  1. Likewise...yesterday I went up against 4 hard-level MiG-25's on the TTI Marinas server in an F-14A. Launched 3 Phoenix C's from around 65nm and killed 2 of them. Recommitted and launched an STT Phoenix at the closest Foxbat and killed him from 18 miles. Bugged out and ran for a bit, as I was out of Fox 3's, but the last Foxbat was gaining on me, so I recommitted again and fired a Sparrow at a somewhat optimistic 15 miles (he was going really fast, though). He launched an R-40 at me as well at the same time, but trashed it when he turned cold to avoid the AIM-7. He ended up flying into the water. A kill's a kill.
  2. It's a known issue, caused by the wheel chock's location being fixed to a specific point on the wheels (so they roll around with the wheel). I believe they've said it will be addressed in the next patch.
  3. How much pitch are you using? I often do a 20-30 degree loft and have never had a missile go backwards or even straight up on me (including in the latest OB). Based on the TacView, it looks like you might be using something like 45 degrees. That's not really advisable, and argue I'd also, not needed.
  4. Same issue here. RShift-P should hide the pilot body when you're in the cockpit.
  5. OP, was this you by any chance? Anyway, this is what not turning on the O2 does...
  6. Example of the chocks after I had come back from a mission.
  7. Not sure if this is an ED thing, but the wheel chocks seem to be bound to a fixed spot on the wheels, rather then the ground. If you remove them and roll away from that exact spot (or take off and then land later), then place them again, they could appear anywhere around the wheel.
  8. Same issue. Both pilot and rio body are there now even with the option turned off, it seems, at least in the F-14A.
  9. Short of flying straight into the rising or setting sun, I don't have any issues. Have you messed with the brightness? Also, I think occasionally there's a bug where the HUD filter is applied even though the handle doesn't appeared to be pulled. Trying clicking on it a couple times.
  10. Bug: When you bind a button to autopilot toggle, it only turns the autopilot on. It will not turn the autopilot off when clicked again. Can I reproduce it 100%: Yes If not 100%, how often out of 10: N/A How to reproduce/ description: Bind a button on your hardware to main autopilot switch toggle. Start a session in the F-14 pilot seat. Press the button on your device. Note that the autopilot switch on the left console moves to the "on" position. Press the button again. Note that the autopilot switch does NOT move to the "off" position. Expected result: Hitting the autopilot toggle button should alternatively move the main autopilot switch between on and off positions. Note: I've tried this with binds on my VKB NXT and an XBox controller with the same results. Other toggles function as expected. This has been an issue for as long as I can remember. DCS Version: OpenBeta 2.8.0.33006 (but had the same problem on previous versions)
  11. I honestly don't find being above Mach 1 to make much difference with Phoenix, and I stopped trying to get past the number when launching one a while ago. Altitude seems to matter quite a bit more as far as the final missile interception speed goes. I'd rather convert my speed into a bit more altitude rather then launch fast. For the record, I'm usually launching 60-70 nm shots from 38-40k against AI fighter targets. Against Fulcrums and Flankers I'll try to get higher...around 45k, and I still get kills on them. F-14 pilot "Puck" Howe said that "the Sparrow likes speed, the Phoenix likes altitude." That seems to hold true in DCS as well.
  12. Wo Or have the proper crew animations for the F-14A?
  13. It looks like the source is (or was) a small naval weapons museum located just outside the gate at point mugu. https://www.air-and-space.com/Pt_Mugu_Command_History_Storage_Facility.htm I suspect it might have moved to China Lake, but can't really find anything about it currently.
  14. Was just listening to the Air Crew Interview of F-14 test pilot Kurt Schroeder. FWIW, he said the fastest they ever got the F-14 was M2.41.
  15. I've definitely heard pilots say similar things!
  16. I thought it was...so firing on the T when multiple targets are prioritized might not be ideal. I try and just line up the target on the TID.
  17. Oh nice...is that PMTC livery available in the user files?
  18. Damn, I'd love it if the A could get through transonic a bit easier. Based on anecdotal evidence (i.e., pilots on the F-14 Tomcast), it seems like "getting through the number" should be quite a bit easier than it currently is.
  19. FWIW, I made a post about this in early September, but it's something I had seen well before posting about it.
  20. I don't think this behavior is new at all FWIW. I think it's unrealistic in terms of the f-14 because I don't think Tomcats ever launched Phoenix's using a loft. That said, I wonder if this lower loft profile was a fix for the missiles lofting too much on short range shots in the past. Perhaps that is compromising the medium-long range shots?
  21. I know it might not be advised or realistic, but loft assist still seems to give a definite energy advantage. Here's me firing two Phoenix's at two MiG-21's at equal range (~70nm). The first shot isn't lofted and climbs to around 77k. The second shot, taken immediately after, gets a loft assist and goes up to nearly 100k feet, and gets to the bandits' general altitude with around .5+ Mach more speed. It actually manages to just about catch up with the first missile. loftvsnonloft.acmi
  22. One of the three was short, but the two others I'd consider reasonably long range. Both were from level flight (no assist). 1st: Range 58 miles, launch at 40,100ft , Mach .9. Loft was to 65,200 feet. 2nd: Range 62 miles, 44,000ft, Mach .68. Loft was to 68,000 feet. To be fair, I haven't tried a 70+ mile launch since the patch.
  23. It's so weird...like the bandit has a force field around it and the missile bounces off. It doesn't even look like the angle was right to get in the notch in your screen shot, either. Happens to me all the time, though. Last night I was only getting the missile to around 65k ft from a 40k launch with no assist. Haven't tried assisting since the patch.
  24. Note: I'm pretty sure most if not all of those shots are from Point Mugu. That little control tower is in the background of so many of my pics. Except this one: My pic of VX-4 #46.
  25. Great about the lofting, but does that mean we're back to the situation where the missiles immediately do a 180 if the track drops?
