You can get the X plane demo free of charge! There is also flaming cliffs 2 but that can be a nightmare to buy.. Very jealous of your HOTAS...Makes my X52 Pro look like the POS it is :D About the turning with rudder - Thank you for the advice. I am pretty much teaching myself this stuff as I have very few real flight hours...I will try your (correct) method!
-
I find that I need the rudder to maintain altitude! Perhaps I just need more practise at turning, lol
-
I was going to say the same thing. Also ensure all switches on the HOTAS are in the off position! Other than that I'm not sure - Though I'd thoroughly recommending learning the start up procedure yourself as it will teach you (to some extent) the significance of some systems upon others, and improve your systems knowledge a lot. It's also very satisfying the first time you do it!

Hehe, those cards would probably blow his PSU...Would be...Entertaining :D Just kidding OP!

Unfortunately ED do not offer a demo version, so there is no way to try it out! As for the rudder pedals, whereas with Black Shark I really struggled to play it without pedals, with the A10 I manage fine using the twist mechanism on my joystick. (hold on, just thought...I don't think the HOTAS Warthog has a twist throttle as it's a replica).. Hmm, on second thoughts I think you will need a pair of pedals, otherwise coordinated turns and landing are going to be very difficult in all but perfect conditions...

The newest graphics card will be severely bottlenecked by your CPU and Ram! You'd be better off spending the cost of a top end graphics card on a mid range cpu/mobo/ram and GPU!

He has a confused look on his face too! Brilliant :D

Congrats :-) I am soon to start working on dropping multiple bombs on one run...Not a clue where to start :D

Hi mate, before I upgraded... shadows to low Water low Scenes low Traffic off You'll still get a nice crisp cockpit and terrain, and it'll smooth out your FPS. Turn the ground tree distance and foliage stuff to lowest...To be honest, the game looks great with everything on low except textures - Consider the rest as unimportant eyecandy. Also, defragging makes a big difference to performance...Not sure why as you'd presume the game runs off of ram, but defragging my old rig gave me 6 or 7 more FPS! A substantial increase when I was getting 15... If we're honest with ourselves, this sim is first and foremost a systems and avionics trainer - that is perfectly fine with all low, bar textures.

Ahh that makes sense, that is why it seems more common in civilian aviation then! Thanks :-) (thank for for the updated answer, too!)

Thanks for the info guys - So, when I set a course and have a TACAN destination tuned, will the CDI move me onto the heading as though there was a line drawn out from the destination, as a specific part of a radial? I hope I'm making sense... If this is true, why would you ever intercept a radial heading (i.e turn right 90 degrees, intercept radial, then left onto radial heading) rather than just head directly at the location? Hope I am making some sense.... Con

That is very cheap! hmm....

All alright, that's cool as I like the course approach thing... Thank you:)

Very nice, though I suspect you spent enough in ink and paper to buy the game twice over :D

So I got TrackIR today and am currently practising for a new squadrons initial tests....I just stopped myself and looked at what I've created..I've got my HOTAS, headset, trackIR all setup with a 24inch screen, and folders with paper clipped up against them with ILS frequencies , a note pad to take approach vectors etc and that kinda stuff...I know a few have home cockpits but, how many of you guys take it to this extent? I hope (and believe!) I am not alone :D Also, Thought I'd get a question in here..(despite saying I wouldnt ask anymore :D) I visualise an airport as a central point with degrees coming out of it. When an airport tells me to approach at say, 240, should I just turn straight to 240, or use the CDI to set a course, navigate onto the correct course and approach from that direction? Hope this makes sense :s Cheers :D
-
WOW!!!! Incredible...So much better... Couple of questions though...Precision mode..What does that do? It seems to have no effect :S Secondly, TRACKCLIP PRO!!! Wow it looks like it cost about 20p to create...I had to tape up the open casing when I got it... Other than that, brilliant!

how does flight model compare to Real Life?
Conure replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Delve into the radio stuff...Though it's kinda frustrating...I feel like I'm maybe doing it right but there's a good chance I'm doing it wrong, lol -
I think the forum is broken. There's no way I'm stupid enough to make a topic about something then forget to add the link... :D http://www.a380delivery.com/qantas/panos/tour/tour/ I would love to play the FSX stuff but it ends up as just too expensive and apparently it runs pretty badly..Though some of the videos are absolutely beautiful...check this out: it's not often I'd admit it but graphically that video puts everything DCS has to shame...
-
Hahah! Cheers! It was all powered..Very strange, I probably broke it...I usually set the initial number on the VHF1 to 9 and if it gives a strange monotone sound then it often works...

how does flight model compare to Real Life?

Ninja I think that is normal! Can I ask though, if you push your stick gently backwards when it's leaning, is there any wobble/freeplay? I've been experience it for a while and am unsure whether I have a fault...It's not very bad, just a bit annoying! -

Definitely has one of the best feeling flight models of any game I've played. Can we call this a game? I just spent two hours trying to make my radios work...That's not a game... -
Hey guys... I've run into a few problems which I can't understand in the manual... Basically I'm practising TACAN navigation followed by ILS approach (for runways that have it) and I've found that when on the floor, the TACAN radio emits static, is this because it's modelled so well that it doesn'tt work on the floor? Also, I tried to contact kopatnari (I forgot the correct spelling) and they don't appear on the list of available stations (to contact, despite having a tower frequency)! Are some just not included? I then tried to contact Batumi via radio and it didn't work - no response. VHF was set to manual and transceiver, frequency was checked and doubled checked by no reply..Does using TACAM interfere with it somehow? Finally...I somehow switched my hud off :D I tried searching the manual for "hud brightness" as I often turned it down in the Shark by accident, but to no avail... Anyway, sorry for the torrent of questions...I will cease ask any for a few days :-)

There's potentially an F15/F/A18 in the works and you're thinking about the 64a?! MADMAN!!! :megalol:

Airport elevation and adjusting my barometric altimeter
Conure replied to Conure's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Do we not have one? I saw that I could set weather to dynamic in a mission setup but I'm unsure whether that is what you mean! P.s - Rise of Flight is getting a DC!!! Come on ED :D
