Seems a lot of issues with this... should I buy
StevanJ replied to Gwalker99's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Going a bit off topic there but hey ho'.. The best thing to do, is to start up the game click on MultiPlayer, and pick a server. Once youve found a server you like, add them on discord. Then you can make suggestions. Or type DCS Vintage into reddit and ask Phil there.. -

There is no trolling here.. Me and a friend made this because we loved the Dora so much. Maybe we just need to focus on a universal definition of Multiplayer? Lets all move on and try to be positive in towards the future. -

Can we all just please be calm. This is getting frustrating.. This quote was my point. There is only 2 warbird servers in the game that dont require the Asset Pack, They have no players in them (Mostly all the time). Theres nothing wrong with that. But are you really calling it 'a multiplayer experience'? You may be able to, but i cant.. I cannot in good faith tell people who want to multiplay to go into an empty server and enjoy themselves. Its redundant, despite them 'being in a multiplayer server' Id much rather be straight with them, and suggest they buy the popular DLC, so that they can have an incredible experience rather than an ok or lonely one. Giving the players this insight and vision keeps the players in this game and allows them to experience something exciting and frantic, that fuels the adrenaline rush we get when were in the cockpit.. An immersive 'near real world' experience that sets the bar for other games, reinacting World War 2 and fantasizing about what it was like to be a Pilot back in the 1940's, with only a gun, engine and wit to carry into a battle or dogfight. Having seen other players have that very experience, they gel with the excitement of the game and 'get it'. Then when they go to other games they come back. Having seen other players have the 'Clash of Wings/ Aerobatic server' experience, they dont 'get it'. They go to the other games and dont come back. Can you imagine Op's Response if he'd been bought the Dora, just to play Multiplayer- and then he came back with more issues, because no one had warned him, the popular servers all use the Asset Pack? He'd might be a user with poor experience who ends up going to the forums, to explain his dismay like many others have. Ive just checked for Op (which i think needs to be done more by ED), The server for Warbirds, its on the Channel where you dont need the Asset Pack, its the Aerobatic server and no ones in it (as usual). Even Clash of Wings was empty. Can you try and sympathise, and understand that for some people, especially new users, this is only going to push them far away into other games- Its actually whats actively happening, and are we really going to be choosing beggars and suggest that 'we dont want their business', or are we going to show them what this game is all about? As op mentioned he wanted MultiPlayer, I assumed he wanted to fly with other people? That means he's gonna need the Asset Pack to fly with other people, unless as you stated' he wants to start his own server and fly on his own? As Op didnt mention flying with friends. Sometimes, this place is a little confusing.. Was telling Op to buy the Asset Pack wrong especially when im trying to explain how to get the most out of the game? Should we not be pushing the Asset Pack so that we can actually get more money pushed into that part of the game and get it developed? Should we really be selling the Warbird Multiplayer experience as : Without telling users actually how many people are online, and where the players play? How can we expect new players to enjoy DCS multiplayer? Can you please be more constructive. I understand how frustrating your job might be at time, but you choose to do it every day and im grateful. But I choose to come here and put money into the game, because YOLO, and listening to the average players feedback through varying different platforms, and forums, I think I can spot whats up with people, and better prepare the next player. Hence why im telling this guy to get the Asset Pack. Id rather tell someone how to get the most out of their game- That way the next guys feedback is good.. Its not misinformation to be clear and straight with your customers. Is a cloak and daggers approach really going to help sell the game? Surely we should be pushing people into the free trials while telling them when and where the players are? ie "Yeah, some of the popular servers use the Asset Pack, but you can trial the pack, jump on most nights when it gets busy and see if Warbirds are for you, and that way youll get the best out of the game?" Sometimes its really frustrated to come here, and share an opinion about something, only to be scolded when you try to push people into the DLC that you Really dont like. I understand that everyones protective of DCS, But lets be a little sympathetic towards the users too. We're all buying into this dream on good faith. And despite not playing much of the game since 2.7, im still waiting to put money into the next modules in the hope the experience changes for the better. Dora 4 Eva.. I understand youre frustrated, But its a game. Pick a different plane, retry later. What do you expect ED do? -

StevanJ replied to Gwalker99's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
You can’t access multiplayer without first purchasing the ww2 asset pack which adds a few extra targets to shoot at, that’s it- no flyable modules come with that pack. But you can’t access multiplayer without it. Once you’ve bought that, then you can think about buying a map (will have to be Normandy if you want to fly with more players online than just yourself in a game), and then you should either buy the 190, which is pretty much indestructible online or the Dora which is the fastest (unless locked in the popular servers). Once you’ve bought the asset pack, and Normandy, then and only then can you enjoy the multiplayer game. You could try the channel but in the last year I’ve never experienced an online game with more than me and two others, and those two just wanted to practice taking off, so there was no dogfight. Welcome, to the future of online gaming.. -

Buy the asset pack, then pick any plane.. The FW190D is the F16 of WW2.. The Mustang is the FA18.. The P47 is the A10C And the 109 is the Tomcat.. -

Well, Ive said it once, and ill say it again.. If you’re the type of guy that’s put off with ‘issues’ then DCS isn’t for you. -
100% behind this, We are approaching a large number of choppers, an upgrade to vary the different types of infantry (including special forces) is a high priority need. Jets strike target> Choppers roll in to a Hot LZ with troops> Jets offer additional support> Choppers hold position under support of Jets> Choppers move out. This is a high priority wish.
-
Is there any chance, of having the UI for the Instant Action menu, on tabs? ie Tab for Warbirds, Tab for Jets?
-
No Ragret!

Surely this is down to lazy mission building? Have you tried speaking to the servers mission builders?

Its the only warbird you should buy! Yeah, there are ‘issues’.. but if you’re the type of guy that’s put off with ‘issues’ then DCS isn’t for you. Underpowered? She can out run anything in the game.. Maybe you’ve been on the free trial and forgot that you can push the throttle for more power? -
Current Asset Pack List (subject to change)
StevanJ replied to NineLine's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
Please sticky this thread. -
2017!!! Thats worse than than the yak! And it’s still not enough assets.
-
I get it, But its still not good enough. 1 of each Infantry per country is not going to cut it. Were going to need 5 different types of infantry at least, for more than the 3 different countries. Some examples might be, a sniper, a rifleman, a grenader, a medic, an engineer, a flamethrower. Then we'll need them with uniforms for Italy, Britain, Spain, USA, France, Germany, Soviet Russia, China, Japan, but to name a few. Then we have the ability to actually create immersive and epic ground battles. Then we have to support the infantry, with armoured units (Which fair enough we have some coverage), But then to support those units, we need bombers. Not just one bomber per America, and Germany. But multiple units over varying different countries. If were talking about the Channel, then we'd need a number of (at least 10 per country) of different bombers so the missions can be full of variety, instead of the usual linear missions we have already. Then we have the strike fighter/bombers. Then we need the fighters to support the bombers. Hurricanes, Typhoons, Tempests, Defiants just to name some on the British side. And then MOST importantly the civilian assets to add depth. Ive not yet even started to mention buildings, which we'll need at least 20 different types with varying skins each so that we know what to bomb, and what to avoid/protect. I.e mission, destroy the warehouse, dont hit the school next door etc. And thats why im saying its no where near enough.. Years on from the introduction of helicopter modules, and we still dont have decent assets for them to closely interact with. Its like the FA18, why we cant have a few more models of different FA18's to fly like we have for the F16. Then we could just add the FA18D as an Asset, as well as the FA18E? Just adding those two as assets creates another divers amount of missions.
-
I promise you, You genuinely dont understand. In the last 24 months, ive seen clouds improve, and gameplay get worse. Im still waiting for promises to be fulfilled from years ago, assets include the S3 Tanker we were promised years ago. Were still bombing buildings that look like theyre made from duplo. Despite that, Im still here, buying modules. Waiting for the promises that i was given years ago on modules that are still not completed.. Im not filling up the forums with complaints, im filing reports, and building campaigns and missions for any player to enjoy. Im for a donation/subscription program to help build a better game. And yet you think I feel the cost of a 'DCS world' is too high? Im fine with the cost. I not fine that i have to constantly tell people which modules to avoid. Read this, Argue with them. Please- Dont argue with me. We wont get anywhere.

Thats no where near enough assets that we need.

barrel on fire for lighting during night landings
StevanJ replied to petitnouveau's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
All runway lighting is textures that’s why they look the same day or night. And while, yes- we do have some lighting effects, it’s pointless because we still can’t see anything with them without the shadows. The human eye is drawn to contrast and movement. Look at how camouflaged razors plane is in his first image. Then Turn off shadows and then go on a night mission. Youll see what im saying straightaway. Barrels on fire will illuminate nothing as the fire effect is a texture too. I made a ww2 night campaign for my squad and it was a failure because without flir you couldn’t see ground units clear enough parked at enemy bases because the lack of shadows. Turn the time to dusk and the shadows increase ground visibility tenfold. -

So all we need is a 2006 APC tigr, to simulate WW2 night lighting.. Brilliant.. -
Please keep on topic. Have a read into the opening post, and think about it. If you dont know what Assets are to be expected in the pack, then please dont post .

Heres a TV I used daily for a year, i asked for a further discount, 12 months after i bought it. I bought it- then 12 months later it was discounted further in a sale. I spoke to Amazon. Amazon agreed to refund the price difference. Heres my opinion. Maybe im right, maybe im wrong. Its a matter of where you want to stand. When lockdown came, i put myself deep into gaming. DCS was where all my time went. Ive said this before but maybe it needs repeating. Introduce a subscription for those who want to donate to ED as a superfan (Kind of like donating each month to a Charity). Maybe even allow those Superfans to access the 'Alpha' game play too. Superfans will get 'one of a kind' skins, assets or models to seperate them from the 'normal consumers'. So they can have enjoy the game with those special assets that make single players 'more special' (because of the special access to 'Superfan Assets), They'll enjoy the multiplayer game because they'll have the 'one of a kind' superfan skins and models to show off to others while online. They might even get miles points too. Its the principle of the matter. While i agree that poor sales of products (maps and modules) should be pushed into packages to increase sales, I dont feel it should be at the expense of someone- of whom has invested early in the product under 'promise' that it will be great and therell be loads to do. Which is the problem with early access, no one really knows what theyre getting, and when theyre told 'this is it', were kinda sometimes left under whelmed. The pattern of product sales should not be: Brand drops product development with the promise that it will sell well and be finished with 'this specification'> The product is released to early investors with more promises (that it will be finished very soon)> The product doesnt hit targets so resources are pulled and pooled into a different module where sales are high> Early investors complain because they feel the product didnt live up to its 'promises or they expect more'> Product bundled with another product to piggy back on that modules brand 'with same promises' to further increase sales> Early investors miss out on big discount because they were loyal to the brand in its early instance. In this case, yes we've enjoyed 'The Channel', But no where near enough by comparison because of the way Warbirds is struggling to gain interest and because of the ridiculous way Warbirds is structured to the new user. Syria drops, we have free Assets- Lots of stuff to do, Lots of modules to use with map. Syria goes on to expand to the West, with a promise of expansion to the East. Now in its first Early Access release- I enjoyed it i wasnt even bothered about Cyprus to be honest, It was great. Now with every release weve had, its become the perfect map. And now its obvious all other maps need an update. To have a 3rd party setting the bar with a product in ED's world, is incredibly bad for ED, because now the consumer know whats expected in a module. We know modules can be expanded, and improved within a couple of months. You can enjoy DCS Syria after purchase for free with access to every part of the game. Syria caters for EVERYONE. Naval, Ground, Air, have been taken care off thanks to the cost of 'access into the game'. A friend of mine had only bought Syria and used the SU25 for months before going for the FA18. Then into more maps. Its perfect as a sales tool, and its been introduced by someone that doesnt even own the game.. Now ED have to match them in the quality of their workmanship. The Channels cost of access is incredibly high, and because of the way ED have structured that part of the game, we expect more- ALOT more. You cannot expect the customer who has paid for Syria and uses the SU25, to be happy with the Channel, after theyve paid for the map, the Asset Pack and a Warbird. And thats why in the last week weve seen overwhelming complaints from the other forum. This cant carry on the way its going. ED will soon be forced to release an actual warbird into the game for free- They have to, as Warbirds is unfathomly unpopular right now, and as an early investor into the Channel, Im becoming unhappy with the time its taking to deliver the promises they made to me with regards to the Warbirds game. Ive done everything i can to push people into it. And every time i do, im met with a barrage of discontent for those ive pushed. The people who are investing in this side of the game are paying over the odds for a lesser game. I predict that either the Hellcat (because of the Marianas) will be free, or that ED will go back and release the P51, because we have the SU25 that actively gets people into the modern game, because of all the things it can do (Its the best SEAD plane in the game), But we have a 2 seat TF51 to get people into Warbirds, and its pants as a sales tool. What will happen to those that have purchased a module when its offered for free to the public. The old 'Just wait and see whats round the corner' attitude, is wearing off.. Now were looking for that focused feedback towards what were actually getting from the game. P.S If Superfan subscription comes out, please make me member number 1.

Sorry, I did request no hear’say.. just factual stuff please im trying (and failing) to convince a New group of players to get into warbirds, and ‘they have talked about’ is not really a compelling arguments towards buying something. thanks though..

barrel on fire for lighting during night landings
StevanJ replied to petitnouveau's topic in DCS: WWII Assets Pack
Again, there are no shadows. This is already a long drawn out conversation in a different thread, start a fire in the middle of the runway and see what happens. The lighting engine is coming but it’s a long way off. -

Look up saint- Valery - Vittefleur then look up what our ‘night lighting’ looks like, we are 3 years away from a lighting engine. A barrel on fire we can do, lighting up an area with said ‘fire-barrel’ we can not. Maybe one day.
