What am I supposed to see? Looked exactly the same to me.

Completely agree having also comes from the Warthog. Also went Warbrd base which made a huge difference to me personally in AAR

So, in the HMD you need to use the steam overlay to have any effect on the VR visuals. It's frankly a pain in the backside,
-
I think that may be in breach of the Reshade license. Tbh easiest way to do it is install to your DCS directory using the installer, lift the dxgi.dll then uninstall. Have you tried that method? Sent from my LE2120 using Tapatalk

Odd, you can try as @speed-of-heat suggested, something may have got itself in a twist. So an uninstall reinstall, then copy the DLL out to you modmanager. And uninstall again (if you're using a MOD manager) FYI, this is the size and date stamp of the working 5.0.2 DLL for me

When you say "not working" can you get the menu up in VR. I couldn't with 5.0.2. Or do you mean there is no effect applied at all? Sent from my LE2120 using Tapatalk

I agree. I was more interested in the FXAA etc. Am trying to fiddle but the whole "have to use the steamvr overlay" to access the menu is complete pain in the proverbial. So as an update had a quick play using this shader in place of VR_CAS and I was expecting to see more of a difference than I did, in all honesty I saw no noticeable improvement visually over using Reshade with VR_CAS (I am still using VRperfkit with NIS scaling - no sharpening). However, one thing it did reveal is that for me at least, the 5.0.2 version of the Reshade DLL does not appear to register the Reshade UI in the Steam Overlay, so there is no way to adjust the config in game. Using the 5.0 version of the DLL allowed me to access the Steam overlay again. No idea if it's a bug, but it's odd for sure. To save anyone who wants to try the faff of attempting to do the config via the overlay here is my ini file that uses solely VRToolkit. VRTEST.ini And here is a link to the site which also includes default mask size settings for various HMD's (yes mine is too small for my G2 in the attached ini, but I was solely looking for a "shimmer killer") https://vrtoolkit.retrolux.de/configuration.html

I did notice that, actually. I'm pretty sure it is not the same as VRperftoolkit although looking at VRToolkit.fx it may be worth playing with. It may be an alternative to the VRCAS shader that appears to be much older than the rest of the shaders date wise. And more importantly also appears to offer FXAA and some "smoothing". May well be worth fiddling with in fairness. It mentions "reduced shimmering" if it works then that feature alone would make it useful!!

You can "cheat". Create an empty directory. Add a txt file and rename it to .exe. When you run the Reshade installer, point it to said directory and "fake" exe, and then lift the resultant dxgi.dll from there.

Not sure if anyone else has tried it as yet but just tried Reshade 5.0.2, after running 5.0 for a while (I skipped the 5.0.1 release) and I'm seeing circa .5 - .75ms decrease in GPU frame time. I quite literally copied the new DLL into a copy of my existing Reshade 5.0 config so that's the only change. Caveat, that I only tested this sitting on the ramp in the Hornet Instant action "ready on the ramp" mission. Whilst not exhaustive by any stretch of the imagination, it is still alike for like comparison. I can simply enable and disable the 5.0 and 5.0.2 versions via OvGME to compare. Nothing in the changelog to suggest any kind of changes that might create the slight performance increase, however I did notice that the DLL is smaller so perhaps some path optimisations?
-
Likewise, and occasionally DDU if it all goes wrong. Have to re-enable rebar in inspector even with express but I'm not convinced it has any perceivable benefit anyway. Sent from my LE2120 using Tapatalk

You're welcome. In regard to "shimmering" A and B for me personally. I see no noticeable additional shimmer as a result of upscaling unless you go crazy with the "sharpening" in either Reshade or Vrperfkit. MSAA x4 helps a lot but kills frame time even on a good system. As for D well, no comment, that's in the same bag as "when the rendering engine is fixed for aliasing in VR" you can reduce it by setting clouds to High or Ultra, but it's still present. I’ve grown used to it, but it's far from acceptable, in VR at least. And frankly in comparison to the clouds doing a pogo in the initial release, they're a 100% better than they were. Not bitching, just stating blindingly obvious facts. An as an aside, ignore all the posts that say AA settings in NVCPL affect VR, I’ve never ever see any difference, and based on the fact it's a deferred rendering engine I wouldn't expect to.

It does seem far more complex than it is, mainly due to the fact that the majority of the threads are long and sometimes polluted (not with intent, just the way these conversations evolve). However, I would thoroughly recommand @speed-of-heat post here if you haven't already read it, read his OP that he regularly updates as things change. There is no need to compile anything unless that's your thing. You can simply utilise the dkxgi.dll included in the mod as is. In terms of what I am using currently, I am more than happy with the performance and visual acuity I get with the following (shimmering aside, but that isn't getting fixed anytime soon, at least until the render engine is rewritten for VR and the aliasing issues resolved): Vrperfkit (if you want to use this in conjunction with Reshade you need to rename a dll as they both use dxgi.dll so rename one of them to d3d11.dll) Taz DCS VR Shaders mod for 2.7.9.17830 Reshade 5.0 I use a bunch of others, but these are the main GFX and performance affecting ones. The complete list is below.

I suspect that the gateway device that is connecting your Desktop PC network to the network that the DCS server is on is performing HIDE NAT, so in effect your desktop PC appears to have a source IP of the locally attached egress interface of the router that connects both subnets. So that explains that behaviour, and should work fine still. But I can see you’ve got the issue resolved with an update

Not noticeable on the 2D mirror....
-
Yes, it's one of the major changes.
-
Thanks for looking. Hmm OK, it didn't seem to work for me (VR) will try again and revert.
-
I wish I could say the same, even with 2xMSAA, MFAA enabled in nvcpl the shimmer is pretty awful frankly. Jump into the Hornet instant action, ready on the ramp and take a look at the parked Hornet to your right. The undercarriage, and all the model edges are aliased awfully and shimmer. It's made somewhat worse by the lighting due to time of day on fairness, but it's pretty horrific.

Reshade 6.0 gets native support for OpenXr

Ah right, didn't realise that. Thanks for clarifying. -

Understood, thank you. So you're not doing any sharpening in vrpperftoolkit? (Sharpness 0.0) -

Will have to give this combo a try, i.e Reshade for colour enhancement only and vrpeftoolkit for upscaling and sharpening. Are you still using 0.2 for sharpening, and method CAS? @speed-of-heat
