Oh come on, a Lebowski JTAC would be amazing!

Black Shark and Flaming Cliffs 2.0 no longer start.
Rusty_M replied to droz's topic in Bugs and Problems
Is there any error message which is being displayed when you try to start them? Perhaps setting the launcher and the sim's .exe files to run as administrator could work? -
I was playing this and Empire last night. Decided to set the difficulty to easy. It's been a long time since I've had to do that, but I find Total War hard to get to grips with. I'm not great at strategy/tactics at the best of times, but Total War tends to kick my ass!

would be cool if some company made a stick base, then sold various replica sticks/throttles separately. A sort of modular design.

I've had no problems, but have only been running the training missions, and only occasionally. If crashes are random I might not have come across them yet.

SFJackBauer's Saitek X-52 Profile
Rusty_M replied to SFJackBauer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That looks like a great improvement. I tried it previously, and couldn't quite get the hang of it. That looks much more similar to what I was considering making for myself, but couldn't quite get my head around what I wanted where. -
What headset you guys use ?

heh...you mean like turning off your computer whilst windows is still starting? It doesn't like that!
-
I get what you mean there. I read about that feature in another thread somewhere. Something to do with the grid being the same size relative to the missile throughout the course of it's flight n'est pas?

There used to be a list floating around of all the things the Daily Mail says cause cancer. It was pretty long, and included both pregnancy and childlessness! Surely there's always a risk of an earthquake near a major faultline, whether there's been one recently or not (discounting aftershocks, which are practically a certainty when there's recently been a major earthquake)

Thanks again. That explains a lot. The second target was very close to the first, so there wasn't a huge change of position. Every time I play this sim, something makes me grin!
-
Cool! So adjusting the shkval adjusts where the beam that the Vikhr rides is pointing. I don't think i'll try using it as a normal technique, but it made good use of a missile that would otherwise have been wasted :)

Last night I was playing a mission in the Georgian Oil War campaign (that was well above my ability level), and fired a Vikhr at a tank in a column. What I hadn't realised until after I fired, was that I'd already destroyed it and it hadn't exploded until after I launched the second Vikhr. With this second missile due to be wasted, I managed to re-adjust the Shkval and target another tank, which was destroyed by the in-flight missile. Was this just pure blind luck, or is this expected behaviour? I just thought it was pretty cool. Kinda like Vikhr LOAL, although I don't suppose this feature would have too many practical applications.

Ah Viper, I so hope that's true! (apart from the inconvenience). I'd rep you for the laugh, but the forum machine said "no"

Ah nature: the most powerful force in the world. Puts all of our best technology to shame sometimes.

I must be weird. I love DCS. I love Ace Combat, but hate HAWX. I love ARMA II & Battlefield. Just depends on what mood i'm in.

That moment where you fire a vikhr, and instead of going in a straight line and crashing into the ground, you can see it spiral towards your target...that's what made me feel like "oh yeah, chika-chika"

Well that's pretty much what I used to get...maybe around 20 sometimes at take off. Now it's about 7. I used Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility which came with my motherboard. I returned to a profile I'd been using since I built it in January. Windows Experience index went from 7.4 to 7.6 for CPU when I re-checked it today. I use 20x200 for 4GHz. I have the ram at 1600 MHz, 7,8,7,20 as it's rated for at 1.65v. I never touched any of the voltages, as I never needed to. Its really strange that the performance has changed so dramatically. I'm wondering if it's worth re-installing both sims (I also need to check the performance on some other games to see if that's been affected. Edit: do you know what file I'll need to make a copy of if I want to save my controller configuration if I uninstall and do a fresh inshall? Double Edit: This is not a black shark issue as far as I can tell. I can't tell where the problem is, and I'm not sure how to locate it. I am unable to get good framerates in other games, suggesting a re-install would do nothing. Could a mod please move this to a more appropriate place, as I guess this is a hardware issue, not an issue with ED's sims. Edit MkIII: I changed some things I didn't really understand in the BIOS which couldn't be tweaked by the Tuning Utility. FPS back into the 50's & 60's Hooray!

You're exactly where I was two weeks ago! This is where I find it gets fun! Now I just need to sort out some new performance issues.
-
The C displayed in your Shkval means "permission to fire". It indicates that all parameters are correct to allow you to fire your selected weapon.
-
Have you pressed "C" to enable cannon mode? In automatic mode, that should bring up the large box which shows where you can hit things with the cannon.
-
This one is strange. I was getting into Black Shark over the past couple of weeks. This week I ended up going back to stock speeds, before re-instating my overclock. Framerates previously went from the high teens to the 40's mainly. Now they're almost never above 18, even in the shooting range mission! Does anyone have any pointers as to what I might have missed? It strikes me as odd that with the same settings, my game performance has gone through the floor. Edit: this also seems to apply to DCS: A10. The familiarization training mission now gives me 8FPS! Thanks for any help, and sorry for the stupidity that's causing my to post this.

I plan to get, and suck at, Shogun 2 at some point. I just figure I'm as well waiting for a steam sale, as I'm just getting into BS, and that's taking up a lot of my playing time. (i should really play Warthog if I want co-op, but i'm having fun)

My ultimate wish would be an ultimate DCS, combining the best parts of the DCS series, ArmAII, and FSX's map. I know it's not possible at the moment, and won't be for a long time. But it could be very cool, especially if there was a dynamic campaign mode where a few players play it as an RTS, whilst others enter the unit of their choosing.
-
I have both too, and think they're really good, but haven't really given them enough time to be proficient. They take more time to play than sims do!
