    Tracks!

Noticed I was having stable track playbacks in the Viper during A/G practice. Moved on to A/A weapons practice against some Mi-8’s and it’s a no-go there. It’s like the 8’s weren’t even part of the track, not a single correct playback. Big deviations were obvious usually in under a minute. Progress is progress though I guess.
  2. Huh. I’m familiar with marker beacons in real life, guess it should have dawned on me when I got the two different tones. That the light looks like it’s part of the FQSP definitely didn’t help. Thanks!
  3. Occasionally just after takeoff a green light and beeping sound will emanate from the Fuel Quantity Select Panel on the lower center console. Tonight I actually got two different audio tones, a high and a few seconds later a low tone. There’s nothing mentioned in the manual about this light and sounds, anyone know what they’re indicating?
  4. I’ve also noticed that the left wheel brake is weak or even totally non-functional. Thing is, it’s intermittent. On most flights both brakes function normally, but it’s happened to me maybe twice since the Viper was released that the left brake doesn’t work. I’ve checked for the usual culprits (binding conflicts etc.) but nothing is amiss. So far unable to find the cause.
  5. Personally I think both pitch and roll trims are currently too sensitive. That reminds me, where the heck are the trim position indicators? They’re mentioned in the tutorials but I can’t find them.
  6. Yep, the switch just below the speedbrake switch on my Warthog throttle was in the forward position causing missions to hot start in MRM mode. Thanks for the help!
  7. "Me stupid" is usually the right answer. ; ) I'll look again in the manual and Wags videos as soon as I get home.
  8. I personally find the canopy more of a "spicy mustard" or dirty yellow than gold. It may be missing some lighting effects or something to really sell it.
  9. When starting on the runway or in the air, HUD is already in A/A mode. I can't seem to get it to switch to NAV or even A/G modes, totally stuck in A/A despite any button pushes. Known bug? Me stupid?
  10. Re: Missiles. It isn't mentioned often in these forums but you can frequently hear the answer if you listen to outside developer interviews. ED has a commercial (non-consumer) arm that we aren't privy to, focused on manufacturer/government/military contracts. Each of those contracts are wrapped in reams of stipulations regarding what can and can not be released on the consumer side (DCS World). This is an oversimplified example, but even if there is a library of open source performance data available on, say, the AMMRAM, if the USAF believes that ED's consumer side edges too close to real world performance, ED is going to neuter that performance to maintain their business relationships. And because there are stacks of NDA's preventing ED from even acknowledging those relationships exist, we're stuck in the same missile purgatory we've been in for years. They literally aren't allowed to tell us why they haven't implemented any of the corrections in the thousands of pages of verified documents on missile guidance and performance the community has thrown their direction in the last decade. In short, it's the same thing preventing ED from simulating full fidelity Russian fighters. It's the same reason there are acknowledged procedural and performance discrepancies between the real and simulated A-10 and F-18. It's the same reason the M61 still has a spread worse than a sawed-off shotgun (when the fix is as easy as changing two digits in a config file). Simply, ED isn't allowed to make aspects of the sim too real. (This isn't just conspiracy theory. ED has hinted at this many times over the years, occasionally in these forums but it's most openly acknowledged in media interviews. I also used to work on military contracts for a major avionics manufacturer and saw similar situations on a near daily basis.)
  11. The results are really great!
  12. Haha, looks really fantastic! Are you using screenshots as templates and then painting over them?
  13. I hope not but you may be correct. I have Samsung SSD’s currently installed, would be pretty disappointing if they're failing already. Excellent suggestion. It bizarrely hadn’t occurred to me to undo my overclock. Elementary troubleshooting right there. Haha, well that explains a lot. I did mobo and cpu driver updates late 2018 with no trouble. I’ll see what’s available.
  14. EVGA SuperNOVA 850W. ASUS Maximus IX Hero mobo. Built the system July/Aug 2017. Started noticing some of the above issues summer 2018 and just haven't had any luck at all troubleshooting. I've always monitored loads and temps closely and there's no indication of a hardware or cooling issue either.
  15. Thanks for the suggestion Pilotasso. My USB selective suspend was in fact enabled. Unfortunately disabling it (and restarting computer) had no effect. Other symptoms that have been worsening: Hover info and right-click menus are clear or take a very long time to populate. The contents of files loads very slowly, "Working on it..." displayed sometimes for minutes. And most concerning, I can no longer access my BIOS (or whatever it's called now). During startup the mobo logo doesn't show up anymore and repeatedly pressing DEL or ESC keys has no effect, computer boots straight to Windows login. The good news is that none of this really affects my DCS performance. If I can get the Odyssey up and running then it's everything is normal within the sim. Again, any ideas on who I can contact to have a look at my system?
  16. My PC is not well and has been getting worse for over a year. It seems to correlate to major Windows 10 updates. With the most recent update Windows no longer auto-detects my Samsung Odyssey, I have to unplug the USB and plug it back in to get Windows MR and the Odyssey to start up. But this is just the most recent in a long list of worsening symptoms that I've been unable to successfully troubleshoot and mitigate. I guess my question is this: How do I get competent service for my PC, preferably someone to come to my home and go hands-on with my rig? Is there a widely trusted (US-based) organization that performs such a service? Drivers are updated semi-regularly and this computer is used only by myself almost exclusively for DCS. It has no exposure to questionable websites (other than this forum :smilewink:), scans come back clean and none of the problems point to infection that I can tell.
  17. Among the stories I've heard from people that've flown both, the F-16 has eye-watering acceleration and climb abilities, noticeably more powerful than a legacy hornet. But the hornet is a more capable weapons platform and of course has the safety of two engines, and the peace-of-mind that comes with that. This is a broad generalization though.
  18. Exactly  Agree. I don’t even fly red but the way things are now, yes, 100%, DCS absolutely needs full module 4th gen eastern aircraft.
  19. No probs. Keep up the great work!
  20. Used to do takeoffs and landings in the A-10C on the old carrier back in the day. Brutal headwind, no stores, and nearly empty fuel tanks were required but it was doable. And in anticipation for F-18 release last year I practiced up with carrier touch and go's in the F-5 (NOT easy). Simulators are fun.
  21. Wow, looks like I voted for the Raptor...like nine years ago. Since we actually have (or soon will have) everything realistically possible from this 12 y/o poll, I'm going to say it's time to bring the Eagle to full module status. ;)
  22. Left Ctl + Y Press once for indicated airspeed, a second time for true airspeed, third time to make it go away. Wash, rinse, repeat.
  23. Been going on since release: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=236797 And since nineline says carrier sliding is “fixed” and has a tendency to close threads that mention it too succinctly, https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234990&highlight=Deck+sliding an actual fix is probably a long way off. The best I could do to get consistent launches is keep relative wind speeds low:
  24. Hm, they’re straight up disappeared, no [Deleted Thread] or anything. And Vic hasn’t posted since May, I fear we ran him off. I was going to ask the same thing.
  25. Where did Victory205's essays/tutorials go? There used to be three or four of them stickied up top (and they were excellent).
