  1. Thanks so much! I have been itching for a way to make the ministick an axis for a while now. Rep inbound!
  2. They're handy for verifying that you do indeed have a bad-ass m'fin gaming rig.
  3. I'm not an expert, so take this with a grain of salt, but to the best of my knowledge... At least in the days of Falcon 4, most of the RWR symbols were classified, because the information given by the symbols could give foreign nations insight into how advanced our signal processing was; namely, the RWR was capable of revealing more information about enemy radars than we cared for our enemies to know. So, if I am not mistaken, the symbols used in Falcon 4 may be stand-ins for the actual RWR. And so I don't think it's going to be helpful to use a Falcon 4 RWR guide as a starting point for decoding the Hawg's RWR symbols. The same may hold true for the tones.
  4. Every time someone asks they delay it a week.
  5. Just check the CDU (or the CDU repeater format on the MFD); the top-left line is always the current page. "STRINFO" for steerpoint mode, "POSINFO" for position mode, "WP INFO" for waypoint mode, and anything else for the other mode.
  6. The manual, section HOTAS throttle commands, has your answer. Forward - default exterior lights on Center - exterior lights as configured on the panel Aft - all exterior lights off.
  7. Moving your head forward is not the same as zooming.
  8. Already a topic on this sim! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60132&
  9. Tried checking the Thrustmaster software? The manual says the LEDs are programmable.
  10. It's been mentioned before, but the correct translation of the "INU - UPDATE" switch on the PVI Aux panel is actually "I-251V - FLY-OVER" (original Russian: "И-251В - ПРОЛ")
  11. Just do what I do in real life -- toggle the squelch to verify that the radio is powered on and receiving.
  12. Well, there's a VERY good reason why a military might want an F-16 transition trainer even though there are plenty of -Ds out there. Expensive: Cheap:
  13. Beg and plead all you want ... won't do any good. You'll get DCS: <fighter jet> when a military contractor wants a transition trainer for their fighter pilots.
  14. That explains the minor discrepancies between DCS: Warthog and the real thing. :P
  15. Suggestion: Gmail. :)
  16. I've gotten it in betas 2 and 3. And I have a Radeon HD 5870 so it's not just nVidia.
  17. Didn't get any help in my thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60581
  18. My game locks up when playing Midnight Train to Georgia, about 2 or 3 minutes after passing steer 2 on the way to steer 3. Sounds continue, but the video freezes and the game is non-responsive. I've tried cleaning my precompiled effects. Anyone else get this?
  19. When ED does a DCS module they spend months and months researching every minute detail of the aircraft they are modeling. Given that they are at beta 3 and at most 2 months away from release, I strongly doubt they're willing to put in the effort to "throw in" another aircraft. Plus, it wouldn't make sense ... "DCS: A-10C Warthog (also includes the Su-25!)" My advice is to wipe away those tears and learn to fly the Black Shark :P
  20. So way back when I was getting my pilot's license, for the night portion, my instructor explained I should always carry onboard a white flashlight for emergencies and a red flashlight for normal use, to preserve my night vision. Now I see both the Black Shark and the Warthog use this sickly blue-green color for their night or NVIS-compatible lighting. Has there been a study recently that showed turquoise protects your night vision better than red?
  21. When you have the cockpit flood lights on and the canopy open, you get less flood light than with the canopy closed, because half of the flood lights are mounted on the canopy rim.
  22. The mask position is actually "test mask"; it provides positive pressure to your regulator so you can check for mask leaks (in real life). Oxygen ALWAYS comes to your mask; the cockpit is unpressurized.
  23. If your weapons mode is set to AUTO then it won't fire the gun unless the reticle is inside the box and within 4 km of your helicopter. Switch the weapon mode to MAN to see if that's the problem. And as the previous poster said, make sure you are pressing the button bound to the cannon trigger.
  24. There's nothing complex about the love for a DC, Geskes. Having a dynamic campaign means it's easy to fly a mission I've never flown before, in a tactical and strategic environment I've never experienced before. You don't need a mission designer or a "World Master." All you need is a guy with a campaign who can host a flight. Also, there's something more "real" about flying in a battlefield that has a true fog of war. If I beat a DCS campaign and I want to fly it again, I'm going to know that there's an SA-8 hidden behind that hill, or that the tanks are actually 2 klicks south of the steerpoint, or whatever. If I start a new Falcon campaign everything is new again. P.S. If you take off in your F-16 and see a wall of MiGs, don't treat it as a shortcoming of the game engine! Do what they do in real life! Turn around, land your jet, and create a new sweep package to take care of the threat! THAT'S the beauty of a dynamic campaign. P.P.S. No need to pick a flight over flight models. Falcon's FM was written back when a Pentium II was the "bees' knees" (as they said back then), so it's not really a fair fight anyway. We are merely discussing the merits of a dynamic campaign; we are not trying to say which game is more realistic. P.P.P.S. ACTUALLY the original point of the thread was how to ramp in DCS, but hey, major threadjacking.
