  1. It's real hard to tell what's going on with the tracks all clustered like that with that range setting, but it looks like one was decoyed by chaff, and 2 or 3 tracks went into extrapolation, such that the missiles never got the active signal.
  2. The missile isn't garbage. It has an envelope, and within that envelope it is effective and can do things that no other missile in the game can currently do. Outside of that envelope, it suffers rather drastically. The challenge for you as a pilot is to understand the extent of the envelope, and shape the engagement such that you can utilize the AIM-54 within it.
  3. This is a known bug, we haven't received any word from HB on a time frame for when it will be fixed though.
  4. Did you arm your ejection seat?
  5. The AIM-54 works as well, the computer is just very optimistic about TUOR
  6. How do you know the missile is in free fall? Can you confirm that whatever guidance algorithm controls it isn't still commanding it to fly a certain parameter (maintaining, aoa, G, etc.) even after it is decoyed?
  7. Sorry, misunderstanding. I meant that if a ship is foundering in it's sinking animation, ideally it would have less of an RCS and be less attractive to incoming radar guided antishipping missiles. No bug, just a suggestion for the future.
  8. That is to my knowledge is purely a DCS-ism. If the extrapolated tracks position deviates too far from the actual position of the in-game object that is being targeted, the missile won't go active. I *think* this is because criteria for whether a missile goes active or not in the old missile API is if it reaches a distance from the in-game object that is being targeted. In reality the precise criteria for when and how it goes active varies depending on which variant of AIM-54 and what tape the F-14 is on, but it should receive the active command from the radar even if extrapolated at the calculated time. ED recently added the capability for a missile to guide purely on a position rather than on purely on an object for the AIM-120 on the new API, so ideally whenever they disseminate this scheme to the third party devs, HB will be able to improve this.
  9. Hostile Ambiguous Friendly Unknown Ambiguous isn't really a thing in the F-14. The MLC region blindspot +/- 133 knots centered on your own ground speed. The Zero Doppler Filter is +/- 100 knots centered on your own negative groundspeed. Manipulating the doppler filter via the aspect switch won't have any effect on the MLC blindspot, which is always centered around own groundspeed, it merely changes the range of closure rates the radar will consider.
  10. It's what the TID symbols are telling you.
  11. You have an F-14... That it's an F-14. Imagine flying an aircraft because you like the aircraft and want to see it represented accurately as opposed to satisfy the current air quake meta of the quarter. I shudder to think... If only the F-14 carried some other missile, one that was medium ranged and performs better at medium to low altitude with comparable range to a fox 1 from a flanker or mirage. Oh well, a shame they didn't think of that.
  12. This isn't enough information to diagnose the problem. What radar mode were you in? How were you asking jester to lock the target? STT ahead? STT Friendly? Hostile? STT specific contact? STT TWS Contact #?
  13. The hook up zone for Cat #3 is about 10 feet behind where it should be. Cat #4 is alright.
  14. That's not a TCS, it's an IRST. It could, on a sunny day, positively detect the sun (about 60% of the time).
  15. Well it's not going to go active when shot PD-STT, so theoretically the reacquire percentage is going to be ~0%
  16. I'm curious why your first missile went dumb off the rail, and your second missile guided on what I would assume would/should have been the first priority target.
  17. Did your TID show either of the tracks as extrapolated?
  18. How did they miss? Did they run out of speed? Did they go stupid? Did they make a massive out of plane maneuver after the target turned through the notch?
  19. I realized the time it would take to refute half these points could be better spent making coffee. I will say that if your friend cares that much and is that certain, HB are always looking for more SMEs.
  20. In the interim, momentarily pressing PLM for any contact not on your ADL within 5 miles will effectively accomplish both tasks.
  21. http://media.heatblur.se/AIM-54.pdf It didn't match the numbers in the white paper based off NASA test shots before the patch. Now it more closely matches the numbers in the white paper. I do look forward to the .338 Lapua derived AIM-54 kinematics report.
  22. Meanwhile, in the Slayersphere... Tacview-20220131-215439-DCS.zip.acmi
  23. Super Hero Tomcat? Sir I am a *connoisseur*, I desire nothing short of the Turbokat. Failing that I guess I could settle for something as gauche as a Veritech
  24. Riiiiiiight. You know, we don't see this kind of drama in threads praising the explicit superiority of the F-111. Just Sayin'
  25. You've lost me.
