  1. @sobek & cichlidfan: I'm not sure if such an action would result in additional sales either. However if a potential new customer were to look at the features of the current fc3, sporting multiple planes but only one 3d cockpit, which is now standard in flight sims, as opposed to all 3d cockpits, I'm sure they will be more likely to buy it. An increase in preorder price might foot a small part of the cost required, but probably not much. However this is pointless speculation as the release is apparently due this September, so what is more likely is that we see some kind of booster pack if anything, which Ed would want to charge for rather than release as a patch. But most likely is that this will be the final form of fc3, and hopefully 3rd parties might fill in the gaps, which I would be fine with considering the calibre of cockpits which have been shown.
  2. If people demand all 3dcockpits, wouldn't it make sense for Ed to hire 3d modellers to fill that demand? If it takes say 3 people one year to make one pit, it might take several teams of people the same amount of time to make several cockpits, making this a much more desirable product. Just an idea.
  3. Damn this looks amazing! DCS is going to keep us all very busy for many years. :D
  4. That fc3 is in a beta stage, meaning it may be close to release :).
  5. I'm sure someone out there is already planning on releasing a nice 3d pit for atleast one of these birds. :music_whistling:
  6. All I know is that the impending release of FC3 really does excite me, I will most likely get it upon release.
  7. I must say the news of the upcoming release of fc3 is a mixed blessing for me. On the one hand it will be nice to have the aircraft from fc2 brought into DCS world, along with the improved graphical engine, and the f-15 cockpit will be awesome. But not having any new aircraft is kind of disheartening, after waiting so many years for variations only to have the Same old platforms churned out to us yet again for the fourth time. I do get that producing a new aircraft might take a fair amount of resources and time to produce, but that is what ED is in the business of, so surely if anyone can do it, it's them. But this all comes back to the fact that currently ED has their plate full with DCS world, combined arms, mustang, Nevada, and the upcoming DCS fighter, so realistically we shouldn't have expected much from fc3. No doubt they are only able to dedicate a small portion of resources on fc3, and therefore decided to not expand on the content of the previous fc2, and produce more of a DCS world port with a few upgrades to justify the new tag. At any rate, no doubt the aircraft of fc3 will see much use and be a welcome feature of DCS world, and with any luck we will see improved features for the rest of the aircraft.
  8. May have been mentioned previously, but motion blur would further enhance this already superior graphics engine.
  9. I have always dreamed that something like this would come along. Let's hope it's as good as they make it out to be.
  10. Ah well, screw steam then. Who needs them. We don't want hordes of MW3 teenagers flooding our servers anyway.
  11. Awesome, I'd love to see how it affects the shadows in the cockpit. Sadly I have ati :(.
  12. Yes, I think we are all mature enough that we can wait a bit for this to be released, no sense in rushing it.
  13. That would make perfect sense and be the most logical conclusion.
  14. I suppose this would all only apply for officially supported DCS modules and not 'joe blogs' scratched together module.
  15. Hopefully DCS World has an automatic update or some such feature, or they could post links in the news tabs of DCS world.
  16. What if ED implemented some kind of rewards type system, so that you accrue points with each purchase through Ed and can then use those points to buy any other Ed product.
  17. I think the reason there is such concern over the direction of DCS is it SEEMS that ED are giving over control of the direction of DCS to third party developers and yet ED are yet to even show the customer what they are working on. The problem seems to be that of a boundary issue; customers love both ED and DCS, and see it as the last bastion of quality modern combat flight simming, as the saviour of the industry. They know ED have what it takes to make a great simming arena, however it seems now DCS has been saturated by third party developers, some of them either unknown or untested, who have the potential to make or break the DCS name. My greatest concern is that of consistency. As we are a smaller community, we all need to be on the same page when it comes to multiplayer, especially now with the development of combined arms and DCS World, which brings the potential for a greater expansion of the multiplayer environment, but at the same time, requires a large proportion of online members to be working in unison. With the development of so many third party products, There will no doubt be different camps developing, playing favourites with certain aircraft and excluding others, which will also create a rift within the community. What we really need is an environment which brings us all together rather than splits us apart, and that is my fear for the future of DCS.
  18. What if you just replace the edm cockpit file with a blank placeholder, so then you end up with just the external model.
  19. Would have to agree there, the formation flying community is a testament to that.
  20. It may have already been asked, but I am curious what the units do when not under player control? Does the AI take over? What if there is a really poor commander? Can he be booted or vote kicked?
  21. This..... Looks... Awesome!!!
  22. Thanks blaze, much appreciated, I'll try that instead.
  23. Hi all, I am currently building a custom cockpit for the Virtual Roulettes formation flying team. What I want to do is add a pilot model with movable arms which follow the stick and throttle movements when viewed from the first person view in cockpit. I have managed to animate the stick arm within 3ds Max to follow the stick using bones, Ik solvers and skin modifiers. I used an arg based animation on the Ik solver, however when I export and test in game there is no arm movement, only the stick. I am guessing fc2 does not support these features for animations? Does anyone have any idea how this can be achieved? If there isn't any other way I might have to animate each arm joint separately, however that would be extremely tedious, and the use of bones for the animation would help immensely. I appreciate any input, however I do realise this might be an irregular query.
  24. I also have the g940 and have this same problem in hard maneuvours such as quick snap rolls and pulls. I am unsure whether it is just the AFM itself or some other problem, but it sure is annoying during a turning fight to start floundering around while you get shot up. On another note, when they finally do get the ffb going, it will be truly interesting to see if they include stick deflection from control surface movement.if they include this, it will be Ike trying to wrestle an anaconda :joystick:
  25. The Phantom would be the logical choice, being a "Mig killer" and all...
