  1. Maybe try this site... http://en.poehali.org/maps/37.50/45.00 If you want serious detail, you could always buy these.......... http://mapstor.com/map-sets/travel-maps/caucasus.html ...or these...... http://mapstor.com/map-sets/overview-maps/russia-southern.html http://mapstor.com/map-sets/travel-maps/crimea.html
  2. Michael Caine: How much longer Ops? The engine's overheating, and so am I. Classic....... Agree with Griffin about Indigènes (Days Of Glory). It was shown on the UK channel Film4 a few months ago - it was excellent. One of the best films of any genre I saw in 2009.
  3. Think of the PATRIOT radar like a Claymore mine - "front toward enemy" ;)
  4. It is a really, really old screenshot of a bugged pre-release version of Lockon. I can remember seeing it being talked about on the UBI forums back in 2003.
  5. Lockon:Flaming Cliffs (aka FC) is a payware upgrade to LOMAC. Nearly all folks who fly online (certainly all the serious online flyers) are using FC patched to the latest standard v1.12b :joystick: Lockon was released by the publishers (UBI) in stores all over the World in Xmas 2003. UBI own the Lockon name. Their deal with the developers (Eagle) allowed Eagle to release an addon (Flaming Cliffs) after UBI baled out. I guess Lockon didnt make UBI the sort of money they had hoped. Initially FC was released as a web download only. Later, a single CD version had a limited release through specialist online Flight Sim stores such as simw.com, etc Later still a GOLD double CD pack was released in stores in the USA with Lockon on 1 CD and FC on the 2nd CD. Some of those GOLD packs had a borked 2nd CD and there was an exchange system set up so folks could get a working CD sent to them. That exchange system ceased operation long ago. Unlikely, but remotely possible, that there are bad GOLD packs still out there on the shelves of stores in the US. Later still a GOLD pack was released in Europe. As I understand it, none of those European GOLD packs had any manufacturing problems. Eagle have announced that (hopefully) sometime in the 1st quarter of 2010 a large payware FC patch will be released called 2.0 (cost something like 15 USD) which aims to make FC compatable with DCS:Black Shark by using the same mission editor as DCS and the same terrain map as DCS.
  6. If you bought in 2005 you might have any one of several versions, so check first what you already have, look at this thread which gives you information about which version you currently have. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/99610606/m/5231051584 I'm guessing you have the basic Lockon and are currently on version 1.0 or 1.01, so you should patch up to 1.02. CombatAce has the patches for that (either v1.0->1.02 or v1.01->v1.02) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=15 Note that once you are up to v1.02 then the weapon firing for American aircraft changes. Spacebar will only fire the cannon, need to use the ENTER key to fire rockets, bombs, missiles. Russian jets are not affected by patch v1.02 There is a payware addon called Flaming Cliffs (aka FC, aka v1.10). Initially that was only available as a payware download. Later there was a release on a single disk, but not into regular shops, only to specialist Flight Sim internet stores. Almost all the folks who fly online use FC. So if you wish to join them, you need to get FC. There are patches available that take FC from v1.10 up to v1.12b bu they are for FC ONLY so dont get confused and try to apply those patches to your basic Lockon as they will screw it up.
  7. Because they never designed in any online air to air refuelling. It just happens to work, albeit imperfectly - you can't see the baskets until you are right on top of them apparently. The Devs did look at the problem in the early days, I can recall the discussions on the Forums, but it was not possible for them to fix it in a patch. But since they had never advertised online refuelling as a feature anyway..........
  8. Try Ebay - always dozens of copies real cheap. Not sure about Ebay down under but certainly plenty of copies on the UK (30 hits) and US (60 hits) Ebay. Saw a "buy it now" for 1.95 US dollars. Even with postage from the US to Aus, that's gotta work out pretty cheap! It has also been re-published recently in the UK by Revival games. http://www.focusmm.co.uk/shop/Lock-On-Air-Combat-Simulation-pr-1268.html That is always an option if you dont like buying on Ebay.
  9. Saw the Russian movie about this incident, I thought the movie was pretty good. Most Russians however think it is poor and inaccurate. Had never heard of a game being made about it till now.
  10. Simw are a company with a good reputation, I am sure if they sell you Lockon Gold it will be OK and not one of the problem copies. If it was not I am sure they would swap it for you. I think it was only in the USA that there was a problem with GOLD, I think the European copies of GOLD were all OK.
  11. Use SHIFT-N for voice warnings cancel, but I don't think you can cancel the RWR chirp.
  12. What happened to Flanker team? Nothing sinister I'm sure. It is the computer industry, it is the modern age. Gone are the days when someone stays in one job for life. Someone staying 2 or 3 years is typical of software companies. You get better and faster pay increases by changing to a different company. Myself - I joined the software industry in 1980 after college. I left my first company after two years and 4 months. Why? - to get experience of different work and to get more money. I'm sure it is no different in Moscow, or L.A. or Bombay.
  13. That is exactly what I need to find difficult targets - a ruddy great arrow on the ground pointing at them..... :D
  14. That one is still one of my favourites. Watching it always puts me in a dilemma of...... Do I fire up Lockon and do some low level flying or Do I get on the decks and mix some bangin' techno?
  15. Happy B'day from a fellow Ch'fordian.......
  16. It is more likely that you have forgotten to set SKILL to PLAYER in the AIRGROUP PLANNING menu, so what you have done in your mission is set up an AI aircraft (that you meant to be yourself) to be Average , Good , High, etc.
  17. Can't listen to "Highway to the Danger Zone" without remembering the first Bill et John movie and then I just crack up laughing............ Whenever I hear Thunderstruck, it reminds me of a Lockon movie that is quite old now but still one of my favourites =Iron Angels= Thunder by IA DazzyD.
  18. Some guards who would come running whenever I yelled "Guards! Guards!". That would be cool.... ... and of course sharks with laser beams attached to their heads. ;)
  19. You could open the mission in the Mission Editor and set the weather to a cloudless day. In the early days, lots of folks with so-so machines had to do this with campaigns / missions authored by the Community. The folks who make missions often have top of the range machines and so put in weather and lots of AI aircraft/helo's/tanks/ships that kill FPS. Lost count of the number of times I had to edit down a mission so it is playable on my rig.
  20. Still using XP. I have a dual core. Will I get any dual core performance from FC 2.0 or will I have to upgrade to Vista / Windows 7 ?
  21. What a great reason to buy a lottery ticket..... .....and they are only about 80 miles from my house, I could be there in 90 minutes once I've won!
  22. Here are some links. I can't say for sure that they are 1.02 or FC stuff, you'll have to check. Sometimes they have helpful names that include 1.02 or F.C. or 1.11 etc in the names. 23. It is how the two of you fly together when you are online that makes you wingmen. Set up any other way in Lockon and Lockon thinks you want AI wingmen. I assume the two of you will be sat next to each other in the same room, or talking to each other over TeamSpeak etc, so what you say to each other and what callsigns you use is up to you. As for an AI AWACS talking to you, it will use whatever callsign you set up for your group. I think Lockon defaults to setting each group to a different name (Enfield, Springfield etc) but I think you can change them to be the same if you wish.
