Most modern reconnaissance aircraft possible?
Bimbac replied to Tom Kazansky's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Technically speaking, any aircraft equipped with TGP, Air-to-ground radar and ELINT capable EWS should be able to perform the reconnaissance duties. There are some dedicated platforms, but having a player-controlled multi-role or swing-role aircraft would be much more interesting. The fundamental parts for it are already present in DCS, so just a proper information transfer and processing should do. Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk -
That's true, but it was developed during 2006-2008. Things had been a little different then. Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

There's a public line to Kremlin, try it :D Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

Say this to Russian president and the Parliament to lower the security, then it will be possible. ;) Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

Yes! +1 Anyway, more tools like the clipboard history, better graphical and text functionality would be really welcome! Unit and group selection too, of course! Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

It's not yet implemented for the Hornet, but you can join a server with human players acting as AWACS or GCI, they will do this for you. Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

Hello! First of all, you are mixing two entirely different systems. IFF essentially tells you if the contact is friendly or not (unknown). NCTR will show you the Type, i.e., Fighter, Bomber, Transport, and if there's more time to evaluate, the exact aircraft type, like MiG-29 - on the other hand, it cannot tell you the allegiance of the contact. In the real world, there's something called Commit Criteria. It tells you how to classify the contact based on, for example, the Country of Origin, speed, altitude, and many other things. When you put them into the equation, the result would say if you are supposed to engage that particular contact or not. If in doubt, ask the AWACS or GCI for declaration. Pilots do not decide this; it's always up to the C2 (Command and Contol) authority.

Sorry for asking, but why? When you see and can visual ID the target, why would you need the NCTR?

My thoughts exactly, Sir! People just don't realize what it takes to fly and fight in a high-performance jet fighter, and that just a small percentage of the healthy population can do it. Pilot training takes years! That's just the way it is. Personally, having some real-world experience, I would prefer the DCS to be even little harder :D Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

Respawned group deactivation script help
Bimbac replied to Bimbac's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Thanks, Grimes! I have tested the script you used in the demo mission, but I had to modify it for my mission. I use this condition: if Group.getByName('M29C') then Group.getByName('M29C'):destroy() endMy question is, can the script (or the trigger action) have multiple conditions or just one? When I set a separate trigger for each group, it works. I'll try to describe what result I want to get in pseudocode: If selected friendly units leave the training zone, then all AI fighter groups deactivate. (This is a safety measure for new pilots if they get overwhelmed) If any member of any AI fighter group leaves the training zone, then all AI fighter groups deactivate. (This is a safety measure for other friendly units in the area not to get engaged by the rogue AI fighter) How do I properly set the trigger that when the AI group is destroyed, a message shows to the units within the training zone? -
Respawned group deactivation script help
Bimbac replied to Bimbac's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Thanks for your help. I have tried two consecutive respawns of the first group (in the same session), and the group gets respawned by its original name. As I stated before, I use the same original script for the SAM units, and it works without any problems. Check the screenshots. The blurred lines report various events in the mission and are irrelevant to the issue. -
Respawned group deactivation script help

Hello everyone! I'm asking all the mission scripting community for help because I'm getting quite desperate. Here's the question: I have several groups of enemy AI fighters as training targets to be spawned (by MIST group.Respawn function) on user's command via the F10 menu. The group respawns without any problem, but here is the catch. When all friendly players leave the training zone or if the AI fighters stray away from the training zone, the AI groups should deactivate, but no matter what I try, they don't. I'm using the following script in Do Script trigger action: if Group.getByName('M29C') then trigger.action.deactivateGroup(Group.getByName('M29C')) endI'm also using the same script for the SAM units in the other training zone, and it works perfectly. Is there a problem with the sim not detecting the respawned fighter groups in the training zone or when they leave it? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I think that you guys do not understand one thing: If you want your cockpit not to be in order means you imply your crew chiefs not doing their work properly because it is THEIR responsibility to visually check the cockpit after each flight and get everything in the default state. Remember, it's the crew chief who owns the plane - the pilot is merely borrowing it! [emoji6] Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk

It's a point of view and state of mind. LotATC is meant for the virtual pilots who willingly accept the most realistic way to embrace DCS as a simulator. If the others consider it to be just a computer game, they would not use LotATC at all, so I wouldn't worry. Sent via mobile phone using Tapatalk
