hey, it could just be my imagination. I'm not very experienced with this stuff. I just feel seeing stuff like the radios and things behind the stick are easier in A10 than BS/BS2

That's all really quite surprising, as I find that the A10 allows me to put my head at much more extreme angles than the shark. Whoda thunk it?

Same here. Default with all commands disabled except centre, which I change to shift+F12

I specifically loaded up a mission to do this tonight. I realised I hadn't tried it since they were implemented properly. Great stuff. At first I thought it hadn't worked, as the visible effects were several seconds after the countdown on the HUD ended. I had pretty much given up hope, when explosions started popping over the three artillery pieces 15000 feet below me.

I don't know if mine is off or not, but I can't seem to get this calibration tool to work. It just says to connect the stick and press space. I've tried reconnecting it, and using USB ports I haven't used before. :(

Well that's my registration request sent in. I love these sims, but play a lot of other games, so would call myself a casual simmer. I have only flown online once ever, and would like to give it a shot when I can communicate more with my wingmen than just the options the game gives you.

I looked at that. There's no way I'm near ready.

Just lucky I caught it when I was getting up for work (also lucky that someone asked something I knew, as I'm far from the most knowledgeable around these parts)

Well I'd best enjoy this year, as by the end of March next year, I'll be in that situation.

The A10 manual works absolutely fine on the Kindle. Just drag and drop without conversion. It may not work well with all PDF's, but this one was fine for me. If it wasn't, I'd still be unable to fly.

In that same mission, the Mi-8 took a couple of glancing hits, as did my wingman. I also got the mission failed message when he was landing (shaking all over the place as he did so), but was able to continue to the next mission. Odd, but I don't really care. The flying experience is more important. In fact I'd turn off the "mission success" and "mission failed" if I could.

I'm 28, and I don't fly enough to be any good. Still love it though!

Well I'm at this point in the campaign. I failed my first attempt tonight. Splashed by those damn helo's as everyone else seems to be doing. Couldn't even eject, as it killed the pilot instantly. Glad that I use invulnerability (only on the pilot). I thought my flight had dealt with them, as I managed to take them all over the mountains comfortably. Well tomorrow is another day, and I'll try again.

I must have always got lucky. I've never shot or been shot by a HIND in that mission. They seem to have a fight with my wingmen though. It could be because I tend to hover as far away from the target as possible, to turn the area into a standoff shooting gallery.

Very well spotted! I'm impressed. She still tends to bark once we've gone to bed though.

awww look, they're wearing special frowns just for the newspaper. Sorry, I can't stand the way they do things like that, although I do agree with the sentiment expressed in the article that this was a little harsh, although understandable in some ways. Also, how nice of them to publish his friends twitter address!

My fiancée is indifferent to the simulator itself, although admires it's detail. She finds watching it or playing it boring, but understands why I can obsess over it or other games.

I just love the takeoff position of some of the jets on carriers. It's a great game, but doesn't aim for a huge amount of realism.
