No one escapes in front of the Russian aircraft
winchesterdelta1 replied to Ragnarok's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Isn't a exploit deliberately using game glitches to your advantage? If those glitches happen to be game mechanics i thought to be as close to RL as this simulator can simulate with still some work to be done on it, i'm guilty. I was deliberately trying to not get killed in a chaotic PvP environment with broken game mechanic. What i did not do is research "How to exploit in DCS". I just played the game and i figured out by myself and by others what did and did not work. And it happened to be the so called "exploits". And even if those mechanics where improved we would still need a bigger map a persistent server and a way to plan flights in game to be able to fly realistically. Cause i'm not going to play a "realistic" pre-planned 4 hour BVR game with no meaning at all when the mission rotates after several hours. How the simulator is now is the nature of the game. You can reduce it.. But that means flying with only friends on a closed server. Just play it like it is and wait for the day most things are fixed and we can have some good more "realistic" battles on public MP servers. All the tactics and so called "exploits" we use can be defeated anyway by simply being smarter and having more experience. -

I did not say it did not like high alpha targets. On the contrary in a different topic i say they do. Would be nice to know what he say's about chaff tactics. Thank you for asking. -

But now do it without spamming chaff(considered a exploit in this topic. But not IMO). How should it be? How do real life pilots do it. Do they spam it? Or is it all calculated and carefully dispensed on the right moments? -

Losing your energy is not a reliable tactic. It's just a last ditch maneuver to stay alive. Most of the time it gets you killed against a decent pilot. He just puts another missile on you or even better a Sparrow. It likes slow targets but is easily spoofed by chaff and by abruptly changing directions (exploit if i follow this topics logic). But i still get a lot of kills with this bad performing easily spoofed missile. You just have to wait for the right moment. -

winchesterdelta1 replied to Ragnarok's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Tell me. How to chaff realistically? What intervals? What aspect should i have? How many? I only chaff because i heard/read it defeats missiles. But nobody ever thought me how to tactically dispense chaff. And i did a search for it but still have no clue. I always spammed chaff in any flying game. Because it works and because i'm ignorant on how to use it normally how RL pilots do it. And i even dispense chaff against AIM-120c in this game while i know it's barely effective against it. It's habit. Maybe we should learn people how to dispense chaff first effectively without spamming it before calling it a exploit. But this is probably a futile exercise now the chaff is bugged... or at least the missiles being to sensitive for the chaff. So i go back to spamming the chaff until this is fixed and i know how to tactically dispense chaff like RL pilots. -

Fixing the chaff flare issue would be nice. But even without chaff and flare i get the same results. Multiple times a day i defeat a ton of missiles by just maneuvering, doing high G turns and things. Without even using the hills for cover. But yesterday those ER's where pretty freaking deadly. I could not defeat one of them even when fired from 20KM... But that might have been the Vodka. I know.. drinking Vodka while flying is not realistic. I'm sorry. But sometimes drinking vodka while flying can be a exploit. -

winchesterdelta1 replied to Ragnarok's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
What is the exploit? Flying with radar off and try to find your targets visual? Especially looking for missile trails? Isn't that a valid normal tactic? Or is the exploit to keep beaming into the missile on high speed because you know the ER's are super crap and they going to miss anyway. If it's the last i do agree it seems like a exploit. And i do use it as well. But did i know it is a exploit? No i don't... and not long ago i did not have any clue on what real tactics are for every situation or how the missiles should behave in real life. So i'm just playing with what the game has given me. Most of us are no fighter pilots or have knowledge on how the missile should behave and have detailed knowledge on how real life pilots defeat missiles so they have no clue what is exploit or not. They just figured out you can defeat x missile with x maneuver. The only thing to blame here is the missile behavior.. But we have post full with that discussion. And we all agree ER's suck. -

Can no longer enter DCS FC3 planes
winchesterdelta1 replied to Aethyrion's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Go to C:\Users\username\Saved Games Copy that DCS folder in there and save it somewhere save and delete it. Or simply rename it. to DCS backup or something. -
If i do use ECM i mostly use ECM to mask my buddy's position. To make it harder for them to lock them. So they will be occupied trying to lock that guy in the ECM strobe. For the rest i barely use it.

Air combat will always be broken. First of all we will never get a 100% simulator. And second you fly with people online that are not fighter pilots. We just have to fight with the things we do have. So if you stick with the SU-25 for that reason you will probably stay there forever. Even if the game was 100% simulation players will find a way to go around it cause they can not die in real life playing this game. You will never get real life tactics. But you can get close to it when flying in a squadron/clan. But you can improve and force a bit of real life tactics by making objective kind of PvP missions or with a PvP (inlcuding AI) dynamic campaign. And better missiles will help as well.

There is something wrong with operation bison... It lags a lot. And it often crashes. Today we played it 3 times with no success. It never took longer than 45 minutes. -
Learning the F15c - but looking for help
winchesterdelta1 replied to jaznit's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Q quick little guidance from me just to start with. (Multiplayer) 1. Try to get a good radar picture of what is happening. Try to remember approx where the friendly's and enemy's are. For beginners flya round angels 21 to 25. Don't try to fly in contrails. 2. When you find somebody to engage lock them up in TWS 1 or multiple bandits. 3. Start cranking. preferable crank the bandits in the direction where the most friendly's are. If you notice he cranks you as well. Crank him the opposite direction. If he corrects to keep you in his gimbal limits you know he is coming for you (Cranking = Put the locked contacts in your radar gimbal limits.Left or right). 4. Try to get a speed Mach 1.1 or higher. At around 14 miles start to turn into the bandits from the crank and nose down to get speed if needed. At this point his missile is already underway. If you already had a missile underway you need to do this very very fast. 5. When you release your missile crank back.. or depending on the situation crank the opposite direction you started from. Also remember the heading of the bandit. If your missile go's pitbull do a really sharp slice back on high speed as hard as you can without G locking. And run away low. Defend as needed against incoming missiles but while defending dont try to lose to much speed. Burt also do some high G evasive maneuvers otherwise the missile will still reach you. 6. When defending try to hide behind the first big or large mountain/hill you see. Always try to run towards friendly's that can support you. If you have really good speed you can after a while start climbing. But not to steep. 7. When you extend call out the heading where you extending towards to your friendly's. Pointers: * Download TS3: https://www.teamspeak.com/teamspeak3 * Join the Team Speak of the server you play on. And ask 1 or two other guy's if they want to answer your questions. If needed in a separate channel. * Use noobs as bait. * Shadow other friendly's. * If you see a friendly extending (running) scan behind him. he might need some help. And mostly those bandits following that friendly are easy targets. (Not me. I probably still attack you while firing a last missile on the running guy). * SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED * For best success fir AIM-120C within 10 miles when he is not running. * Sometimes be patient with your shot. So that bandit clears the mountain ridge so he can not hide behind it anymore. Or when firing AIM-9 wait till he stops flaring. i noticed most people start firing AIM-9 when you start flaring. Like they are suddenly reminded they have IR missiles. * Be aggresisve but no to aggressive. Know when to run and when to stay. Be prepared for everything so keep an eye out of the cockpit. But don't be to careful. being to careful kills you quicker than being to aggressive. At least in my experience. * When fighting SU-27's watch your afterburners and military speed. On idle they can not fire ET's from over 10 miles. ET's are easy to avoid if you expect them.... ALWAY'S EXPECT THEM. And drop pre-emptive flares when you are not sure if he launched ET or not. Defend against ET's by high speed turns with flares and minimum throttle. Or a stupid barrel roll with flares (pull some G's) and some hard breaks left right. * Try not to get into a WVR fight with FUEL TANKS unless you know what you are doing. Always drop them in dogfights. * Carry at least 1 AIM-7 so you can fire into a furball without accidentally hitting a friendly. And to use it as a sidwinder only less fats of the rails. But longer range and good against targets that are defeating AIM-120C's with high alpha maneuvering. Last: Always try to fight your own fight when you flying with 2 or more friendly's. I noticed that flying with friendly's can make you careless and not paying attention. Unless you fight with somebody that knows how to fight in pairs. (That are not much. Including me). The above is some starting info... There is way more to it that others can explain you in detail in this topic. But it should give you some survival chance in MP. Enjoy your flight man... Prepare for a lot of frustration. But also for fights that make your adrenaline rush trough your body and leave you with your hands shaking after the fight. I will be waiting for you... And we have no merci. But dont worry... I'm make way to much stupid mistakes and i am way to aggressive. -
Can no longer enter DCS FC3 planes
winchesterdelta1 replied to Aethyrion's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I seriously don't know how to help here.. Maybe uninstall DCS. Delete the DCS profiles and such and re-install from STEAM. Or maybe go for the Non Stream version. -
You dont need to spam the other engine's startup. Just wait till the needle of the first engine you spool starts to move. And then turn on the other engine.
-
I'm not even playing it now because of this reason. And because the radar does not work correctly yet. No more beta pre-orders for me. But don't get me wrong. I like this module a lot and it fly's like a dream and when those features are added and fixed i will play it again. Just hoped this would have been fixed already.
-
Yes there is a little delay in the updates of the targets. So with some practice you can lock 4 bandits in really close formation. Sometimes you need to go a little bit left or right (change aspect) to let them delay the other way if you know what i mean.
-
F-15 also shows M2 on RWR.
-
I have wheel brakes W configured on my joystick. First two landings i also skit of the runway.. But it just required some practice. Don't Hold the brakes to long and when you feel that it's going to skit release the brakes and make only slight adjustments with rudder. And don't brake above 100.
-
Seriously. You have any troubleshooting skills? You dont go overnight from 50/60 FPS to 9 and than blame the video card. Unless it broke down some how. But it did not. And the computer on lower specs has run DCS better than this before the latest two beta patches. If you read my post correctly you can clearly see it's the patch causing this. Even people on higher end systems have massive FPS drops.
-
Both of these things happen when the targets are jamming.
-
After the second last beta patch i lost almost all my performance gain on high texture settings. Especially at the airports my FPS dropped to 9 and even 3fps from 55fps i had before that patch. If i'm airborne and leave the airport the FPS go's up to 30 /40. I can fight several planes normally. But at the moment there are around 8 planes and more in the area my FPS drops again suddenly to 3 and can will stay there from around 10 seconds to 1 or two minutes. At that point the TWS bug appears. If i lock more than one plane in TWS the FPS drops to 3fps again like on the airfield. But a lot of times the TWS bug does not appear. But it can appear or not appear in those circumstances multiple times per sortie. After i changed the textures to low all the issue's are almost gone and the TWS bug does not appear anymore. But i do still have FPS drops at the airfield. Not as severe but they can range from 15fps to 20fps. But most of the time that fixes itself quickly. Especially on some parts of the airfield. But those parts differ every time. Some other pointers: - Single player FPS is drops also to 3 on the airfields on high textures. When in the air it's good again. - Sometimes the FPS does not drop that severely on the airfields or when in busy sky's (still drops 10 to 15fps. - I have it with every plane (not the TWS bug) - I never had this on 1.2 when i only had 4gb of RAM. - FPS was great with the first patches on 1.5. Even on 4gb RAM. - Low settings on medium terrain and objects settings give me steady playable FPS with almost no stutters. But never as good as before this all started. If one of the texture settings is on high this all happens. And my textures where on very high after the first couple 1.5 updates and patches. And on high when i still had 4GB of RAM. - FPS drops in 10 vs 10 furballs drastically as well, on flat terrain with no buildings and no other ground clutter. - (I forgot something else important... If i remember it again i will ad it tho this post) System specs: * Geforce GTX 650 1GB RAM * Intel Core i7 860 " 2.80Ghz \ 4 cores, 4 logical cores * DDR3-1333 12 GB internal RAM. * Resolution 1920 x 1080, 60Hz * Kingston SV300 ATA 250gb SSD * NVIDIA game ready driver 359.06 * OS: Windows 7 64 Enterprise N

It seems it's not possible to crank without losing the radar lock. I don't know if this is supposed to be. Or a bug of some kind.
