  1. The hog doesn't have a parking brake, but there aren't any chocks implemented either. You have to either hold the brakes down to keep yourself from rolling and hope another keypress doesn't take them off (Like the ctrl key) or hope your EGI alignment isn't too far off if you start rolling lol. AFAIK there is no possible way to keep yourself stationary in a passive way in this sim. edit: P.S. We have the same number of posts! Scary! haha.
  2. Well Fraps still kills the framerates for me, but that's Fraps for you lol. I still remember the single digit frames I was getting in Beta 1 and 2...now it's smooth as buttuh!

  4. Yeah, it's not easy that's for sure. What's the deal with the JTAC and AI wingmen anyway? It seems like they don't need to be cleared hot. :noexpression:
  5. :lol: Well thankfully there's only a few you have to memorize. Like angels, bearing, bullseye, cold/hot/flanking. My biggest challenge is the encyclopedia of ground targets. Ural? Tunguska? All I know is it's an armored target and it looks like it can shoot. :pilotfly:

  8. Which torrent client are you using? I used uTorrent, one thing I did that sped it up was go into the options -> connections, and change my max number of connections per torrent to something like 900. It's at 50 by default I think. There's literally hundreds of seeders right now, so setting that value to something really high lets you connect to more of them.
  9. Yep, I had alt-tabbed a few times. Saw that thread was during the beta though, and just wondered if they thought they fixed it.
  10. Here's another one. Saw "choppy" clouds reported during the beta, but thought I'd post a screenshot of it occurring in the final release version. Mission is the free flight - ramp start, with "Summer - Rain" preset weather. Hardware specs are in my sig.

  12. Have to agree. This is everything I want in a sim. Many hours of my life will be spent in it. I also like how everyone was all "Conspiracy....still in BETA after February, blah blah!" ED: "Oh btw here's the final release version."
  13. I used to have problems with hung stores. You really have to hold down the pickle button for a long time during CCRP otherwise you'll almost certainly get one. Also I almost always bring the DSMS page up before releasing, so I can confirm a good release before letting go of the button. It's something like 3 or 4 seconds you have to hold it for.
  14. Woot! I just completed it! I did what you guys said, and saved my mavericks. I had my wingman takeout two of the tanks with 2 mavericks (after the bridge), then I took out the rest with my guns. Yeah they fired at me, but I just kept my speed up and did a lot of jink outs. I kept my wingman anchored in a safe zone whenever I was working with guns. Then we flew out to the column, used all 6 mavericks on them until all of the SAMs were gone and only 2 AAAs remained. My gun went dry on the first AAA, and I dropped an LGB on the last one. No damage taken, and I got an air medal. :smartass:
  15. Obviously I'd win.... :weight_lift_2: Lol ;) I know I've got a wingman, but it's just too hard to coordinate attacks WELL with AI. I usually go guns on the first two targets, and GBU-38 on the bridge from high altitude, bypassing the AAA/SAMs there. Then when I have my wingie go for the tanks, he turns around and goes for the air defenses at the bridge :doh: :D. I know I can have him attack my SPI and everything. It'd just be so much easier if I could yell "Two, attack those guys right there at that waypoint!" So I end up using my mavs on the tanks, and guns on the column :(. What'd be really useful is if you could tell your wingie to attack with certain weapons, so we'd have a total of 8 mavs for the column. Or can you...?
  16. Must be your imagination. I haven't noticed that at all. Maybe your graphics settings aren't the same?
  17. Okay CAS is no joke. I've been trying to complete one of these quickstart missions since beta 1, and I never can! When it comes to the last target, there's a column moving along the road with SAMs and AAA. I end up going winchester with my mavs, and so it comes down to using the gun. JTAC gives me an attack heading of 170-210, and it lines me up perfectly with the road they're on. I sneak up behind them, activate my CMS program, rain fire down on the last 2 or so vehicles, but no matter what happens, I'm ALWAYS clipped with a missile or AAA fire. Then they scatter, and I end up having to do positive ID searching with the TGP between strafes...it's very hard. I'd like to hear some tactics you guys have on strafes for keeping your butts safe. Is there ANY other way to use the GAU-8 on dangerous targets where you aren't just rolling the dice on one of them firing? Seems like we'd have a lot more A-10s shot down if pilots were doing this all the time.
  18. +Rep on that. I was reading the DCS website while downloading it last night, and read something about it being the most accurate flight model ever. Then I started thinking about all of the complaints on the flight model here in the forums...I was worried about that one. But the final release version flight model is like a night and day difference between the two. Another subtle addition is hearing the wind in the cockpit. I looooove planting the stick in my lap and hearing the WOOOOOSH of the aerodynamic brake you create. Now all we need is a canopy closing sound. :music_whistling:

  20. First impression is...AWESOME! The flight model has clearly been adjusted too. There's also some corrections on things like lamps, and gauges. New GAU sound is fricken sweet...can almost smell the gun when you fire it now. I'd still have to say my favorite tweak is the flight model though. They really listened to the community on that one, and it's now totally flawless. Doing some sweet gun runs with that classic high alpha exit no problem!

  25. Go Seahawks! Anyway, it's not the HUD I have a hard time seeing. It's what's behind the HUD. I think it's that "sight distance" issue most simulators suffer from.
