The text on that page says exactly what I said in my posts #74 and #75. This text provides further endorsement to what I said in my post #80. Also this text puts in doubt that standard (unmodified, as used in original F-15C in 1979) APG 63 was used for test firing of AMRAAM, as you implied in your post #77.

This is your post #65. Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!
-
That is MSIP II right? Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!
-
Either your article or my book is wrong. Although, your article is talking about test firing. And usually tests of new technologies include some kind of modifications/upgrades. Test platform could use APG 63, but the question is was it a standard or modified APG 63.

I am reading "Combat Legend F-15 Eagle and Strike Eagle", page 57, it says that the MSIP II added "support for the AIM-120 AMRAAM". Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!
-
Original F-15C had AN/APG 63 radar and could not use AMRAAM.
-
AN/APG 63 could not. That was original radar, even on F-15C right? AMRAAM capability was introduced after MSIP II, when AN/APG 70 was installed in all new C models and as update to all A and existing C models. Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!

AIM-9X could use R-73 seeker. I don't see any problem with that.

Hi Manfrez, When it comes to the R-27EA missile seeker, locking and terminal navigation/tracking, works exactly the same as R-77. I don't know what is the effective mad-dog (launch without a lock) distance, but it is the same as R-77. Honestly I don't know what the distance is to target when missile seeker locks the target and homes itself during the terminal phase of missile flight.

That is a very good idea Crunch. I don't know how to do it :( , but I'll let my guys know about this idea.

Most of the time we do not put a password on our server. We put a password on a server when we conduct internal squad practices. If you want to play on our server when R-27EA mod is active, you need to make sure you have that same mod installed on your computer. Mod files are attached in the first post and are easily installed (and removed) using a ModMan utility.

Greetings fellows FC/DCS/BS junkies, We at =4c= got little bored lately and decided to test the "what if R-27AE ..." scenario. This is by no means an attempt to rewrite the history of the R-27AE. We completely understand and accept that there is no evidence the R-27AE missile was ever introduced into a regular service of USSR or RAF or PLA or any other military force in the world. Yet, we do see that in the hands of the good pilot, ARH has a decisive advantage over SARH AA missiles. Thus, we came up with a hypothetical scenario of a situation where USSR military was forced to introduce ARH missile (R-27AE) due to unavoidable conflict with the west ... For "older" members of this community, you remember that we actually had the R-27AE in previous versions of Lock On's. However it was removed (capability degraded to unusable) due to the fact that there was no evidence the missile was ever introduced in USSR or RAF. Therefore we decided to use R-77 seeker and put it onto an R-27EM missile body. And we created something that's sort of an R-27AE missile. We armed our Flankers with the maximum of four of them and gave it a try. Well, it was fun ... In our view, F-15C still has an advantage with superior radar capability. However, the F-15 pilot now has to fly, and fly hard to use that advantage. As of right now, the test mission is up and running on our dedicated server. Please feel free to join the server to get the feel of our R-27EA mod. We will be closely watching your reaction as well as your comments and suggestions. If we get thumbs up, we will keep the mod up and running. If we get thumbs down from you, we will rethink our ideas and take appropriate action. To join our server running R-27EA mod, you will need to install the ModMan 7.3.0.0 compatible mod for each the FC or BS depending on the aircraft you will use to play on our server. Mods are attached here (see bootom of this post). If you need a TS to coordinate action with your team members (BLUE or RED), please feel free to join our Team Speak server at the following IP: 95.156.192.41:9987 At the end, I would ask you again to please not turn this topic into a discussion about whether the R-27EA missile exist or not in real life military of any country. We do understand and accept the fact that there is no evidence what so ever that R-27EA exists in any military in real life. It is =4c=, Pilotasso, there is no need to hesitate in mentioning our name. It was already mentioned in Crunch's post earlier in this thread. We have been working on a R-27EA hypothetical scenario for a long time and are now inviting various squads and other members for a closed testing session on Saturday evening. We will work very patently and closely with long-time FC/DCS simmers to determine viability and playability of our mod. We will inform you all about our activities in this manner in few weeks.

Is RVV-AE opertional missile?
4c Hajduk Veljko replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in Military and Aviation
That is good enough. Certified for use and formally introduced in service, but not purchased due to lack of funds and no imminent need, makes R-77 valid weapon in Flaming Cliffs. And confirms the existence and availability of the R-77 missile. -
Is RVV-AE opertional missile?

Was it cleared through the ГСИ, certified for use, but USSR or RAF did not purchase it due to lack of funds in nineties? What about after nineties? -
When introduced, back in 1984, there were two Flanker versions, Su-27 and Su-27P. Su-27SK is an export version of the Su-27. The letter S (serial production) in SK was used to distinguish between K (komercial - export) version and K (korabelnyy - shipborne). BTW, the Su-33 original designation was Su-27K (K for korabelnyy - shipborne). I think that some people confuse the designation of T-10S to add an S to original Su-27. T-10S was the final production design that went for serial production. Original design had a designation of T-10. Anyway, neither of the Su-27, Su-27P in 1984 nor the Su-27SK in 1992 was capable of carrying R-77 because the R-77 was the second generation of ARH missiles specifically designed for the M series of Fulcrums and Flankers. MiG-29S (product 9-13S) was able to carry R-77 because it incorporated the RLPK-29M targeting system. That was sometime in 1993 or 1994. Sixteen MiG-29S (9-13S) were delivered to RAF. It is quite possible that now SK can carry R-77. But not back in 1992.

Is RVV-AE opertional missile?
4c Hajduk Veljko replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in Military and Aviation
Now, we have established, without a doubt that the RVV-AE is operational missile. The next question is about R-77? Was R-77 operational during the USSR time? Has it been operational in RAF, UAF or any other former soviet republic, now independent country? -
You are right on the money Crunch! Internally, we at =4c= have been testing the mod for several weeks now. We are in process of inviting squads for a major test on Saturday. Are you interested in participating in the test?

There is a T-10S but I don't know of Su-27S. Although, there is a Su-27P (P for "perekhvatchik" - interceptor), which is T-10S without ground strike capability. I would say FC models Su-27/27SK, the earliest versions from 1985/92 I would like to see what does it say on the front page of the manual you are talking about. BTW, Su-27SK (S for sereeynyy, K for kommehrcheskiy) was T-10S (Su-27) with downgraded avionics for China and Vietnam. Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!

Let us stay on topic. R-27P/EP can be discussed here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=72806 Reminder: SAM = Stealth STOP!

It is undeniable fact that the missile is available for sale. Here's the link: http://eng.ktrv.ru/production_eng/323/503/506/ There are many questions about missile capabilities. Very vague missile capability description on a web page above says, that P/EP missile, quote: "The R-27P1 and R-27EP1 unified medium-range air-to-air missiles with passive radar homing heads are intended for round-the-clock engagement of radio-emitting air targets in fair and adverse weather conditions, in the front hemisphere, against diverse underlying backgrounds and in cases when the enemy targets protect their aircraft with anti-radar active jamming." There are pictures of inert missiles and possibly live missiles with conical shape radomes on Various Flanker's in Yefim Gordon's book Sukhoi Su-27 (Famous Russian Aircraft), on the following pages: 109, 130, 144, 145, 146, 148, 149, 216, 219, 307 and 396.

Export version of the R-77 missile is RVV-AE. There are numerous reports that hundreds of RVV-AE's were sold to India for their fleet of Su-30MKI as well as MiG-21bis airplanes. Does anybody have any pictures of operational RVV-AE's on any of these airplanes? Also, has China ever purchased any RVV-AE's?
