I find some of that post quite offensive and disrespectful. Anyway, have you chased up your order to resolve your issue in any way?
-
If you play it, it wil come!

Well I just bought the G15. Hope the dog doesn't knock a drink over on this one!

The credit card situation seems to vary greatly from country to country then. As Conure said, they throw credit cards at students in the UK. Also, many credit cards here don't require an annual fee just to have anymore. I think that used to be more commonplace, but not now. You don't even have to pay any interest usually if you pay each and every bill in full, rather than just the minimum payment and on time. I only use mine for certain things, where there's a real benefit, and I've never paid a penny interest. the interest rate is extortionate.

I understand your point, and I'm not sure where I personally stand on the issue of whether they should update system requirements. Maybe they should up the recommended, but not the minimum, as people will still be able to run BS. If this does polarise users, then I hope that some servers will still be able to run 1.02, as I dont like the idea of people being left out. I, however, look forward to the patch.

1 GTX 570 does pretty damn well with this sim!

I think I'll probably get the G15. It looks like a decent keyboard. That or the Lycosa. Would've got it this weekend, but it looks like i've misjudged this month's money :( Doesn't help that my car has been written off! Even if I was only doing about 15MPH or less when I hit that wall!
-
You bought it from the same place I did. I got the pro version, but if you have a tennis visor or baseball cap, you should be fine. @konkussion (sorry, i'm too tired to try quoting at the moment, had a bad day so I probably got your name wrong, as it's on the other page) you could try a hair band or something like that to clip the trackclip pro to. I agree with you on the build quality. Mine now has masking tape holding it together.

I did a quick search, and didn't really find much. I'm thinking of paying a bit over my usual GBP15 for a keyboard and maybe going for a GBP50-60 gaming keyboard. Are these worth it in general? I'm thinking at the moment of the Microsoft X6, the Razer Lycosa, a Cyborg Keyboard, or a used Logitech G15. Does anyone have any recommendation? Although I'm not usually into aesthetics too much, I'd quite like a backlit one.

Well the news of Black Shark being on Steam came on the day it was available IIRC, so I wouldn't hold out much hope of any advanced warning. ED seem to like to surprise their consumer base.

I don't know too much about the rest, but I know about the alt's. Barometric altitude is always above sea level. Radar will always measure the altitude to the surface below you, so is probably a better guide for landing. Also, if the air pressure is different where you take off compared to where you land, the barometric altitude could pick up some inaccuracy, as it's based on the atmospheric pressure at sea level, which is a variable figure.
-
You could probably get it to run, but you might run into some issues with that amount of RAM. Also, I don't know if VRAM would be an issue for you with that setup.
-
Sounds very strange, but I'm glad you got it sorted. Now enjoy! I don't know about you, but I feel like I'm missing a trick learning this whilst everyone else is now playing in the 'hog. Possibly even stupider that I bought DCS A10. I just need to find a good setup for the x52! Then again I had black shark for about 8 months before I really took the time with it, and now I can't get enough!

Hope you're referring to the guy in the vid rather than me for posting it?

Unfortunately, the missions are largely without instructions as to how to do things. Some are just good for practicing techniques. I found this very useful: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/Tutorial_How_to_take_off_and_b.html#Post2626185 Edit: and my first Vikhr kill was only this week. Yet to be a tank, but I'm only a couple of missions into the campaign.

Seeding at...er...15kbps. Sorry!
-
The "almost" was in reference to the fact that I wouldn't call it cloth!:D
-
Sorry for the double post. Phone posting fail
-
Not quite a 960 but I believe the 950 is cut from (almost literally) the same cloth. My system eats it for breakfast with only mild indigestion (frames still lower when low over cities but no slide show). This is with everything at max. Q8 x msaa. V sync. HDR. Even water high. Civ traffic low (mostly to avoid collateral). You should have no trouble enjoying this game. I also find it runs better than black shark. Although that runs acceptably too!
-
It seems strange that your missions folder is empty. There should be a "shooting range" mission there. I'm not at home just now but I'll try to have a look later. I used that mission and the manual to learn start up (which I have forgotten). I used it to learn to fly and to target weapons. The deployment campaign is teaching me to fight

Getting 30 fps when low down sounds about right for your specs. I'm pretty sure I get fPs in the 20s briefly when low and looking around. I find it's one thing to analyse fps. How does it feel when you turn off fps monitoring? Slide show? Jerky? Hard to control due to lag? If not and if it feels nice and smooth, I just forget about the numbers and enjoy myself.
-
Argh! Don't tease us. Would love a Typhoon, Harrier or Tornado. Although I guess the latter two aren't particularly likely.
-
I actually found that pretty fun.
-
Every time I play this, I hone my abilities noticeably. I still can't land, but for me there's some amazing feeling of controlling this beast that was like a wild stallion when I first took off, and now it's getting to the stage where I can happily shoot things if they're not actively shooting at me. I can fly in a (mostly) controlled manner. Still couldn't land if my real life depended on it though.
-
Does flying through power lines actually have any effect. I remember doing it for a laugh in FC2 and it seemed not to cause any harm. Just a small explosion that seemed to do nothing. I haven't tried in either DCS title yet.
