do you have a new set of missions from 11/27 that we can download please? thanks
  16. FUN challenge Hi all In the last couple of weeks I have been frustrated just like manu of you about the difficulty to find the ennemies on the radar and to keep them visible there... Of course, one could say that we have been spoiled with either 'magical' radars (Lockon or FC3 style) or just more accurate BUT much more modern: F18 and now F16... As some people mentioned here, the Mirage's radar is much older... Just made a quick experimental mission with F10 menu that spawns different enemy groups (hi, medium, low alt, far, close, hot, cold, flanking, etc...) and tried the radar settings more seriously... It is very cumbersome if one has to look down on the left side to find the switches (under the throttle) in order to try 1-2-4 bars, etc... I am sure in the real aircraft, pilots do this by feel just like we use our wipers or cruise control in our car:-) Then, I mapped 6 keys of my keyboard (close to my left hand) with 1-2-4 bar scan and 15-30-60 degrees azimuth scan! and I tried my mission again using these settings (together with the range + or - and the antenna elevation + or - that are already bound to my HOTAS) and it was great fun because actually it feels like hunting! I start wide and with 4 bars, far in front, and contacts appear briefly but like ghosts disappear as quickly... then, I switch quickly to 30 degrees azimuth scan in their direction, adjust the antenna range and go 2 bars scan or even 1 bar scan and I can keep them now and focus on them... really a lot of fun (and challenge!)... really like hunting!
  17. still buggy presets in green radio OK just downloaded the new campaign files and opened one in the mission editor and I can CONFIRM that they have the right radio frequencies for the briefed preset numbers BUT... when in the cockpit, the new GREEN RADIO is still off by one preset number... (the RED radio is fine). That means that in order to trigger the right voice overs, etc, we have to dial the preset numbers that are ordered by our lead or other assets, but then we need to manually edit the proper frequency in the green radio (without changing the preset though, I tried yesterday and couldnt hear the AWACS voice for example)... looking forward that RAZBAM fix this bug for immersion.   19. are the radio presets still broken in this version? (or wrong or changed)? Yesterday I tried to play mission 05 (old 2018 version) and because of the change in the radio, I used manual entry of frequencies, but some voiceovers didnt play (AWACS for ex.)...:-(

  22. MERDE!!! I am in M05 now and just when Chevy 1-1 says 'merde' because he has an hydraulic failure, my DCS does another CTD... merde... Hard to play, each mission does CTD at a point or another... will try again in a couple of days, lots of real life work ahead... will report...:(

I have a problem with mission 4, (RADAR): everytime I try it, after about 45 minutes into it (around the time I intercept the An-26 )my DVS CTD!!!! very frustrating because of all the time it takes to get back to that point! Sorry I didnt record a track... Perhaps it has something to do with the updates on the Mirage? I dont know... Great Campaign!!!!! very immersive! One suggestion, there is no frequency for the AWACS listed in the docs (Mirage Caucasus M04.pdf) ???
  25. Strange indeed that they dont put more priority to solve this issue and give us a save option either 1) where we want or at least 2) at certain key points as vhsousa said... You know, I am a professional musician and I have tought a lot of younger players and one of the KEY points of becoming a better instrumentalist (would be the same for high level athletes or... pilots...) is to convince one to practice over and over only the most important passages and NOT start the piece from scratch everytime one makes a mistake... the most basic notion of training...
