The Persian take on the F-14 and her rival, the Mig-23.
RIPTIDE replied to mjmorrow's topic in Military and Aviation
Here's my problem with that list. I look at the MiG-25 kill. The source for most of the Iranian claims comes essentially from 1 guy called Cooper I think that wrote some books about it. I believe the Iranian story of the MiG-25P/PD kills happened outside of the permitted flight range of the MiG-25 that were allowed to go.... ie. GCI range. So from the Iraqi sources, shooting down a MiG-25P or PD would have been impossible in the location that the Iranians claim. And secondly, out of all the plinted wrecks and museam pieces from the war, there is nothing of a MiG-25 on display. Out of all the aircraft, ironically I would have imagined the MiG-25 to have the most debris intact, not to mention it's huge heavy engines. So that list... I would supply with a grain of salt. -
Su-27 Open-Beta chit-chat and first impressions!

It's going to be raining inverted flankers on Servers for a while. ;) -
Because, depending on who joined, you would get wiped off the map.... if you get in trouble you can't call a 24/7 roster of on duty pilots to suddenly join a public server and defend your space.

Sikorsky bombards Polish helicopter tender

Typical Tender shenanigans where often the real requirements are left short to the whims of some brown envelopes, whispers and back slapping. Same the world over. -

We'd like people to make sure that your connection is at least set for 2048+. If it's set for 1024 you may get problems and disconnects. As the server gets busy and a mission proceeds, throughput will exceed 1024 easily.

Oh, I know. I don't disagree. But anyways... :joystick:

I think the point is that numbers fielded don't make a great argument about inclusion into DCS etc. The cornerstone of DCSW is the Su-25T. How many of them are about? Ka-50? A dozen? I remember it was discussed before that the Multi TWS shot ability might have been in place of half a dozen or so APG-63, at that particular time... but I wouldn't use low production run either, as some excuse to restrict the feature. The other point of course is that, there's lots of Su-27X variant examples nowadays. As for variants, for me personally I consider everything from Su-27-35 as basically the one jet, modified. To use some sort of an analogue maybe F-15A/C/E. Just that in the Su-27 line, UAC/Su went nuts with the marketing and numbers. lol

Target is 15km slant and 2,000 above me in altitude. When the target is outside of scan range of the Radar the target mark in the scope changes to 'T' .. which of course is contrary to @pg138 and abouts in the manual. Of course, we can know why all this is happening. The radar is modelled as being gyroscopically stabilized in the horizontal, while in reality it is non moving and fixed? Somewhere in the modelling... when the contact goes outside the 17.5 degrees Stated limit above nose, the contact still appears because the radar is modelled as stabilized. The Inverted 'T' returns as normal when nose is raised.... but then... remains when the nose is raised above the target far in excess of the stated -1.5 degree limitation (you can see the red label though the notes below the gunglass. One thing which remains true to design as modelled of course is the Target lock. You will not be able to lock the target while he remains outside the stated limitations. I can see him even though my nose is up... but I can't lock him. In conclusion.... the radar is currently heavily modelled off the Horizontally Stabilised BVR Mode '2' of the FC3 aircraft, while it is in search mode.

I can't find the ASO-2 in Warehousing list. This is problematic because if we have anything other than unlimited, guys can't rearm with ASO-2 on the rearm screen in MP environment. 1.2.10.32275

Yes Mig-21 would wipe it out, having flown the DCS/Leatherneck release.
-
well, the SPS-141 is available... that has flares and chaff as well as ecm?

Getting around to this now. All non restricted weapons will start at 3,000 or so. Sometimes one isn't 100% familiar with weapons usage on the server. Also can anyone tell me the name of the Chaff/Counter measures device for the MiG-21Bis? I know it's called ASO-2 in the rearm screen and the payload editor, but I can't recognise it in the Warehousing.
