Yes, you're right, a failing hard drive. I think I made this thread to discuss the philosophy of software piracy and anti piracy, as opposed to a general rant. Just interested to hear both sides of the argument as opposed to a critique of my hard drive :D

Guys, I'm not so much talking about myself nor do I appreciate comments about my own mental state (i.e impulsive). I had a failing hard drive and had a huge number of issues. I have already commented and will get activations back soon. What I am debating is, whether piracy protection is worth it when the pirates can play with no hassle.

Right, often I don't rant but... I ran out of activations for A-10..and am now sat here unable to play it despite spending money on it, commenting (hopefully contributing to a better product) on issues in the beta, and buying other ED products. This isn't so much a criticism of ED as I understand they want to protect their product, but ultimately, what is the point? Anybody that wants to crack the game will (albeit a week later) which ultimately leaves us, the paying consumers, as the only people that suffer. Whilst I await ED to update my activations (having spent a lot of money on all their products which I will continue to do) I have no doubt there are a plethora of pirates enjoying the game that I (like all of you) paid to have developed. Seems the irony of software piracy protection is that the only people that suffer are the honest customers! Rant over (Please note, this isn't a general ED rant, but a rant toward all software piracy protection which is, in my eyes, ultimately useless and alienating of the true fanbase)

Hey guys, Decided to get the FSX out that I bought last week due to my lack of A10 boredom. Anyway, have been looking into the PMDG MD11 and it looks pretty hardcore - Possibly more complex than A10? Anyway, Do I just need FSX + to buy the addon? I don't need anything else? I ask only because I know it's an extremely complex aircraft and was not sure if it'd work with only FSX. Cheers

Yup lol... Between beta and RC I've had numerous formats, then used a spare HDD which also failed, then bought a new HDD (this morning) so I can't play! I know, I'm a fool! Will ask support :-)

Hey all, since early Beta I've had pretty extensive HDD problems and an entire rebuild of my rig. I've now replaced my HDD and had (stupidly) forgotten to deactivate the game. As such I have no activations left with my new HDD! Is there a way I can get anymore via request (if it's evident they've all been activated at my IP?) Or is that it...I have to wait 31 days? My own fault, I know...Should've paid more attention to deactivation. Con

Hey, I had some problems with this for a while...In order to get it right every time do this... Start engines blah blah blah *DO NOT MOVE!!!* Run EGI and CDU Set time irl or on the timer... Wait 4 minutes and 30 seconds...Then it'll be flashing with NAV Ready 4.0.0.8 Press NAV on the CDU Arm all the EAC Channels EAC will now work when you flick the behind throttle switch :-)

I expect so, though you like most others may need to keep water detail down...Basically the game renders water everywhere and it can cause big FPS hits...You will probably still get slowdown at times but it's not a good sim if it doesn't make your system cry :-) Enjoy it...Is it your first sim?

Just set . , / ; (the default slew buttons) to the HAT. Also, make combinations such as /; (up right) /. (down right) ,. (down left) ,;(up left) so that you have 8 axis of movement on the shkval, for easier paning.

If TOP GUN has taught me anything it's that Russian hardware doesn't work. Neither do Tomcat ejector seats but that's besides the point. And what do you mean we already have enough of US hardware? There hasn't been a sim as detailed as A10 for US hardware in years....Personally I'd love to see an FA/18 simulator as that thing is a work of art...You also have the SU-27...Sure it's not great for switchologists but the FM is great. And you have the Shark...More Russian hardware... This is irrelevant anyway as our desires have nothing to do with it!

Some of you are forgetting that ultimately ED are a business. For better or worse, they have limited resources and because of that, of course they're going to focus on a new product. There is no revenue in fixing a few bugs that exist for a 2 (3?) year old product, however the A10 compatibility is a great gesture, and goes a long way toward showing that they still care about their previous work. I think some of you are looking at things without considering the business aims of ED, which is, just as every other business on this earth, to make money!

Many of us armchair pilots also fly in real life! Also, a statistical anomaly is one thing, starting up and waiting for EGI to align, then spending 10 minutes configuring flight plan etc only for the CACD to fail for no apparent reason is quite another. Of course we split hairs..Many of us aren't here simply to play a game, but to get as close to possible as flying an aircraft out of reach for many of us...We aspire for absolute perfection and will complain when anything deviates :D
