  1. Thanks pimp, exactly what we needed to understand how this function works for now...
  2. Anybody has any more pertinent info on that (promising) feature? For now it seems a bit useless? I ws thrilled when I saw the title... I thought we could make large groups of static objects that I thought we would be able to place wherever we want on the map... but for now this feature seems a bit limited? is planned to be different? devs? thanks!
  3. thanks for your answer sslechta. I didnt mean on the multiplayer platform but rather campaigns with a series of missions (like the SP campaigns) but playable for 2 people, for practicing... ??
  4. By the way, HiJack, if you dont mind me asking, I have a question about Multiplayer. I have played SP since LOMAC 2004! But multiplayer is fairly recent : are there good multiplayer campaigns (or collections of multiplayer missions) that I could play with my buddy? and how to host them ? where to look for these? (I am not talking about a live server but rather campaigns like Bear Trap or other but that I could play with my friend? thanks JF
  5. everyting is working great, thanks!!
  6. ok that is what I thought... Can I run both 2.5.0 and beta 2.5.1 on the same machine just for that purpose? are the missions compatible?
  7. Hi again and thanks for your patience... I did all what I consider necessary to host a server and open all the relevant ports and still, I just tried with my buddy and it didnt work... Question: He is on DCS open beta 2.5.1 and I am on DCS release 2.5.0 ... is it possible that this would be the reason for him not seeing my server? The funny thing is that his servers list in the multiplayer module is totally different than my server list in mine... ???? Thanks again for your help!
  8. Ok here is a bit of info that is interesting: after having configured to my best port forwarding for port 10308 for both FTP and UDP Protocols, both in Windows firewall, Norton antivirus AND my router, when I used portchecker.co it always said that my port 10308 was closed... I thought of something and tried: I fired up DCS , multiplayer, made a NEW NETWORK, started it, and then checked portchecker and LO! My port 10308 was OPEN!!!!! great.
  9. ok will check as well. I didnt touch it because it says that it is being managed by an external program (Norton antivirus)... but will check
  10. Hi HiJack Thanks for the help. I am sure I did what is necessary in the Router configuration to have the Port 10308 open (for both protocols) and I know that in my Norton Antivirus, DCS is expressly authorized... still, port checker says that 10308 is closed... any other idea? sorry to bother, I would like this to work so much!
  11. do you have a way to check if my thing is working and if I make a home made server it shows on the public list?
  12. Wow, thanks that is a very precise and detailed answer. I did make a static IP address for my gaming comp as explained and I did allow port 10308 in my ASUS router as explained... Now I dont have anybody to test it but will try later, thanks so much!
  13. Hi! I dont know if this is the right forum to ask this but I cannot setup a werver on my computer... I tried to make a simple mission with a few AC as clients and , in DCS multiplayer, I clicked NEW SERVER and made one with my new mission (which I tested on my side and it works fine, but friends cannot see it outside... I checked my IP with the website whatismyipaddress.com and it tells me it is static (a good start)... I checked and in DCS the server I try to make is giving the right IP address... I did specify the port 10308 in inbound in windows Firewall (as explained by BIGNEWY) but I suspect that between the actual windows firewall that is actually probably overridden by my Norton antivirus and my ASUS router, there might be something I dont know how to setup... can you help me? thanks!!
  14. Wow Bignewy You are quick and really to the point, thanks so much! I did rename the MissionEditor folder as mentionned in the link you gave me and it did the trick!!! Thanks so much! JEFX
  15. Hello I hope someone has an idea but I am stuck... I have been using DCS 2.5 (release) since its release and it was fine. Yesterday after playing a bit in multiplayer with a friend, it started to do this: I clic on DCS and the loading screen is there with the big DCS letters in the middle and it freezes at 55% EVERYTIME Itry... I imagine the logfile is useless in such a circumstance... Anybody has an idea?????? thanks for the help, this is really bad... DCS 2.5, Windows 10/64, PC, 3840X1024 TH2Go setup
  16. funny... I did spoof one (passed right behind) ... then another... but a third one hit me while I was trying to beam...
  17. Hi Baltic Dragon and thanks again for the great work! If it crashes again I will put the log files here. It didnt crash last time I tried. No I dont use any mods, just a wide resolution on TH2Go. Thanks for the advice I will try again... Definitely lost my fighting hand
  18. Hi guys, thanks for the quick response... I will when I get enough time with the computer later... but what I can remember was that before the crashes (or freezes I must say) I usually looked at the F10 Map in order to calculate Bullseye distance and bearing... I think that everytime I froze was after a switch to an outside view??? By the way, I havent flown fighters for a long long time (I did real flying in the recent years, but NO fighting in a Cessna :music_whistling: and I have tried twice now the second mission and I dont seem to be able to survive... I got killed both time, do you have an advice? Thanks. I tried again last night without changing the views and it remained stable until I got killed again...
  19. Hello I really like your immersive campaign but (at least for me) it is barely playable... I have DCS 2.5.0 with Windows 10/64 and I am playing with a resolution of 3840X1024 (THead2Go). I dont know what is going on but once every second try my DCS freezes in the middle of a mission and I have to start all over again. I cannot even get out of the freeze with Windows Task Manager... It happend in the first mission and twice in the second mission...:( Is this campaing fully tested in 2.5?? or perhaps I should wait? Just bought it to take advantage of the beauty of the new landscape... thanks JEFX
  20. Hi Sabre! long time! I was just thinking : are you planning to upgrade and release your wonderful F-15C training campaing for 2.5 now? I bet it would be the entry door to a lot of newcomers... I just made the experiment and if you prentend to know nothing about DCS and only have the (very basic) DCS manual and try to understand all about the F-15C (I am not talking about the A-10C and its great manual...) it can be very difficult for a newcomer... How to use the navigation modes, why on earth in the ME waypoints are starting at 0 and is the ILSN pointing to the IAF or the Runway (it did change in the last iterations... right?) all sorts of details that are simply not well documented and I bet that with a proper training campaing, a lot of people would start out DCS, wiht ist great free ME and theatre, with the F-15C... just a thought... cheers! 21. perhaps you are looking for THIS timetable?
  22. Sedenion, There is no shame in using some aids sometimes :-) I am with those who believe that the SA is so reduced on a computer monitor that sometimes a little help compensates... For myself, I have a HOTAS button for padlock and unpadlock and I use it very sparingly, just when I lose the bandit completely, and the minute I find him again, I unpadlock and continue unaided. I have been flying simulators since the original Falcon 4.0 days (which makes me older...) and I have gone through a lot of thinking about all this. Very often, the little dot of a target at some distance shows exactly the same as a little missing pixel of a tiny smudge on my computer monitor.. Therefore the need for a little tiny help here and there. Another reason sometimes to need some help is related to track IR. Understand me well, I couldnt live without it and it is one of the best thing that has come to our simulator's world, but it has one drawback when searching the sky for bandits : with track IR your head and eyes are somewhat fixed in one beam, you turn your head to search where in real life one moves the head and the eyes much more independantly. Add to this older (50') eyes with glasses, or only young eyes but with glasses and again you get one more level of view restriction... Because of all this, I think it is very appropriate to use sapringly the Padlock function. By the way, I like to tweek the labels in order to make the same sparing use sometimes (for all the same reasons) : I make all labels appeal as the smallest character possible : the apostrophe sign (') or the dot (.) and I edit all labels to be some grayish black (both sides). Therefore, again very sparingly, I can use to put the on for a bit and any bandit appears like a grayish black dot in the sky (friendly AND ennemy), just like in real life. It is up to the user to decide up to which distance it is realistic to do this and still feel natural. There are tons of threads FOR and CON these ideas, but this is my opinion... JEFX
  23. Same problem here!
