  1. Internet spoof...... http://www.snopes.com/horrors/techno/radar.asp
  2. Read this thread real tired, then watched the clip. Caught me hook, line and sinker! When I read the credits and saw it was DPS, I actually shouted out loud "I might've £%&$ing guessed...." Nice one :D
  3. Still a fave and Ukrainian so Lockon theatre relevant.....
  4. I agree with you. Rolling Thunder was the mid-1960's and Linebacker I and II were much later in '72.
  5. Did not have any preference who won before the game started. Not impressed with Holland's play - too many fouls, some quite nasty, they were very, very lucky to get to half time with 11 men. So I wanted Spain to win after that.
  6. http://www.lazygranch.com/red_audio.htm I think this is THE site for what you are looking for. Recordings of Red Flag exercises in Nevada. Good long recordings - some are over an hour long. I start them playing in Media Player before I crank up Lockon. Works well and adds to the atmosphere. Some of the recordings have British (hurrah!) AWACS, some have other foreign air forces voices too (Spanish?, Saudi?, German?). My favorite is the Red Flag 2004-3 MIG channel recording, the female controller has a cute voice...
  7. Am up to date on TV switchover where I live and (more importantly as they'll need a bit more help) where my elderly parents live. Hadn't thought about radio. When is that gonna be? Can't live without radio in my car!
  8. Fair point..... Only really familiar with Santa Cruz who has had a successful few years playing in England, but I've been impressed with Paraguay.
  9. Get on that site and spend a couple of minutes bumping down some of the negative comments.
  10. I have been looking forward to this game for the whole World Cup but had wondered for several days whether it would be as I hoped becuase of other results. I stayed indoors and watched it all (even though the weather is lovely today in the UK). Mate, I have to say I was quite dissapointed and IMHO that media report pretty much sums up what I thought of the game. Sadly for the neutral spectator, a 0-0 meant they both qualified and so both teams were happy with that. The last 15 minutes of Chile - Spain was similar. They knew that both teams would qualify so they settled for the result. A rather dull day - I guess the thrills of Italy-v-Slovakia were not to be repeated today.
  11. Imagine how I feel about British media? I have to read their rubbish EVERY day........;)
  12. Darn it, I spelt Arrivederci wrong........ Never mind, you get the idea. This was always one of my favorite colourful MiG-29 skins.
  13. Still here - a little bit older, a little less hair and strangely a little bit taller....
  14. My 2 cents? The Iranian president (Mr Army Dinner Jacket) is annoyed that no-one is talking about Iran anymore. All anyone cares about at the moment is the World Cup in S Africa and Iran ain't there. He is one of those typical pint-size people with a gallon-size ego who can't stand being ignored. As Oscar Wilde said “The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”
  15. Yes I saw that too. Not acceptable sporting behaviour. Uruguay look like a solid team with goal scoring power. I think they are a good bet to make final 8? maybe even final 4?
  16. Ummm, shouldn't that S-3B say VS-41 on it (and not VF-41)..... http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/webphoto/web_060717-N-2101W-005.jpg
  17. A bizarre World Cup so far. Many of the games that you would have thought an easy result to predict and bet your money - then you would have lost. Many supposedly strong teams are struggling. England seem awful, but at least we are not the worst - what is happening in the French camp? Very sad. Anelka had a terrific season with Chelsea and they send him home for speaking his mind? Such things are supposed to stay in the locker room (not leaked to the media) and be dealt with between the people concerned. Only the South American teams seem to be consistently playing well.
  18. The Smallwood book on the A-10 is excellent, i got mine years ago and must've read it a dozen times. Check out the same authors book on the F-15E in the Gulf war http://www.amazon.com/Strike-Eagle-Flying-F-15E-Warriors/dp/1574888854/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276739391&sr=1-1
  19. Gotta be careful Moa if you are trying to replicate real life. I would say that you should not allow the US carrier aircraft to use the Admiral K. Landing OK I guess, but takeoff? The K has no catapult, only the ski ramp. Equally the Su-33 has no way of connecting to a US carriers catapult so again I would say it cannot takeoff from a US carrier. Helo's - OK. Harrier - OK. I seem to recall that the MEINit on v1.02 differentiated between the three types of helo/aircraft carrying ships. I guess FC and FC2 files do something similar as well? I haven't looked at such things for years since I worked out how to get helo's to takeoff and land on the Neustrashimy (odd that it was missed out) and also the carriers. One was "helicoptercarrier" I think that was destroyers/frigates. One was "aircraftcarrier with catapult" and the final one (and the reason I remember it) was something amusing like "aircraftcarrier with tramplin"? I guess the Devs meant trampoline / ski jump?
  20. Likewise here Pilotasso - no real confidence here either in my team. One of Englands best defenders already injured in training and out for good. I'll be real happy if we reach the last 8.
  21. Ages since we've had a thread about the Lockon night sky...... There was some discussion on the UBI forums back in 2004, and I seem to recall something a couple of years ago on this forum about emergency navigating using the stars at night, but I can't find it.
  22. You are missing the point about the difference between SCUD and ARM's. The SCUD is a ballistic missile. It comes down on you from space pretty much directly above you at a massive speed aided by gravity. If you dont blow it into pieces it will still fall on you. A regular missile isnt like that. In order to take on SCUD's at all, they had to rewrite some of the Patriot's software to enable it to have any chance of engaging such superfast moving targets. As EtherealN pointed out when he mentioned THAAD, a SCUD presents different challenges to a normal missile. No not easier at all, different.
  23. If the Queen gets lost on the way, blame me. I worked for a while on the software for the GPS system for EH101 Merlin.....
  24. A sweet video, as good as your usual standard of quality! It felt more real to me I think because you used the same music as a real life Flottille-17F video I remember watching a long time ago.
