  1. Yes, the producers notes. Although some other searchs on youtube will show videos of other people flying DCS:BS so you can learn from those to.
  2. Don't give up. I have full sim pit with all the controls like a real heli and it still was over 4 weeks of flying, countless hours of reading and watching training vids before I even got a round fired off from the cannon. Steep learning curve is very steep
  3. yes very true, I made a typo there. I have rewritten the instruction, the fixed mistake is in bold font. Thank you. Yes, very much so. So easy it's criminal.
  4. Perhapse I didn't explain myself very well. Also I may have been CLEARing targets before I jumped to the next one which might have made it work. Not been able to replicate what I did. So I'll rephrase... What is the fastest was to auto-slew to the next target in the abris after you have just locked up and destroyed the first one? edit.. ah.. i've figured it out, just gimme some time to write up the instruction. Say for example you have mutiple DLINK Target set in your ABRIS and you want to fire on each one and change quickly between them. First Target: 1. Select next [DLINK Target#] and set DL/ingress ON 2. Uncage shkval button 'o' (auto-slew occurs) 3. You may lock target with Laser range on (TA) 4. Fire at target with missle or Cannon Second Target: 5. Re-set DL/ingress to OFF 6. Use either one of a,b or c as follows (6a) reset laser off/standby or (6b) return shkval to scan mode (press 'o' to unlock TA, slew shkval a bit, then hit 'o' again, shkval goes to scan mode) or (6c) re-cage shkval (backspace) 7. Select new target starting at by point 1. This thing I just figured out was that putting the shkval into scan mode allowed me to slect a new target.
  5. something been bugging me with this. Once I had multiple targets saved and I proceeded to take out each one. I auto-slewed the shkval to the first target by 1. selecting it in ABRIS 2. select DL/ingress 3. uncaged shkval. 4. lock TA 5. destroyed target (kept shkval uncaged) Then I managed to 1. select the next target in abris with [DLINK Target#1] (with shkval still uncaged) 2. hitting the uncage shkval and it auto-slew to next target I had selected. I don't recall reseting the DL/ingress or even switching off laser between targetting. Just simply selected target, auto-slew, lock, destroy, - next target select, auto-slew, lock, destroy. But can never get this to work again so easily. I find to auto-slew to the next target I must first unselect DL/ingress then, to select the next target I must either reset shkvall off OR turn off laser! Then and only then I can select the next target, followed by re-activate DL/ingress finally uncage shkval then I can auto slew. It seems a bit cumbersome to select the next target after supressing the first one. It would be nice to simply select the next target by pressing one button after auto-slewing to the first one. Is it possible? :noexpression: I thought I did it once, but it was the heat of battle and I can't remember how I got it to work.
  6. Sometimes you get some good air support, sometimes not. You have to fly BS smart and patiently. It sucks sometimes, but then sometimes you get a win and it is VERY rewarding for the effort you must put in. Very sweaty having fighters buzzing around you and you're managing to avoid them. Pretty crazy when you're cruising at low speeds and an enemy fighter shoots past and he didn't see you. I don't know if missions were designed before the BS/FC merge, but target area ingress points really need some ground scenery/cover.
  7. Thank you quicksilver for starting this thread. I managed to get it working ages ago with PPjoy Virtual joystick, but was rather unusable. So I wanted to try the TrackIR interface in BS. Mine didn't work initially because I didn't realise BS TrackIR was encrypted. After waldo's post, it all worked. My results: - CPU was drained 10%, but that translated to only 1fps loss in game. - I found it would track my head well, even past 45 degrees, enough to even turn my head until I could not see the screen. - Initial default profile was very sluggish and laggy with response as posted by fearlessfrog. I tweak for about an hour, and managed to get a resonably responsive head track with no lagg. - Problem is, I only have 320x240 x30 web cam, so the view tends to jiggle even when you keep your head perfectly still when all lag is removed. To remove the jiggle I have to re-introduce the sluggish response(smoothing), and there is no usable trade off. - For some reason, the software algorithm seems to translate vertical head movement as similar to pitch so I could only use only 3DOF other wise glancing upwards would throw my head into the roof. :D Perhaps this was because my head only fills 20% of the web cam space, but I don't have zoom on my cam. Zooming in might remove that issue. Summary: So unless you have a really good web cam Quicksilver, say 640+ or HD It's not very usable. I can't see it as a replacement for TIR without an amazing web cam. Sure it will work on one like mine, but you will have very delayed headtracking due to needing the smoothing turned up. Another side note, this software has a choice of a few different protocols. I have now found that the PPjoy virtual joystick solution works just as well, (exactly the same that is) as TrackIR interface. The virtual joystick method just takes a few moments longer to set up.
  8. I would pay $300USD, or left nut.
  9. I understand what you want it for. You want to 'look' somewhere with your head tracker and then flip any switch that the cursor comes to rest on. It seems some people don't understand. Of course, it's not using the interface the way it was intended, but try it if you want. Personally I use my keyboard to trigger cockpit switches, sometimes it's easier to press 1 than move the mouse to the ABRIS region and locate the virtual button. But everyone has their own way of doing it. There is a tiny program called JoyToKey which translates any joystick input into any keyboard/mouse function. You can even set a joystick axis threshold to trigger the mouse click if you have an unused axis. All you need to do is set which joystick event you want to make click the mouse and it has a pretty decent user interface, no programming or special skills required. This program is quite powerful for many games I use. You can save profiles easily and switch them when you change to a different game. In BS for example I have mapped 5 modifiers to my collective with JoyToKey and this gives me potentially 144 buttons on my cyclic that only has 16 buttons. I'm sure there are other ways to make the mouse click with Autohotkey, PPJoy or GlovePIE, but JoyToKey will do it easiest. Xpadder will let you as well, but I've never used that, but it is a popular program for the same types of features. I hope this is what you were looking for, good luck.
  10. Not odd in the slightest, not normal at, but not a mystery. As others have just said, the centre zone needs to be increased. Make the dead zone slightly larger. This can occur over time because the hardware is old and aging. POTs can get twitchy with carbon build up and age. Clean them using contact cleaner, which will require opening the stick up, youtube videos can assist with that. Or if its always been like it, then the stick was probably faulty to begin with, I have bought controllers in the past that have been faulty and wont centre perfectly, refund then. Usually due to cheap design and parts. Also it could need re-calibration in windows. Choose the controller options in the windows control panel. Look for the joystick and find the re-calibration section. Then follow the steps. Best of luck
  11. Did you happen get a new monitor to? Perhapse you bumped up the effects and detail levels a bit since your old PC and it's fully using the graphics effects now. I went from HD4850 to GTX295 and noticed no difference in the colours. You notice the pretty colours more when the sun is low to.
  12. Thank you winz.:) I saw this video listed in my searching this morning and I had already watched a few videos, but they only seemed like fairly close range. I didn't get around to viewing that one. It had "doppler" in the title and thought that rotor doppler was not yet modeled, so I thought no point watching the video. I see now that pulse-doppler refers to the name of the radar. So much to learn. Just after you look into everything, then you go back over old stuff and rediscover new stuff you missed the first time around because it went way over your head.
  13. Been employing some of the tactics explained in here. Having some good fun hiding in cities while fighters sail overhead. A week ago I was getting destroyed at the first waypoint. Since I don't have FC2 I was wondering how they manage to engage and hit targets from 50 miles? R-77 missles or something was mentioned in a conversation online. Any good youtube vids that could show me how they do it? Would be nice to know what's going on above 500ft. Do they use AWACS, a super shkval, radar, what... how? Mostly I want a better understanding of how they employ these types of long-long range weapons know so that I can keep out of harms way. If I can see what they would be seeing then that would be of some benefit I think. Cheers
  14. I was coming to the same conclusion Nate. I don't have Steam version. I installed the vids okay (that creats a new folder called Training), the training menu is still telling me to remove patch however. Version 1.0.2 Just wmv versions would be fine so I can watch them on my phone on my next flight. steam ftl
  15. YEs you must add it using the ADD button where you select from the list of programs. Remember when adding it to choose the program simulator.exe. Don't use launcher.exe, that's just the 2D pre-game menu program. It's nothing you've done wrong. When they patched BlackShark the name of the program changed and I don't think nvidia added the new version into it's Control Panel interface yet. Hope this helps you.
  16. Or headmouse if you don't want to mod your web cam and build an LED rig. Just make sure you disable mouse acceleration in windows. (enhance pointer precision OFF)
  17. Maybe you could do that with the TIR camera mounted above you and point the LEDs upwards. Then just switch the axis around.
  18. Laser burn out. Regarding Laser burn out. Is it possible to burn out the laser just from leaving it in STAND-BY all the time? I think I'm not letting it cool down occasionally, but would like to know if leaving it in STAND-BY is bad to. Thanks edit : thanks Eddie below, can't give more rep to you, it won't let me, sorry.
  19. Oh so awesome now. TY Now it all makes sense. Thanks for correcting me. I was also too far from targets to use them
  20. O/T rockets: Why is it when I have a locked target w/ laser on and switch over to rockets, the rocket's trajectory indicator drops really low, well below my own visual line of sight? I have to either disable the Laser range finder or move the shkval reticle down low, then the rocket's reticle will slide up into the normal line of sight. Thanks for any insight.
  21. Cheers. Sounds like I might have a better chance after reading these tips.
  22. Thanks a lot. I don't have FC2, -no desire to fly planks ;) so I have no idea what their capabilities are at all. All this is great info to me.
  23. ok, thnx guys. Things make more sense now. Just thought I was not using radar or something correctly. I would fly at 250kph under 10m, and thought that's the only thing I could do, then get blasted from out of the blue with no warning. What min height would be sufficient if ground cover is limited? Or am I pretty much screwed if its open ground?
  24. Thanks, but how slow and low? Seems like MP is impossible for me since 1.0.2 as there's many FC2 jets infesting the servers. I just get shot down all the time, usually after flying for 30 mins to get to WP, not much fun no more.
  25. good you got it going. Pictures 1 and 3 don't show. What's the wiring loom for - is that for the custom button panel?
