Just use rockets on WP1 and 2, GBU-12 on bridge and SAM at the tank waypoint, then let your wingman take out the rest of the tanks. (There's a 50/50 chance he'll die if you don't take out the SAM for him). Then use all 4 combined mavs on the column, and drop a GBU-38 on anything remaining. Pretty easy way to do it. I'll post a vid later.

Nothing came up in the search, so sorry if it's been discussed. The Medium - Summer/Foothills quickstart mission is broken. No tanks pop up after destroying the bridge. quickstart.zip

Lasing Targets For Others: Best way to maintain the lase?636_Castle replied to Merlin216's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog Probably because buddy lasing usually occurs when you're unable to lase a target yourself. Also that method isn't the most accurate. You might notice how when JTAC gives you the location of an enemy, you still have to slew your cursor a bit in order to designate the target. Same with markpoints. Everybody's slant range is different, so broadcasting SPI isn't always 100% perfect. Also it lets you fire and forget, so you can drop an LGB near a target over clouds without having a visual, and let someone at a safe distance lase it in for you. You have to be creative. Either orbit with the target on the same wing as the TGP, or fly with one wing low while you circle around. Remember to watch the seeker dot on the screen. When it starts getting close to the 5/7 oclock positions on the screen, that's usually a good indication it's time to reposition. Yep. No more client JTAC.

I vote release a patch installer that works well. ;)

Collateral damage can be prevented by means other than banning specific weapons.

In other words, kill people, but do it nicely. *Holding back rant*.

Fly heading 232 for 35, qfe 29.............636_Castle replied to bloomstomb's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog Nor was I saying there were USAF operations out of Russia, but airplanes do fly in Russia, and when they do, ATC gives them the altimeter calibration setting in QFE, unless at QNE altitude. :) Altimeter setting isn't a preference of the Air Force, it's a mandatory flight rule. The "real world" example you can compare this to, is by looking at the Russian Federation flight rules, which the USAF would adhere to.

Cockpit Hud (Blackshark/A-10C) and hopefully soon fc2636_Castle replied to trigen's topic in DCS Modding Can't you just hit alt+F1?

It's already in the official announcements. :P

I can't seem to get past the very first CSAR mission either. The UH-60 hovers over the pilot until everyone runs out of fuel. Maybe it can be fixed in the ME.

DCS: A-10C - Devis Cross Campaign Mission 1636_Castle replied to Madman777's topic in Screenshots and Videos Couldn't help but notice your console writing vanished. On-going bug in action. :P Good video though.

I love it!!! I'll be one very happy guy when my A-10C is flying in those Afghan mountains. All we'll need is a desert camo mod for ground units after that. ;)

Given, I haven't looked at the track, but if your missile didn't impact the helicopter I wouldn't expect it to fall out of the sky. Like WRFirefox said, it's a combat helicopter, and a little fragmentation isn't going to drop it, especially a Hind.

My first skin, wondering if you guys have suggestions.

Some questions (fuel / takeoff / landing)636_Castle replied to Malleus's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog A headwind of 130ish knots. Obviously not realistic, but it's in the TOLD chart range.

Some questions (fuel / takeoff / landing)636_Castle replied to Malleus's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog 1) They can be switched on at any time. Both the left and right AC generators need to be online in order for them to pressurize with bleed air though, so they won't start operating until your engines are fully running. 2) You hold short and then call the tower. If you don't get a response and you're sure you're on the right radio, you probably aren't close enough to the runway to trigger takeoff clearance. 3) Anywhere from 0 to 9000 feet.

Changing Campaign Payloads - Cheating?636_Castle replied to 636_Castle's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog LOL same. I've had to remap softbuttons on the MFCDs before to be able to access the mav TV or TAD/DSMS when one of the screens goes out. Screen goes out...something leaking from the wing, one engine running low. Ehh...I can still use weapons though. :)

We could all request attack profiles and procedures from Wags for his next tutorial vid. :music_whistling:

I'm surprised nobody has requested an ALQ-184 yet. That's all I ever see them carry anymore.

Changing Campaign Payloads - Cheating?636_Castle replied to 636_Castle's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog Well, even the newest A-10As use LITENING pods. ;) In all seriousness though, I wondered if there was a mission design reason for the unrealistic loadout. Irregular programming - you say the mission designer put reasoning behind the loadout, but what would the reasoning be? I've decided to customize the loadouts. I just can't imagine shooting at a target nobody has eyes on.

I don't think your group ID always has to be 1. The key for me is to listen to the radio when I call JTAC. Sometimes your flight number changes when you listen to yourself on the radio. For example, your real call is Hawg 7-1, but when you call JTAC, the AI will say "...this is Hawg 1-1". That's when I know to quickly change the net group to 1. It's only like that on a few missions though. If the AI radio says 7-1, then I don't change it, and it still works.

Here's a great possible resource for mission designers. It lists the sorties flown in Afghanistan for September 2010, day by day. http://warthognews.blogspot.com/search/label/A-10%20Afghanistan%20Combat%20Summary
